    Would a ripsaw not be any good on its own? Not sure how accurate it would be but looking to cut some sleepers next week and not sure what tool to buy

    What about if you have to cut this 6by6 at a 45? I guess a beam saw would be your best bet.

      Guess I now have a reason to go get the Sawsquatch 16⅝" saw for building my mailbox post. I mean, why wouldn't I want to quadruple the cost of this simple project? Lol

  • @soozler

    This assumes that your wood is perfectly square to begin with. You cannot use the square on wood that doesn't have 90 degrees perfect. 😊

      This is treated 6 x 6 for outdoor use. He’s not doing fine woodworking it will be square enough.

    You might as well use a chainsaw you're gonna be that Uneven, if you're in a business where you need to be cutting 6 / 6 posts, you can easily afford a chop saw. With a 14 inch blade.

    Don't even know why circular saws are even still For sale/on the market. Useless tool. Even a Sawzall could have made a straighter cut provided. You have someone to hold it on the other end.

    That only works if the stock is square and straight, it never is. If your going to make a video make a good one.

      Stupid comment, if they are never square then how come his was square? Moron

    • @cowsongs
      @cowsongs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Stock 4x6 is usually square enough over a short 12" stretch to set a steel square on it like the video shows and make a good cut. I don't know where you buy your lumber, but it's not that bad. If you go around all 4 sides with the square and mark with a pencil, you'll see in an instant if the stock is bad because the pencil lines won't line up when you come around to the beginning. At that point, you can correct the lines.
