Good video but my priorities are a little different so I would suggest the G85/85. The G85 has a couple things that are well worth the extra money including a much better image stabilization system, weather sealed body, unlimited record time versus 30 minute on G7, etc. If you are going to use this for video at all then the G85 is definitely worth the difference in price and more.
Yeah don't forget the g80/g85 is able to output audio and video via HDMI WHILE recording. The G7 cannot. So you can't attach an external monitor to the g7 to monitor real-time like the G85. More to filming than just keeping a camera still on a tripod. Yes G7 for that but G8 for mostly everything else. Not sure about the side by side video quality since there was a white balance gaff.
august 2018 on amazon europe : G7 naked : 449 G7 + 14-42 : 535 G80 naked : 629 G80 + 12-60 : 889 14-42 : 204 12-60 : 388 You save 100 on G7 and 128 on G80. Price difference is 334 for a better lens, image stabilisation, metal body and a few minor upgrades.
Yep, was there a question here or just pointing out? It totally depends on whether you’re starting to do hand held work. I did some for my recent video series and the difference of the stabiliser was worth the extra money BUT it’s only if you’ll use it 😊
For those who record longer videos, there is a huge advantage to the G85 (U.S. version). It records the clips (of any length) as one file, and does not break them up. The G7 limits the video length, and breaks the video into pieces. I have heard that when they are joined together, they often are missing a frame or two.
It's worth noting two things here. 1. The G85 (G80) in Europe is limited to 30 minute chunks. And 2. While the G7 has the same limit, those 30 minute video limits can be removed via maintenance mode. EDIT: The info I was given was bad, i.e. the limit can be removed. It can't. Unless it's a HK, USA or AUS version of the camera, it will have the limit.
taking into acount that G80 has live HDMI output it is easily possible to override this limit by using HDMI frame grabber, like AverMedia LGP2 etc. with the advantage of highly customizable encoding settings (up to loseless H.264)
Good video! The reason I just got the G85 was because of the no file limit on it. With the G7 you have a 4GB file limit with a record time of up to 30 minutes (which can be eliminated, but not the file limit). This isn't the case for the G85, at least here in North America. There is a chance of running into problems with your sound if you are recording to an external digital recorder when lining up the separate files. If it weren't for that I would have bought the G7. Stabilization also helps if you are vlogging without a tripod, something I haven't needed as of yet, but only available on the G85.
there's a "hack" to put the g7 in service mode and increase the record limit....i did it to mine and now the time limit listed on my lcd is like 2h 47m which is probably as much as my sd card holds....there's a vid here on TH-cam on how to do it ..its very easy
@@vajabri the g7 pal the time limit stays after you put it in service mode the only thing that changes is the fps in eu pal they use 50 fps and if your in service mode it gives you 60 fps but the recording limit stays 20 min pal cameras not even 30 as yours do !
they record video virtually identical ..g85 has IBS, weather sealing, and a magnesium body...thats all. I have the g7 but will be getting a g85 soon because those extra features are pretty cool but I don't expect the video quality to improve in any way besides being more stabilized
xHOTDAMNxHBx interesting you should ask. I have an academy teaching how I do the lot and just today was thinking I need to do some specific blog posts. Find me on Facebook as that will always be the easiest way to see what I’m up to 😉 Adrian Salisbury
SLR Coaching.com it's hard to find anything on Facebook because of their algorithms. So frustrating... I stick to TH-cam and Google. FB Page looks nice but how Facebook decides to show it is a complete mess.
Great video. The only thing that keeps me from getting the G85 is the placement of the mic jack. It blocks the screen when you have it flipped out to the side. Absolutely dumb design
veganbodybuilding I have the G85 and the ibis works amazing in video at HD and 1080p. It's the Gx8 that doesn't have IBIS work in 4k, only optional stabilization at that point. Otherwise, if you don't need ibis, weather sealing and unlimited record times your G7 will do. If you do want it, the G85 is a beast!
It seems like he hasent been tweaking around with the settings of the lumix G7 so that is Why They look a bit diffrent. They both have the same sensor and auto focus. So if you are filming on a tripod indoors like this guy (NON) of the featerus matter on the g80

Matt B. Yes, I hoped I explained that in the video about the stabiliser although the G80 still has a limit

I actually got my G7 with the kit lens for less than 500 during a sale on Amazon a few months ago!
What I want from a camera is the image I could get. But is the image quality the same in those cameras=]

Great video. I’m a G7 owner.
Ray Loot cool! Are you using it for video?
What camera do you use?
great review, thanks! Looking at the G80 and this really helped.
Jules Spencer thank you 😊
What about the humm noise in the G80? Is it fixed?
DenilBase never had that issue, with what mic?
What settings did you have when you were shooting with the G7?

Can confirm they are missing 1 to 2 frames between the pieces. Using a G7 with kit (14-42)
Good video. What lens did you use to shoot this actual video?
Brad Hertzog 20mm
Adrian Salisbury 20mm pancake? Thanks!
Hi there, which Brand and Model of 20 mm Lens did you use for this? Thanks
Ian Suster panasonic 20mm pancake lens 👍

Vasko Belovski good choice 👍

the g85 is better because of the in body stabilization and weather sealing though

How do you like the g85 ?
Very helpful vid. thanx!!
Could you write what kind of app it is and where can I find it?
Sztuka Retuszu That's The Panasonic image app. It connects to the cameras via Wi-Fi.
What lens are you using on the G7?
Liam Bushrod 20mm prime
Adrian Salisbury Thank you!
For video Pana G7 or Canon 200d?
Do you have a video showing how you light your filming setup?
xHOTDAMNxHBx interesting you should ask. I have an academy teaching how I do the lot and just today was thinking I need to do some specific blog posts. Find me on Facebook as that will always be the easiest way to see what I’m up to 😉 Adrian Salisbury

extremely helpful! thank you :-)

Noel E haha tell me about it. You could get an L shaped adapter if you wanted. The G7 is higher
what did you use for audio?
risa ete shotgun mic just out of view above my head
Adrian Salisbury what mic are you using please? Thank you for his video it’s the decision I am currently making!!
I thought the G85 in body image stabilising is only on photographs, and doesn't work on video? That's why I stuck with a G7...

G85 - with IBIS and G7 - None.. a game changer for some users. A very impt. feature you didn't mention.
I don't think you watched this, that's the main difference between the two that I talked about!
incredibly handsome
LOL!
Nah g85 is better for filming overall
It seems like he hasent been tweaking around with the settings of the lumix G7 so that is Why They look a bit diffrent.
They both have the same sensor and auto focus. So if you are filming on a tripod indoors like this guy
(NON) of the featerus matter on the g80
That pile a Bricks which is what I said 😉
Examples please
ISLANDTECH PTX of what? The whole thing is shot showing the difference between the two.
How much G7?
Call me silly but i love my G7 for filming. But... useless as a camera my opinion of course. Lol 😆
yeah, I kind of agree, this is an old video ;)
