Jessica Marie that's what's shown in the video. Aggressive behaviour only insights more aggressive behaviour and the point is to avoid that. The system is put in place to stop and punish people for such behaviour. Also, the aggression shown indicates a lack of self control.
That poor lad being told to “just ignore it” is the problem with our society! He should have been told to immediately report it! If he knew he had someone who’d take him seriously he probably wouldn’t have tried to deal with it himself! He wasn’t even that physical with him but I understand the school have to ensure it doesn’t continue!

I feel so sorry for Girhan, even in this short clip you can tell he’s a nice lad. Schools need to do more than just say “this is unacceptable”. Curriculum’s need to be adjusted to teach kids about why it’s not okay. As a white British man, it’s important to stand up against these sorts of things. Girhan, and everyone in his situation are more than welcome here.

4:49 I forgot what it was like walking behind a teacher at school. It's like following a sales assistant at Tesco when you can't find a product. They walk at 100mph and expect you to keep up.

Shoriful Haque Talk? I mean I get your context, and in a parallel universe or a Disney movie, talking may have worked. But I guarantee you if he tried to talk to this boy about what he said, he would have been a victim and the boy would have started bullying him. I thought he dealt with the situation in a very adult way, he told him not to say it again and made it clear not to say it again to another Muslim. He didn’t punch him or hurt him, he was very much in control.

@@pigeon1426 it’s things that are subtle and often brushed off as ‘not meant that way’, when it comes to issues like racism. for example someone on a talk show saying a ‘celeb’s dreadlocks look like they smell of weed’ even when the celeb has done nothing to earn that association. it is easily denied but stems from ignorance and unwillingness to recognise one’s unconscious bias.
You can really tell those kids who said “they get paid more than us.” “There is no more place for others.” Are heavily influenced by their parents.

I do not like the fact that a young boy is being told to 'just ignore' racist comments towards him. He did not hurt the perpetrator physically so why was he getting written up. Schools should be addressing the fact that kids cannot 'ignore' racism directed towards them unless they want to spend every day of their life being mocked
If my teacher told me to "ignore it" I would flip, honestly, it annoys me so much when people say "ignore" to racism.

Girhan's reactions was absolutely needed towards the guy who made the comment! if he ignored it and didn't show that react who knows what would he face later... he just taught that guy a lesson in a way that makes him regretting what he's done without even hurting him, he genuinely looked real strong I think he had a tough past.

@Random Songs In Locrian She's not right. Often times immigrants get paid significantly less per hour than British nationals, but they work like 18hrs a day. Unless they're asylum seekers they don't recieve government aid.

I'm from OKC , OK ,USA and I was impressed how the Headmaster dealt the situation and the conversation with the young making those racial comments . In my opinion this is the man we need over in America to give the youth a better understanding about racism and bullying .

The only danger he was put under was a contribution to the downfall of the reputations of Muslims, i.e. that "Islam is a religion of peace", so naturally, he thought he would help propagate the idea that "Islam is a religion of peace" by threatening violence.

Kids are so young and are learning quite literally, a LOT of new things. Its the of each other (especially adults) to teach about loving each other as mates by helping, guidance, and taking care of each other NO MATTER the skin color. Hence, they deserve a lot chances and discipline towards good guidance.

I used to be a goodie two shoes back in school I always listened to my teacher's who told me to just ignore them I didn't realise they would rather just have me suffer in silence to make their lives easier. They can still do their education again go back to college get good grades and go to uni and get a well paying job. My mum who is a immigrant went to college here at age 40 and graduated from uni in her late 40s/early 50s, all while having a job and 2 children to take care of, as well as my dad starting up his contraction business by going to college about it learning through youtube, then starting it up and grinding so hard day and night to provide. That's what got my parent to the position they are today. Through hard work. And british people are just as capable, but they don't want to

i don’t understand why he keeps saying things like “the children that have come in here” to describe ethnic minority students and then says “the students that have already been here” to describe the white british students. If the teachers cannot view ethnic minority students to have a genuine place at school how do you expect the other students to do the same. The problem is that too many teachers and leaders of schools are ignorant and educated about the needs of ethnic minority children in a systematically oppressing institution themselves and neglect those needs as a result.
He says that because the ethnic demographic of the area has only recently changed, and some refugee children have only just recently come in to the school.
I think it's because that change was recent. Most of the students he was describing hadn't been born in the UK. I myself am one of those people except I moved to London, and not wherever that school is, when I was 9. I moved back to Italy when I was 13 and now I'm 15. Tbh, I don't think people realise how lucky they are to be living in the UK. When I moved to England, they tried to do everything to help me integrate into society, which is why I highly appreciate my primary school teachers. I didn't get anywhere near that same help when I moved back to Italy. I'm saying this because I feel like that teacher was just trying his best to help the students out so I think it's a bit harsh to say he's ignorant. He's just trying to do his job. People like him are rare outside the UK so we should be grateful he exists.

The fact that Girhan was told to ‘ignore’ racism is infuriating. He’s being told to ignore being singled out for the rest of his life. And props to Girhan for NOT overreacting. He shoved him and told him not to do it again, most people, including adults, wouldn’t have reacted that way.
Sometimes I feel sorry for teachers because you'll often get kids who aren't actually sorry for what they've done and it'll be pretty obvious they're either:
1. Pretending to be sorry (putting on the waterworks, telling teachers what they think they want to hear)
2. Just upset that they're getting shouted at without actually taking any responsibility for what they've done/said.
Also, school culture is different. Sure in the real world if you experience discrimination or issues with your peers you can report it to management, but in school it's more likely that this method will just 'out' him as a 'grass', opening him up to more abuse. He was right to set him straight, without actually assaulting him. The head teacher seemed to treat it like 2 boys fighting and nothing more, which isn't very fair.
