There's a reason MCs hand sew patches. It's part of the experience. My husband's hands are gushing blood after the first few stitches but he said it's worth it knowing he's joining a good community.
I used Gorilla Glue Super Glue on all my patches and a roller to apply equal pressure rolled each patch for 45 seconds. They've been on my vest for over a year only the back patches I've had to touch up here and there, like a corner will start to lift because the back of my Vesy makes contact with shit all the time. But yeah it's faster, easier and cheaper than paying someone to do it. Just make sure you have your measurements right and marked with a grease pen after the patches are on you can get rid of the grease pen marks with a piece of electric tape. I also use an Iron after I Glue them down too.
I have three vests for my Harley and one of them i specifically used E6000 glue and I just marked the area around the patch and roughed the leather up a bit with some grit paper and it has held so strong but you have to be very careful not to put to much because the glue will ooze out of the sides and looks like crap and it’s a bit tough to get off but If you do hapoen to have it come out of the sides some tweezers will peel it off nicely just do it within the first 24 hours. Cheap glue and it works good so hope this helps someone out there!
Great job! A fellow Triumph owner here too! I have a 2018 Rocket III and a 2016 Triumph Tiger! You have great taste!! The Rocket is my daily rider from when the first snowflake melts to the first one falls. I put close to 12,000 miles on her every year. I just finished putting 14 military patches on my husband's vest to commemorate his retirement from the Army. There was no way I was going to sew those things through that thick leather, my fingers would turn into hamburger and it would have killed my sewing machine! Needless to say, yes, you do need good ventilation to apply this contact cement, and a tip for your next application, Lay wooden skewers on top of the surface that you are applying the patch to after the glue has dried. Pull one skewer out at a time to lay the patch onto the prepared surface. This will help to align the patch on top without accidentally allowing the patch to drop onto the prepared surface when you are not wanting it to. Second, get a rolling pin, cover it with plastic wrap and use that to apply even pressure onto the patch and get a good bond to the product. Have a great day and keep those Triumphs thundering on those roadways!!
Usually there is someone locally, often a shoe repair shop than can do it with a machine. I just mark it with a pencil then tack in place with glue then off to the person with a heavy duty sewing machine.
Good video. Just a suggestion when using a contact cement like that you should use either a roller or a mallet to really ensure the bond. It also helps when applying to leather to rough the surface a bit.
Buddy bought an old leather sewing machine off eBay to rebuild car interiors. I use that. There are a TON of old machines out there that work perfect even after 100 years of operation. You could buy one. Use it a couple days and then sell it for what you bought it for.
Thanks for making this I'm trying to make my battle jacket and can't sew all the patches my sewing is bad and didn't want to have someone do it for me. 🤘🏻
I purchased HWK CE Armor Leather motorcycle jacket going put black & white two US Navy patches on it! Watching your video see how put it on! Thanks for your video!
Just sew on, if you find the leather too hard to pierce use a pair of pliers to push/pull the needle. if you ever change your mind and want to remove a patch, you out of luck if you used glue. 😮💨
It costs a bit more, but get them sew on, they look way better if done properly and are not going to start falling off, plus you can remove them without making a big mess of the leather!
I sometimes use glue ( for small patches) but, dont use tape, just dressmakers chalk draw around patch for posision. Just check glue is clear finish(not white) fabric glue to leather compatible! Other method is using hemming tape( cheap, flexible)! Draw around placement, cut hemming tape to size, t towel damp, iron set to medium, place patch, damp t towel, then, iron on! Done immediately as cooled 30secs. No waiting! Boom! Then go rock the look!
I've damaged my neck resulting in a pinched nerve from sewing patches onto my jacket last week..pain I'm in is immense..arm and hand have numbness and popping ibuprofen I think il use glue..they're all hanging off as I struggled like fk. trying to do it and having to give up.👌👌great vid mate 👌

I used it on my top and bottom Rockers, Center Patch, even the patches on the front. Lasted over a year now. There's been some small sections on the back where I've had to reglue part of a Patch down because the back of my Cut makes contact with a lot of shit. I've even done other members Patches. I've tried other brands of Super glue but Gorilla Glue Super Glue is king.
Thanks for this. I have read about gluing patches onto leather elsewhere, but it's very helpful to see it done. One question, do you have to do anything extra to glue on patches that have an iron-on material already applied to the back surface?
Are usually go to my local shoe repair he doesn’t for me usual cost for a nice size patch eight dollars done depending on how many patches you have you can add up but nothing crazy
For mines , I rotate them ( JESUS , WATAIN , black Panther ) in the office and so far it’s normal wear and tear . Much love for taking the time to reply instagram.com/p/Cb_bsh4LQ8Y/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Wow you should be making a video 🙏 thanks for the tips and of course Triumphs Rock 🤘
I'm also a daily rider and have a 2016 Rocket III Roadster! Love Triumphs! My other bike is an Indian but Triumph will always be my fav!

Great idea how you used the tape. And black marker. Thanks for sharing. Love it!
You’re welcome

Great Job Glue Man! best video I have ever seen about gluing on patches.
cheers dude :)
Im using this to put a patch on a guitar strap. They’re both leather so I think it’ll work the same way

Hi. I have just got a leather waist coat for patches and just wondering if the glueing on style leaves the patch stiff?? Thanks for your videos. 👍👍
Not at all

cheers and your health is worth everything or you'll not be riding....chillax and glue those patches 👍
From sewing patches? Jeez, hope your okay lass. Are you in Scotland Elaine??

Vest best glue jacket sir❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you liked it. Did you find the other small patch?
Yup I’m thinking of the right position for placement 👍😎

I thought I was the only one who touched up me clothing with black permanent marker. 👌
Do you have to use tomebond or does any other brand work also?
There are others but you’ll have to figure it out dude.
I wonder if you have ever tried glue product called Tear Mender? Another awesome fabric glue😁
I haven’t but will look into it Tammy cheers 👍
Does it work good on leather? Really looking for a great alternative to sewing on my patches
Gorilla Glue every time but if you leave the club you need to buy a new leather, taking off the patch kills the leather!
I feel like glue would ruin the leather over time, does my assumption of this have some truth to it or no?
No all good 👍
What kind/model is your helmet mate shown on the video?
That’s a Ruroc helmet mate 👍
Great video ! is that time bond glue flexible enough for leather? cheers
I got to attach my new rockers to my vest... another biker brother told me that he just uses gorilla glue and his patches have stayed on at 150mph
Bionic
We need an update on the wear and tear bro .
Wore that jacket for a year then it’s been in the cupboard since and still ok.

man, this glue maybe not good idea. I recomend any epoxy glue bicomponent for you will the best . 👍
Good idea 👍
mate....voice level 3 twangy music level 15!
chuck norris ?
Yup 😉
I think it would of been much better to have someone sew it on. Cleaner as well.
Brilliant you very good..
Brilliant tutorial. I'm going to try it on my seat.
Go for it!
Well that’s exactly what I expected from the title. Now we know what not to do.
Not the Guns N’ Roses hat
I was thinkin if I could use a strong flexible adhesive to slap a Mf flag on my baseball glove, it’s Steerhide
That Triumph patch looks great on what we on the Canadian prairies call a vest. I might just do that myself.
go for it :)
Thats cool
👍🏼
👍👍
Boogers in a can 😂👍
Can you use super glue?
I wouldn’t
