I am glad that you enjoyed that song so much. Sadly, Leslie West (the guitarist) passed away last week from a heart attack. I saw Mountain in 1973. The man could rip a guitar with ease. Again, I am glad you enjoyed the song.
When I was a kid I said that man can make that guitar scream. I was too young in 1973 I wish id seen him live when Felix was alive with the band. Your so lucky lol. RIP for the big guy, there's still a tear in my eye.
Leslie West making the guitar sing. A lot of great tunes. Big guitar hero. He's still around, a funny guy. His guitar tone is very human, very powerful. Nantucket sleigh ride is an epic tune.
Mississippi Queen by Mountain... Causing people to get speeding tickets since 1970..That's the legendary Leslie West on guitar and vocals. The band is from New York. They performed at Woodstock...
Hay cashscribe, thanks for reacting to mountain Mississippi queen . You getting into rocknroll is like the angel on a Christmas tree. Thanks alot.god bless you.peace.
first concert I ever went to. . .was the year this came out - the concert was Mountain. . . .opening act was Black Sabbath. . .this was in Dallas. . . tickets cost $4. . . .
The great "Leslie West of the Rock Band "Mountain" passed away yesterday at age 75, from complications from diabetes. "You reacted to the song "Mississippi Queen" of theirs. God Bless Mr. West's Family.
Young lady you just earned a like and subscription from me. Seeing a young woman jamming to Mountain's Mississippi Queen just made me hopeful for today's youth.
Leslie West was definitely " The Man." From the very first time I heard Mississippi Queen. Was in the summer between 5th and 6th grade. I thought it was the coolest song ever, and still do. Two other songs from the mid to later 70s are ( Aerosmith.) " Train Kepta Rollin." Off their: Get your Wings. Lp. And REO Speedwagon 1977 LIVE album ( You Get What You Play For.) " 157 Riverside Avenue." 2 of my absolute favorite Foot stompin Rock And Roll tunes of all time, somewhere behind: Blackfoot; " Highway Song." And Mountain; " Mississippi Queen."
You know... When I first came to your First Reaction Site, it was right around New Years. One of the things that attracted me to your site right off the bat was, how much of a striking resemblance you bared to a girl I once knew and loved very much. Recently deceased, I still have many fond memories of what time we shared, listening to music and sharing our dreams with one another. She was a fashion model in H/S. And I was from the wrong side of the tracks her parents would have never approved of. I was the night time Janitor at the H/S she was taking some night classes at. She was sitting on the stairs of a stairwell I was sweeping, waiting for her ride, when she first caught my eye. 40 years later I removed her number from my phone book, after I received the word of her passing. When I first saw you I did a double take, thinking ? " Did she have a twin ??? " Everything about you, reminded me of her, and by returning to your site as often as I do, makes me feel like I'm 40 years younger. If you'd like to play a song in her memory, I would appreciate you playing the Country Song Singer; George Jones, 1986 number. " The Corvette Song."
Now you talking he singing about my neck of the woods we use to play this song every night..we roll hard down here..kid rock parted hard with us one weekend..he had to write a song about us..check it out. The song name is.."Jackson Mississippi"
Absolutely loved your reaction to Mountain: " Mississippi Queen." I could tell you really enjoyed listening to this one. My only complaint is, it was to short. Short and to the point.
I love this song it's the first song I can do on expert on guitar hero man I love the guitar riffs and love watching you jam out to some great music you make it fun
You got it!!! So man people try to read more into it. Rock/ blues/ southern fried all rolled into one. The bad thing about it, Leslie West, who put it all out there and made this song has since passed. He will always be remembered.
