Didn’t Sino Promise Group cease all production of Kodak chemicals and paper? I think I heard it somewhere at the silvergrain connection podcast when Mirco from Adox was on or when they discussed the „new“ Tetenal. I’m not sure.
On the "Dons Used Photo Eauipment" channel, they discussed what happened to the paper and the chemicals that Kodak made, "Sino Promise Group", the distributors, put out a statement on it. When I find the exact video, where I saw it, I'll link it in my comment.
Out off production just as the paper. Kodak didn’t produce them, and the company that did “sino promise “ went out of business. Ra4 chems are all the same basically, ao if you got the stuff from fuji/tetenal/adox any other should do the same trick
@@bngr_bngr yes it does just like any other photographic material. You’ll probably have a weird base fog and color response. Still you should try it out and see if you like it!
Thank you! Even though I've been taking film photographs for over 30 years, I've never fully understood the process of making darkroom prints. This video was a great lesson! It was a joy to watch you and Linus working together, having fun, too. My husband and I watch your videos together (and he doesn't even take pictures)!
Love the easy friendship that is so evident in this, and your other videos. I enjoy your videos so much (and have been following you since you had 17,000 dubs, lol).
I like these sort of doing it videos, kind of why I really enjoy your car channel. This one does assure me of two things. First, the cost of printing at an awesome, professional lab (for people who don't have nearby access to your darkroom) is an amazing bargain, and, second, the cost of even the most expensive digital camera that makes perfect colors I love is even a more amazing bargain! Cheers, Willem!
It’d be dope to have another video dedicated to discussion, experiments, troubleshooting, etc with just the filters. Like do you change them for the contact sheets or is it just white light? It’d be cool to get a better idea of how they work
Great video! I watched this twice, once yesterday and once this morning. Theres something about how you showed the small mistakes, your own degree of perfection, and Linus' first time that made it feel like I could kinda put myself in your shoes. Love your work, you're an inspiration!
11:19 mistake in this video: once you fix the exposure time, you should never change the focus or the size of the projection on your paper otherwise the result is gonna be different
Very interesting, would be great to know the final cost from buying the film to getting the final print. Seems very expensive in today’s world with the limited products available and also those who have the knowledge of printing.
sometimes i feel like digital image is too much hassle but this process looked much more enjoyable than software editing, I wish i would be more accessible in terms on expenses, how much does all of it cost from roll of film to getting a ready picture to hold in your hands?
Hey mate, i do the same process and here is a breakdown for costs of the consumables: around 12€ per rool (120), ars imago developing kit 35€ (good for 15 rolls, so around 2,5€ per roll), box of 50 sheets 30x40cm of fuji dpii around 60€ (if you cut them in half at about 8x10 inches size you get 100 sheets for same price) and for half a box a adox ra4 kit for about 25€, so roughly 100€ for 100 8x10 photos. You’ll take around two or 3 sheets till you get done, so worst case scenario if you print every single shot (which you won’t) and if you shoot 6,45 it should be around 4€ a shot if you do it all yourself. Of course bigger prints are more expensive, but not that much cause you can do all your tests on small pieces of paper. And even with all that, it’s still cheaper or around the same price as an equivalent quality and archivability inkjet. Hope this helped!
The hassle is significantly bigger in the darkroom, I've worked hours to just get two final images (but multiples of them!), and I only do b&w, but it is so much more satisfying than doing digital editing. It can also be very frustrating when stuff doesn't work out, but it's still worth it.
@@samgerers for me bw is waaayyy more time consuming that then color, it usually takes me 3 hour with black and white and 40min with color to get a good final print. But you do have to compare it to when you edit to make a print. When i have to print from digital files i spend much more than 4 hours between proofing and editing till i get a final print. With the darkroom i get a final print right then and there
You have 2 enlargers, do you ever use one to pre fog your paper? I have 2 in my darkroom and have tried it a few times with varied results after reading that Brian Dowling would pre fog Perry Ogdens work in the 90s and his work had such an amazing look.
Loved this video ! I just started darkroom printing at home but i kind of struggle with the colors. Do you have a tool or a technique to easily find the perfect color ? I really need to find a color processor. processing with a tank is really time consuming.
Does anyone know what happened to Kodak Paper/Chems??

I have a couple boxes of Kodak paper from the 90’s. I wonder if the paper goes bad?

You are a good friend man.
This was so much fun to watch
Ayy gawx is here 😹😹😹🤘🏽

Linus's old man narration about the enlarger KILLED me!! great video guys!

Linuses narration Attenborough style was a good tool in this dark times 😂

Great negatives. Beautiful prints. You guys are awesome. I love this, thank you.

Ahh love this! I just started printing my film earlier this year so love seeing other photographers and their processes
Quick tip! Get an Ilford anti staticum cloth to clean dust off negatives and then hit em with the rocket blower 😉
staticum 🤨
Your videos are always so inspiring. Keep it up Willem!
Dope vid! It’s been around 8 years since my last darkroom print. I miss it

Eclipse window shades would make your life 100% easier

love it so inspiring and the good spirits was everything.
This was super fun to watch. Might've just gave me that final push to start darkroom printing!
Loving the colours in those prints!
really loved watching this one, it was super relaxed and still greatly entertaining
This got me thinking of doing darkroom printing, but probably I’ll need my photos to look as good as these first 😂😂 looks satisfying af tho
I speak for a lot of us when I say: MORE LINUS AND WILLEM VIDEOS!!!! ❤

Very courageous, printing in colour. Continue.
Great video!
Awesome video, like always :)
shots after 4:10 look like the film photographer spinoff of breaking bad
but this video is so well done, sorry you had to put up with linus tho!
You could do a Pop Art style collage with the discolored duplicates!?
Awesome video👌🤩
You guys are so funny together!
thank you for this
this was so funny and useful
Finally, A clean negative!! *drops negative*
so funny dynamic duo
can you make a video talking about all the darkroom equipment you have ?
Maybe Willem should make a video in flemish. He can ‘godver’ as much as he wants 😅 just kidding, another great vid guys! ‘T is machtig!
LMAO

Where'd you get that S60 poster at 0:13? I have an S60R so that's really cool to me
Another video that makes me really miss my blobeye.
very impressive
Amazing.
niceeee as always
Love it!
Great video. What color processor do you use? Interested in setting up a darkroom but would only do it if I can print color "easily"
I use a jobo paper tank. Similar in use to film tank. It’s not hard at all specially if you already develop your own c41 film

Love the darkroom content! Keep it up!
Do you pre heat the RA-4 chemicals before mixing it together? Or do you put them mixed cold into the Fujimoto?
Fantastisch!!!
Hi Willem, can you tell me which processing machine you’re using? Thanks!
Do you use distilled or just plan tap?
What is this special paper? Looks amazing, a little bit like the old Endura, which at least here in EU is not available anymore, sadly
What type of paper is this? I've only ever used the Fuji stuff
LongWeekend disposable cameras ? 👀
May I just ask which machine are you using for developing? 🙃
Coole video. Wat voor ontwikkel apparaat gebruik je?
What is the difference between the two color enlargers?
whats the brand / name / price of that machine that processes the paper?
what is the image processor machine brand and name ?? I'm intrigued
Here I am thinking a tabletop processor will fix all the problems I get using a processing drum😂
OUYEAAAAAAAAAAAA
Hi willem …what’s the total cost of your Darkroom setup???
what's the paper you used?
Loved this video !

Do you plan to publish the Porsche roadtrip video soon? :-)
Also, what processor are you using?
