    Amazing looking rig! Waiting to hear about a potential version/mod for DMW-XLR1 users. If the top plate is confirmed to be replaceable with the modded version, I'll order right away, otherwise I'll wait. I'm sure that the XLR1 module is a more niche scenario for some, but the use of quality microphones are used in my event recordings (frequently house audio from their sound board is delivered by XLR). UPDATE: I know own one of these CineRig Backs. I also replaced my DMW-XLR1 with a Tascam FR-AV2 to also bring 32-bit float goodness and flexible timecode.

    • @BootStrapTurnerVideography
      @BootStrapTurnerVideography 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hotshoe for audio is no longer a concern. Just received the Tascam FR-AV2, better than the DMW-XLR1 in that it's 32-bit float with timecode!

    Isn't this Caleb's riging idea he made for FX3 etc (DSLR Video Shooter)? I think it looks neat but to me I would rather have access to internal 24bit 4 channel via the Mi shoe on Sony's that get embedded with the video channel directly with their ECM-M1 and their XLR's, plus the new adapter from DJI Mic 2 that as well gives direct 24-bit. Not sure how Canon operates on that regard but I think for the Sony ones they should make you have access to the Mi Shoe. Also I would recommend using that hand palm extension for that smallrig follow focus so you can rest your camera on your the palm of your hand while twisting the focus wheel to avoid shakes.

      The RigidPro CineRig was made as a Cineback alternative. It was made to be cheaper, and easier to get. I remember the site even mentions they've studied the Cineback to build this. With that being said, the Cineback seems like it has more features and is only improving. I feel like as time goes on Cineback will probably come out on top. Not saying the Cinerig is bad though.

    Considering this is technically a vanity item, it's actually cool looking. Not sure it's worth the price, although I get why it costs what it does (machining, R&D, etc.)
    It's not something that provides any true novel functionally (except for extra d-taps and a cheese plate)-it's literally just to make your rig LOOK cool. And it totally does that job. Zero complaints there; it totally makes the S52/X look like a BEAST!

    not gonna lie, I love the look, the functionality and everything, however I find the price of it, for what it is just a bit of a stretch and let me explain. Aside from the looks, this product doesn't offer me something I cannot otherwise get from how I already set up my s5ii, so I can't justify it for myself as a purchase, maybe for some people this could be perfect, but I still think the price could have been dropped a bit. With that being said I definitely don't know the costs of production so I could be wrong for judging this way. I do find it appealing though, just not enough to reach in my pocket and order this.

    • @s7evenTV
      @s7evenTV 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      also as a small feedback to RigidPro on how I feel this product could improve in case they happen to catch this comment, perhaps somehow adding a battery within the whole construction internally would make it more enticing to buy, as that would open a whole lot more options and possibilities, as well as justify an even bigger pricetag.

    • @RigidPRO
      @RigidPRO 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@s7evenTV thanks for the feedback. Despite what it may look like, there's literally no room whatsoever to get a battery "into" it or even closer. Remember, the length is dictated by how far the screen protrudes when flipped sideways. Behind there, there is wiring, d-Tap outlets, and the actual frame that keeps it all so rigid. We'd love to make it smaller, but there's just no way to do so unfortunately.

    • @CalebHoover
      @CalebHoover  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      good feedback! i like the v-mount option cuz most likely doing this anyway on rigs- i definitely think it's not for everyone but is a great option if people always keep their s5ii rigged. just pull it form the case this way and hit a button to turn everything on for the most part. easy rig shooters would benefit from this but not true hybrid run and gun shooters, i don't think it's for them.

  • @avx111
    @avx111 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +32

    I actually hate this trend. A hybrid camera has no business being that big, the whole thing looks bigger than a C400 that has like a hundred buttons, inputs and outputs. Let mirrorless hybrids be what they're supposed to be.

    • @ReiDoesIt
      @ReiDoesIt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would agree and disagree at the same time. If you want to run around, throw it in the backpack, probably shoot in standard profile, yes this is ridiculous. But if you're shooting BRAW, if you're used to actually seeing what you're filming with like a 7" monitor and you are used to ease of powering both monitor and camera with v-mount battery then this completely makes sense. I would say there are 3 possible "builds" for 3 use cases: 1) Nothing on it for run and gun. 2) Small monitor + cage + top handle + mic for when you care about results. 3) Medium monitor + cage + rails + top handle + vmount + option follow focus, if you care about results in artistic way and want to have proper exposure tools and have confidence in what you shoot. If you look at the hybrid camera as final product this is dumb, if you look at it as a sensor for a camera, it's very useful.

      @NickPresley 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Probably overkill, but on my one person shoots I prefer the extra power and single source. If I'm mid shoot carrying and swapping different batteries for my camera and monitor is a hassle. Also depending on my rigging it's tough to keep the battery and card slots fully accessible - looking at you, gimbal.
      While I'm less likely to build out this rig in this specific setup, I can see the appeal. On top of that there's still something to be said for looking more "professional" to clients by a little dress up on a smaller camera.