''You know she was a dancer/She moved better on WINE''. Greatest Rock line ever written. Non guitarists may not appreciate the monster tone he was ripping out of that Les Paul Junior (which was not a top of the line ax).
YES!!!! Fond memories with this song! 1995....Seafood/Fast Food chain(Capt D's) in Tupelo, MS. Mississippi Queen...BAR NONE! To this DAY...I wish I had taken the Management Position offered! Was there helping out, after a MASS WALK OUT. I was Manager of Hixson, Chattanooga Suburb's site! Tupelo, Elvis's Birth Place!!! I was going through a difficult time...due to Infidelity on Ex-wifes side! I regret to THIS DAY, that I passed up an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME EXPERIENCE/LOVE OF A LIFE TIME! 25 Years??????Holy Shit!!!!!!! Still think of My "Should have been Queen"! Guess she made an impression, NO? Not in a physical/Sexual way, I took my vows seriously! It was a PURE, where have you been all my life, deal! THANKS for this memory😂
I got one for you to check out. You just keep me hanging on by Vanilla Fudge. A remake of Diana Ross and the Supremes song. You'll be glad you did. For best results play at maximum volume!!!
Big Leslie West doesn't sing the lyrics, he growls 'em! EDIT months later: Maybe something of this speed and roughness would have been more like a real "Nantucket sleighride," another of Mountain's songs, pretty much a sea shanty reflecting a mid- to late-19th century whaling experience.
I am glad that you enjoyed that song so much. Sadly, Leslie West (the guitarist) passed away last week from a heart attack. I saw Mountain in 1973. The man could rip a guitar with ease. Again, I am glad you enjoyed the song.
Yep, sad we lost him. That diabetes worked on him. Damn.
When I was a kid I said that man can make that guitar scream. I was too young in 1973 I wish id seen him live when Felix was alive with the band. Your so lucky lol. RIP for the
big guy, there's still a tear in my eye.
Cardiac arrest is a killer
This is a girl who loves rock and roll.
Leslie West guitar and vocals on this song! Kick ass song!
Leslie West making the guitar sing. A lot of great tunes. Big guitar hero. He's still around, a funny guy. His guitar tone is very human, very powerful. Nantucket sleigh ride is an epic tune.
Rythem is kicking Ass!..Too!
Yep you need to hear Funk 49 by The James Gang.
I would like this 1000 times if I could
Everyone needs Joe Walsh in their life.
Mississippi Queen by Mountain... Causing people to get speeding tickets since 1970..That's the legendary Leslie West on guitar and vocals. The band is from New York. They performed at Woodstock...
Great to see this young girl diggin' the music I grew up with!
Hay cashscribe, thanks for reacting to mountain Mississippi queen . You getting into rocknroll is like the angel on a Christmas tree. Thanks alot.god bless you.peace.
Thank You! it's been at least a couple of hours sense my last cowbell fix...
Killer heavy bluesy funk rock.
Theme From An Imaginary Western was one of my faves by them
This song is just raw and dirty...the way rock n roll was meant to be!
They were the first BIG rock concert that I ever saw when I was 15 in 1970.
That was a fine initiation! 😉
The first hard rock funky song heard on radio WAY back when before anyone else thought of doing it
Their "Nantucket Sleighride" is fire
and Mountain should be more popular. they were a bad ass band
drowningbodacius and Leslie West has a sense of humor....played a member of the cross dressing rock band in the movie “The Money Pit”.
Richie Blackmore wanted Deep Purple to sound more like Mountain.
Your time, effort, emotional input love of music.
Thank you for all.
God bless you and your family little sister😍
Songs like this made 1970 a great yr for music. Absolutely loved it!! See you were digging it😂. Merry Christmas and a great 2022. 🎉
'Big man' hits home. Played at Woodstock 69 and played also and got married on stage a Woodstock 2009. King of tone.
first concert I ever went to. . .was the year this came out - the concert was Mountain. . . .opening act was Black Sabbath. . .this was in Dallas. . . tickets cost $4. . . .
LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!! You are just so friggin' down for ANYTHING! You are pure gold in my book.

