Do you rig up your camera or prefer to keep things as small as possible?
It's great - but what to do with the XLR unit ?
@@trinderfilms1357 Unfortunately the XLR unit can't be used with this rig, and that's a shame. But I've always recorded my audio externally anyway (32bit float), so it hasn't really bothered me too much!
@@JoshCameron I think it's something they need to do - for long interviews, run and gun doc style shooting - the XLR unit is so great . If they could integrate the XLR unit somehow, it would satisfy the urge for an L-Mount box style / FX6 equivalent (ok NDs would be nice too...)
@@JoshCameron they actually told me they are working on a versión of the RigidPro cineback where there is room carved on top for using the xlr1 unit
Every tool has a job, this is not it
Interesting idea. What is their solution if I want to use the XLR adapter that connects to the hot shoe to give 4-channel audio recording?
Too much weight on your lens mount Josh. The S5 cameras are great with the Lumix lenses, but I just dont think the camera is designed to have a giant unsupported cine lens mounted like that.
Looks like the ones Caleb designed. What about the function buttons, do you still have access to them?
Defeats the purpose of having a small lightweight easy-to-handle mirrorless camera.
I think it’s more about giving an option to have this sort of setup, if needed.
Man, this cage makes the S5ii look great!
Where is the S5II? I can´t see it anymore.
Hello! great review! How would you place rodes for Follow Focus or Lens support?
I notice you have no rails on the bottom of the rig. Does it have the option for rails for lens support?
Many of our customers mount rail support to the bottom cheese plate (loads of 1/4 and 3/8 mounts).
@@RigidPRO oh beauty. Thanks for letting me know !
Is this a collab with Camera Foundry? Or a copy?
This rig is just to make your camera look more "pro" and expensive than it actually is. It does nothing for functionality besides adding some d-tap ports and making the camera heavier. Also you can't take this rig off quickly and go lightweight if you want to throw it on a gimbal like you can on the smallrig v mount plate.
:-(
Yeah he got a Rigid Pro one instead of a Camera Foundry. Smh, Rigid Pro straight up copied and pasted your creation. I wish no one got stuff from them
@@uptonfilms95 While I agree it's pretty lame how almost 1to1 they copied Caleb's design, they have yet to release Cineback for the Lumix S5ii and iiX, yes it looks like its planned in the coming months, and I imagine Caleb's will be fantastic, but simply put there's no competition for Rigid Pro, the beat CineBack to the market, so its fair game really. That's how the market it works. In the end I can only image Caleb will beat them in overall quality and thoughful design (hopefully not blocking the xlr adapter's slot) which will hopefully mean CineBack wins out in the market ultimately.
Wait, what? You have a cage for the S5 too, Caleb? If so, as a loong time follower of your channel, naturally I'd much rather get yours, even though I'm in the EU..
I think you and Josh should have a boxing match!
I absolutely love this product, and after finding out the Tilta half cage works I was gonna order mine with the top handle - glad I watched this because that import charge is hefty - a 3rd of the actual price. Crazy. What a shame.. 😢
Massive useful information about shipping which most people wouldn’t mention.
Would you consider the Atomos Shinobi V2 when the firmware is updated to allow for touch screen focusing?
Oh was my comment hidden? I thought it was completely fair and respectful :( ...
Dope setup. Wishing your finger a speedy recovery though. ✌✌
great vid! I'll never understand the matte box adding, when there are so many Filters you can attach to the lens. I only see it as an ornament.
You have to trademark "bugaboos" haha
Does it work with the Falcam s5 iix cage?
£80 import tax, holy moly!!!
A bbl for a camera I’ll say it again
Fantastic! Spot on what I've been looking for for ages... BUT - do you know why this wouldn't work with the original S5 (which is my current main workhorse)? Cheers
S5 support will come soon!
This negates the use of the xlr module, which makes it useless.
Useless may be a little bit strong worded - I get what you mean, but it's not the end of the world. I always record 32bit float audio externally anyway, and never use audio recorded in camera unless its for scratch audio :) It just depends on your workflow I guess!
Thanks for watching :)
Yes I think its a no-go for me as the XLR unit - particularly on the S5iix - giving you 4 channels internally, is so essential for doc work
@@JoshCameronwhich float audio hardware do you use?
@@KarlDomning I have the road wireless pro system. Works great, love it!
@@JoshCameronDoes it work fine with the prior, the S5? You forgot to mention that.
Instead of carving the USB-cable you could use an angled USB-C-adapter.
I bought a whole bunch of different ones, just in case.
A much smarter thing to do....
My word of the day “Bugga Boos.”
The politest way of saying 'things that piss me off' 🤣
@@JoshCameron came here to say this "bugga boo" is a phrase I need to hear more in my life
Does it work with regular small rig cage or just the black mamba one?
This only works with either the Smallrig 4023 or Tilta Half Cage. All the other cages we tested simply made the rig unnecessarily larger unfortunately.
Tbh $300 for that is not bad tbh it make your camera look very clean .
Hope your finger recovers! With knife crime in the UK you’d think everyone is a master of knives 😇😂
Hahaha best comment!
I love the option to rig a camera up and strip it down simply for sure. That rig is beefy but sleek! 😮💨
Bro you’re the goat!!! I’ve looked everywhere for a video to see if it worked with the tilta half cage!!
It does work with the Tilta Half Cage. I haven't seen any videos of that yet. We'll see if we can add some content around that.
@@RigidPRO will it work with the Tilta full cage ?
Can you please make a complete and detailed video of the settings you use on S5IIX and explain them in some detail?
yeah, he'll do an entire video for you.
tonnes of things online for Lumix s5iix m8
Look arround
Great rig, does it work with the Falcam cage?
How would you incorperate a follow focus if you needed to?
you can put a 15mm rod plate on the bottom
No
I love cheese 🧀
Me too, although cheddar is really the only cheese I mess with,
thhe whole point of rigging a camera is to make it more configurable. how is adding a brick making it more configurable? the reason people use quick release plates and solutions on their rig is TO MOVE FROM one rig to another, like tripod config, gimbal config, car mount etc. that is why you rig. adding a brick is dumb
that camera becomes forever trapped. no way man
This setup actually makes the camera more versatile. 1) you dont have to use rig all the time 2) the rig provides a larger format which can help shooting in certain situations and having the weight can actually be helpful in certain scenarios 3) You have the ability to add more accessories that may help with certain shoots 4) the perception of a larger rig can make you more money because to clients it appears more pro/legit
May not work for your purposes but there are some good reasons for others to desire this setup. You def dont need it to make great stuff with an S5iix
