Evan, that is a easy fix. Cut a piece of wood and put it under the trigger and then use electrical tape to wrap around the handle to hold it in place.

I have found that if you leave soil on top of the fabric I’ve fond that weeds will root in it. So I have taken to sweeping it up. Much to the amusement of my neighbours on the allotments! ( I’m in the uk and in case you don’t know an allotment is a small area you rent by the year). Love your channel. Thanks

    Evan, garden's looking great.
Torch: stop stabbing it. You're burning through not stabbing through. Set it down a little easier, let it do the work. Set it on its heel then stand it straight up, rock it in a gentle circle like you're spinning a quarter in the counter then lift it back up. Perfect hole. Easy as pie.

I will look for one like that, so far I've never seen one. The soil auger looks like it has real possibilities if it doesn't compact the area around the plant. I am now a subscriber.

If you add a 30 inch rebar extension t your auger, you won't have to lean over to punch your holes. That's what I did to mine and it's working really good . You can drill twice as many holes in the same amount of time. If you'll take a leaf blower and blow all the extra dirt off the fabric, you won't have weeds start on the small clumps of dirt. Your garden is looking great !

always used a rule of thumb on spacing plants that when they matured the plants would form a topwall connecting each down the row--this allows a top that shades out competitors-ample blooms--thorough pollination--sometimes fewer plants actually produce more and are of higher quality

Maybe you could find a piece of scrap wood lying around and cut it down to fit under the torch's trigger? You could use a zip tie or something to hold it on, and it would stop the trigger from completely activating.

  • @ronaldcrunkilton7138

In case someone else has not commented, make a template of light plywood or even old paneling with holes just slightly larger than burner. This allows torch to be lit and kept hot to burn holes quickly, maybe 3 seconds per hole. Holes are perfect with few chances for burning accidental holes. Be careful to keep torch over template at all times as hot plastic that accidentally drips off torch end burns minute holes in plastic. Believe me weeds will find every single hole no matter how small. Yes, ditch that trigger valve. There is an optimal setting based on plastic thickness, air temperature and wind. As mentioned there is learning curve. Also, as the torch is always lit when cutting make sure the ground under the template hole is level to prevent flame or gas from spreading under

JudithB Well, everyone has errors, and its just as important to me to know how to fix them!!! I have 2 rolls of landscaping fabric which is not what you are using, but got to use what I have. I am debating between 2 20' beds or 4 4x8' beds today. Fencing is cut for 20' for beans, cucs n peas with 3 tposts and it would take a lot more tposts if I use 8' beds. Decisions, decisions!
