    Maybe it's just me, but I think it's very subjective. I liked her better in some colors than the ones chosen as "best."

      There's definitely some art to picking out the best color, and sometimes more than one color is going to look good on a person, but overall, one category of colors will stand out as consistently looking flattering. In this case it's the warm, bold colors; the soft pastels really wash her out. But there are colors (like coral in the pinks) where it was really hard to choose a best.

      Did you happen to like here well in the Winter colors (cooler but still high saturation), since Sakura is a Deep Autumn, she looks great in Deep and Cool colors as well. What you're looking for in a color category is an overall trend. You'll notice that most of the pastel, pale colors don't stand up to the her complexion while the powerful, rich colors too. Indiivudal tastes may vary on the occasional color, but the overall trend tends to be more universal.

    I think the reason other colours sometimes look good is because you can have cool tones in your hair and warm tones in your skin, so you kinda choose what will pop most, but if you want to look healthiest you probably want to make your skin pop the most with colours that bring out 'healthy undertones'

I think the colour of my eyes together with the colour of my hair doesn't look so good and this combination is confusing me and I can't decide if deep or bright colours look better on me. You are a deep autumn. The deep winter is your 'sister type'. So you can wear the darker shades from the dark winter shades too :-) This means you can go for black as well but white is not a very good choice. If you want to wear white make sure you are wearing a vanilla tone which is a bit warm.

    I have been following you for a while, and I just wanted to say that I love your videos and overall channel Reachel! I believe that I am a soft autumn, with a neutral skintone. My hair is not as gold as the many celebrity examples shown for soft autumns, actually it is just mousy brown (It has a goldy tone in sunlight, being the only exception), and I was wondering if I could wear dark plum, raisin purplish shades on my lips? Is that too overdone, suiting a true-autumn instead, or can I still wear it?

    • @reachelbagley
      @reachelbagley  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eggplant or aubergine purple can be very pretty on a Soft Autumn. I would probably look for a color that's not entirely matte since that shade is pretty dark, or maybe look for a warm gloss to wear on top to take out some of the intensity.

    Hi Reachel Bagley ...first of all have a great 2017. This topic is something I always think I understand but I still don't. Plus, people around us aren't honest..I have dark brown hair and eyes and pale skin. I know dark colors look good on me (deep red, blue, dark purple). But what about the lighter shades? Do they all necessarily make girls like me look 'sick' or something? Colors like baby blue, creamy green, peachy colors, pinks?? And what about brown? I happen to adore all shades of brown and wear them regularly. I guess I'd appreciate your opinion on this - thanxs anyway!

    • @reachelbagley
      @reachelbagley  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ismene, With dark brown hair, dark eyes, and pale skin, you're probably a Deep Winter or a Deep Autumn. If you like browns, it's likely you're a Deep Autumn (Deep Winter's typically don't favor browns). Baby blue, powder pink, and lavender are typically poor colors for a Deep Autumn, but peachy corals, olive greens, etc can be really flattering. You can always choose any color and see if a lighter/ brighter/ darker or more dull you like it the most on you. I'm pretty sure you will end up so sorprised finding out you have a ton of variation that look good on you. (And this particular video does not explain a lot of this about fashion). You can look for more videos.

    Hi, Reachel! I found it fascinating that when looking at the four colors, my eyes would gravitate to the winner and it was actually difficult to draw them away to check out the other three colors. It goes to show how powerful the RIGHT color can be! I'm so eager to see more videos like this!

    I used an app called Color Grab. It shows my skin being in the Orange-Brown or Orange-Yellow. So on a color wheel, dusty blue is the complementary color. The dusty blue and pastel blue makes me look terrible. Makes me look like I have bags under my eyes. Jeweled blues like dark teal make me look healthy. Green is my difficult area. I tried olive tones, but to me, it makes me look sallow or jaundice or more olive green. On the RGB percentages, I had a lot of red 81.2% followed by a lot of green 63.5% and blue was the lowest value 51%. On the CMYK percentages, I had a lot of yellow compared to magenta and black. There was no blue. Tried a jungle green shirt and it was strongly saturated and I didn't look sallow. Greens and blues are more confusing than any other area. So I'll have to keep experimenting. I know I definitely need strong colors. Soft tones don't do a thing for me.

    Thanks! I just realized at age 42 that this is my colour palette. I am always drawn to these colours and have noticed my favourite pastels look awful on me and I do not feel good in them no matter how much I adore them. Now I can focus on my wardrobe with more intention. 😘

    I hope people aren't hard on themselves if they don't get all of these questions right. Firstly, which colors look best is somewhat subjective. Second, this girl is wearing makeup for the video, so that can throw you off. Third, it can be challenging to do this test watching someone on camera, not to mention with studio lights as opposed to natural light. I'm not trying to be overly critical, as this exercise was still enjoyable, but just giving some perspective.

    I picked most of the right ones. I never really liked fushia or pink on me. I do like salmon color though, so pretty. I also have own most of the colors that suit me apparently. I really liked the video, it has given me some ideas for more colors to explore.

    I don't know if I'm a Soft or Deep Autumn, I have light skin with yellow undertones I think, which tans very easily and gets freckles when exposed to the sun. My hair is ashy light brown and gets golden highlights with the sun, and I have deep brown eyes, almost black. What am I if I have low contrast hair but dark eyes? Help :(

    I kind of cheated since I first saw this on cardigan empire's site but it's really helpful! I'm closer to a deep autumn and can borrow from some deep winter colors but I never knew I looked so bad in pastels 😅

    I mean I believe in color analysis, but the backgrounds are different in some of the examples which makes me think there's some editing to make it more obvious-- which gives me doubt.

    how would wearing hijab play into this do u think? :P thanks!

    • @reachelbagley
      @reachelbagley  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Because a hijab is worn so close to the face, the color is going to make a huge impact on the complexion. It's probably the most important article of clothing you'll put on color wise. It would be really interesting to do a video about this. Thanks for watching!

      I totally agree about the need for diversity in color theory and have been working on draping more women of color for experience. It's so fun to see the differences. I would agree about determining your color without your hijab first and then picking a flattering color based on your decision. Good luck!

    Hi Reachel, thank you for posting this video. I look very much like the model here. I think I also have a warm autumn skin tone. I am thinking about buying a new trench coat and a new cashmere coat. I am debating between the honey color and black color burberry trench coat. I am wondering if I look better in the recently discontinued stone color better than the honey color. I am afraid the honey color would wash me out. But I am afraid the black color would be too boring and look too heavy in spring and autumn. I am also debating between the max mara camel color coat and black color coat. I think black is a staple but I like camel color better. The trouble is I am not sure if camel is my color and if it will wash me out as well. Could you give me some advice? I think you mentioned in the posts that black might be too contrasting for a warm autumn?