Ah, another ROCK convert!! Classic rock like Mountain never dies, it just finds new fans over the years.
Leslie West of Mountain passed this week! R.I.P.
I miss real rock and roll and you proved that it's so enjoyable thank you keep up the good work
I was 11 years old when this hit the airwaves in 1970. This song has withstood the test of time. 61 years old now and this one remains great.
I was 9 in 1970. Remember hearing my older sister playing it. A better time.
You are soo unique and cool… refreshing to find you. Thrilled to subscribe….. my god what a breath of fresh air. Be you Maaam
Masterpiece, LESLIE WEST BLASTING HIS GUITAR. TOO "MISSISSIPPI QUEEN". GLAD TOO SEE SCRIBE ENJOYED HERSELF. FOR ANOTHER 70'S BANGER....
saw him live in 1975 in Baltimore 3rd row- could not hear for a week! nantucket sleigh ride is amazing too as a track to review
I was somehow mesmerized by this song when it first hit the airways. Gawd it was so long ago!
Rock In Peace Leslie.
ScribeCash never disappoints!

Girl you are also 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Pitch perfect reactions every time.
eVERY REACTOR TO THIS SONG IVE EVER SEEN BANGS THEIR HEAD, This tune invented that.
You got that right. Leslie West (one of my heroes), was never a small man, especially during his heyday in the 60s and 70s
Leslie West had a very unique way about him.
THAT GUITAR RIFF HAS SOME HELLA "STANK" 🎉😊 !
I can't tell you how much a pleasure it is to see a cool African-American woman grooving to Mountain. Gotta love it.
I herd this on regular show tv the show
my reaction to your reaction:" U So Crazy " LMAO !
The heaviest rock song ever recorded....
May I respectfully suggest "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin? Enjoy!
_Theme for an Imaginary Western_ is another great Mountain song....
Goodevening,

Absolutely loved your reaction to Mountain:
" Mississippi Queen." I could tell you really enjoyed listening to this one.
My only complaint is, it was to short. Short and to the point.
One and done
if it was a pink floyd song it would have 7 minutes of guitar buildup and be a 12+ minute song i might’ve preferred that
I love this song it's the first song I can do on expert on guitar hero man I love the guitar riffs and love watching you jam out to some great music you make it fun
Leslie West - Legend.
You got it!!! So man people try to read more into it. Rock/ blues/ southern fried all rolled into one. The bad thing about it, Leslie West, who put it all out there and made this song has since passed. He will always be remembered.
Love mountain great band rub a tub tub 💪😜
Mississippi Queen means only one thing to the Honky cat, brown sugar!
''You know she was a dancer/She moved better on WINE''. Greatest Rock line ever written. Non guitarists may not appreciate the monster tone he was ripping out of that Les Paul Junior (which was not a top of the line ax).
How’d you know Leslie West is a big guy? I know it’s just a term, but you hit the nail on the head. Psychic!!
Very much cutting edge back in the day.

Leslie West ----- 'The Great Fatsby.'
You should definitely check out "Black Betty" by Ram Jam
Preferably the long version, not the shortened radio edited version
His guitar tone was dirty as they come.A great old rocker.

@@bradhelms9408 Spirit in the Sky!!
Filthy DIRTY!!!!
Mountain was meant to be a Funk/rock/soul band initially...R.I.P Lesley west
The great Leslie “ West” Weinstein. The first “heavy” rock hero. RIP.
The Great fatsby, Leslie West R.I.P.
I agree with Dale completly Funk # 49 is a great song by a great band The James Gang.
This is the best radio show that's not on the radio (unfortunately).
It's called FAT Guitar, and I mean Real Fat!
🔥🔥🔥🔥,!!!only complaint is it was way too short! Songs for the most part had to be 2:30 mins or less to be played on the radio for commercials.
lets go crazy by Prince
Ah, Mrs. Hippy Queen
You must listen to Nantucket sleigh-ride and theme for an imaginary Western
I got one for you to check out. You just keep me hanging on by Vanilla Fudge. A remake of Diana Ross and the Supremes song. You'll be glad you did. For best results play at maximum volume!!!
