The Big Picture - Indian Economy: RBI's Outlook

  • The Reserve Bank expects India's economic growth rate to accelerate to 7.4 per cent in the current financial year on pick up in industrial activity and good monsoon. In its annual report released on Wednesday, RBI also said that its monetary policy will continue to be guided by the objective of achieving the medium-term target for retail inflation of 4 per cent, within a tolerance band of +/- 2 per cent, while supporting growth. It cautioned that India's external sector will have to confront global headwinds, but expressed confidence that the Current Account Deficit would largely be financed by foreign direct investment. The report notes that agricultural production is likely to remain strong, growth impulses in industry are strengthening; corporates are reporting robust sales growth and improvement in profitability, and services sector activity is also set to gather pace. The RBI also gave out demonetization figures, which we won’t focus on today, since it has been widely reported in the media and we would need to analyse it politically as well.

not up to mark of analysis from the view of different angles, lot of issues are left. One to remind is, is it inclusive growth? what about income inequality, fiscal deficit, inflation.. Is it poor and common people really reap the benefit of being world highest rate 7.3??

then why is rupee the worst performing currency in asia ? Govt can not shift their responsibility to global phenomena the same way they did not let the price of petrol fall in domestic market when it was alltime low in international market. Modi is not God or your relative, it is in interest of every democratic citizen to analyse and question the people in power no matter which party it is.
India is capital starved country , the parameters which were much focus in past are now essential for india like- FDI and Export- to maintain exchange reserve and also to balance deficit. If i am a foreigner investing in dollar(let say 10 $=640Rs) and 10 years(or 10 month) i see market in india has grown but due to fall in currency the value of 640 Rs investment is now worth 710 but now 1 $ is 71 so when i cash out in $ my profit is zero.( listen carefully Nitin desai has talked about it above )
so confidence in your currency is much of important (i am saying confidence -less variation) not value in absolute term. So at some point you have to intervene and make it stable further deterioration will result in investor taking their money out of indian money market and invest in Euro or US or other currency. so rise above politics and think like intellectual not a stupid ass and learn to respect others views and every person have right to express his opinion . As long his right to speak and express is preserved your rights too will be last. In Every Citizens right and freedom we must see reflection of our own rights. it is always Govt for Citizens.
