The DJ with the biggest respect throughout the world, so I will excuse Carl for saying 45 inch single, but he said it three times. The first single I bought was Diana Ross a year earlier Theme from Mahogany. I’ve only got 2 little boxes of 45inch singles and Love Hangover has been in the front of one of them for many years. I wonder what the first 12” single he bought.? Would love to sit and have a chat, and spin some disco funk vinyl including House n techno with the great man. Got a lot in common. Glad he mentioned Stevie, I was just listening to Carl’s set at Space closing party where he played As from SITKOL. I hope he went to Hyde Park, it was truly amazing to hear the complete album live. I was there with my Son, I wore the ‘Stevie Wonder - Hotter than July Music Picnic’ T-shirt I bought 36 years earlier. P E A C E
I smiled with such happiness listening to this interview 😊❤️. I’m a Trance/Techno DJ and also a passionate vinyl collector. I can totally relate to the elements of vinyl Carl mentioned 🙏🏻❤️.
MrTech1210 Thank-you for the kind words, it was a pleasure to hear Carl’s history and passion for vinyl. You should check out my documentary called “Gathering Grooves” on my channel, it features parts of Carl’s interview!
Met him twice all tho very briefly, shook his hand once at His birthday bash at VENUE44 bk in 1993 but every time I hear him speak he talks so passionate about his interests be it music or sport LEGEND
He was one of the most humble guys I've ever met. He is so passionate about music and a lot of people aren't aware of his enormous record collection. You don't become the best DJ on the planet without a long history with music :)
@@specificallybroad i won't be able to compete with carl's collection by far but i'd say a lot of dj's who started before the year 2000 came around do have quite a fair share of vinyl sitting around. i'm sitting on well over 5000 records and still buy and collect continuously instagram.com/p/BHIc36xBef7/?taken-by=baze.djunkiii
