    is there a way to stop the relay pulsing on on power up? As in the video my relay briefly pulses on when power applied. I want to use my relay to send signal to open a gate but if everytime there is a power interruption the gate would open on power up not really ideal.

    Do we still need a relay if our power source for the arduino is a 12v Battery (Like for motorcycles) and light up a bulb from a 12v Battery power source also?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watch the video, you will know the relay is a switch. If you need to turn light ON or OFF in a certain way like turn on for 3 sec and off for 8 sec then you need Arduino and the relay (or there is a programmable relay module). If that is not the case then use normal switch.

      Hi, what do you mean by "how can i long the light on" do you mean "How can I change the time the light is ON?" if so, then just add delay(2000); after the line where the light is ON. this will keep it on for 2 seconds. for 10 seconds make it 10000 (millisecond) and so on. the same way you can do it with OFF.

    • @robojax

      This is very normal. There are two types of relays. Your relay is LOW level trigger. Meaning it is activated with LOW and goes OFF with HIGH. For this reason the code looks the opposite of what you expect.

    • @robojax

      earth is for safety. You should cut live. But neutral will also work. Live is somewhat safer.

    • @ArcanePath360

      Please be careful. In AC Earth means something different. In DC earth is really what neutral is in AC. When transferring AC to DC you ignore the AC Earth.

    Hi Robojax, nice video thank you!
    Does it matter whether the relay is inserted in the "live" or the "neutral" side of the mains AC supply? I can't help thinking the appliance would be permanently "live" if the relay were inserted in the neutral side. Thanks!

    • @robojax
      @robojax  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In many countries, the live and neutral wires are not distinguished when plugging in the device. If you can distinguish it, connect neutral for safety purpose.
      But in terms of operations, it doesn't make any difference.

    • @waltermessines5181
      @waltermessines5181 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Robojax...thanks for this great video and source for all the projects. Really appreciated. You might want to check with an electrician / electrical engineer on the statement that "In many countries, the live and neutral wires are not distinguished when plugging in the device. If you can distinguish it, connect neutral for safety purpose. ". It's not 100% false, yet not accurate either. And the difference between the two can harm people. I suggest you read the book of Karl Riley (Tracing EMF's).

    Hi Robojax, will the relay get warm at all when we use it to control a 10W LED? And if you have time please do a tutorial or review on the HLK-PM01 power supply. Thanks.

    • @robojax
      @robojax  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just check the specs. It is AC to DC converter and maximum current it can handle is 3W at 5V. So you are over loading it by the factor of 3. See photo if this is the right product. ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO/220173842/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO.jpg
      So you have to reduce the load to 3W or lower.

    I want to run pneumatic solenoid (24 Volt DC) using Arduino....do I need a 24 volt battery for it or just a 9Volt small battery connection to the Arduino is enough?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arduino needs it is own power so 9V will work for it. For your solenoid, you need separate power. In this case instead of bulb use your solenoid and instead of AC use your 24V.

    Hi Robojax, as a beginner and really concerned of safety. I would like to ask, does it matter whether you use the negative or positive side of the lamp wires? thanks in advance.

    • @robojax
      @robojax  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once AC is connected the relay should not be touched. when you connect AC lamp wire. We have no + or - but we have Live and Neutral. In some countries and some plugs you can connect the plug to the wall in any ways you like, so you will not know which once is live and which one is neutral. It will make it much safer if you connect the neutral wire. But when the light is OFF, there is still possibility of harm unless the plug is disconnected.

    Hi, is this a low level trigger or high level trigger relay?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, when you see digitalWrite(8, HIGH); and if this line turns the bulb ON, then it is HIGH trigger. Here is the other relay where Low Level trigger is shown th-cam.com/video/g6k8sPJyif8/w-d-xo.html

    connected esp pin as input pin to relay,
    5v dv to VCC of relay.

      Thang Tons I'm a complete beginner so I'm probably getting this wrong - but is the key here when he sets pin 7 as an OUTPUT pin therefore only outputting a signal and not receiving anything (i.e voltage). Please can someone clever step in here and clarify! Thank you

    Can you run it on 3v ?
    You said it needed 5v but would i really need a voltage regulator to run this?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes if you relay is 3.3V. I haven't seen 3V, but if you have it, yes you can.

    What are you connecting to Arduino in ac side relay is it neutral common

    • @robojax
      @robojax  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure what you are asking. Arduino works with 5V which you can connect a battery or power adapter or USB charger. Then for AC, has 2 wires which I have shown to cut one and use relay to connect and disconnect it for you. you can watch this video th-cam.com/video/N-xbxtGGoHw/w-d-xo.html which shows wiring diagram if you want to learn more.

      Does it matter In which side ac voltage is put in relay in the two wire hot and neutral

    Hi
    Realy very nicely explained.
    Now I want to control this relay at specific time on and off, with the help of RTC DS3231. But could not find the library for DS3231.
    Can you please help with the code.

    Question.
    If im using a welder, I wanted it to turn on when my Gcode starts my tool path start weld and I want it to turn off when my tool path changes position then I want it to turn back on when i want to make another weld. How would that be coded?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know how do you get the output from your tools that work with Gcode. But it seems very simple. assuming you get output from your tool on a wire that goes HIGH or 5V and LOW or zero Volts. than you can connect it to Arduino for example pin 5
      so Here I have written a code for you codeshare.io/GAnNrx please let me know if you were able to make it work

    Bro how are you embedding the code to automatically run on startup of the unit when powered?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can set the relay to be OFF or ON at power up. Just put the code inside setup() and it will behave like that if it was OFF or ON.

      Robojax it should be the same circuit schematic as what you did here except using the hot from the extension chord instead of the lamp..one end of the hot wire should connect to NC and the other to C..is this correct?
