Honestly I'm a fan since 2015 and I really like their new direction. I only wish the mix was a little better and the vocals a little louder 😅 P.S - I wasn't a fan of Deja Vu at all and I still prefer their first three albums, particularly Noir which is still my favorite Novelists album.
No, been a fan for a while now...I loved the original singer (Mateo) but Camille is a ton of fun and has an amazing voice. I guess I never knew I needed "fashion-core" in my life, but here we are...
i agree, this sound is more unique and sonically "novel" than anything they've done before, and I say that as a massive Novelists fan. this track, K.O. and Okapi have me very excited about the band's future
I've been going on and off with Novelists for years for the reason you mention - they've been doing what a lot of other bands have been and they haven't really stood out. But bringing Camille in, you can just see the change in the band's vibe, hear the energy and style variation that they've ALL thrown themselves into and I love it. I totally get why so many people complain and say they won't listen anymore - I've been in the exact same boat with many bands too. But I'm 100% in on this new generation for Novelists and cannot wait for the new album.
Yeah, Camille brings such a pop-sensibility to their music (in a - respectfully - 'feminine' way). Was evident pretty early on and I found it really refreshing actually. Saw them live and they killed it as well. And their guitarists are insanely good. Looking forward to the album!
I saw them last month in Brisbane when they toured Australia for the Monolith Festival and they were awesome. They had major issues with their audio setup and couldn't get their sample tracks working but they played on and, while you could hear the impact it had on their overall sound, they were amazing. Camille is every bit incredible live as she is on recordings.
After first listen of this song. Very unique song really dig this. Someone mentioned in your chat on this video it's like a blend of Spiritbox & Paramore and I can totally hear that. The screams are very Courtney-esque in the verses and the chorus I can definitely hear those pop rock Paramore vibes.
I think this was the first time I heard Novelists and I really like this song, there are so many different flavours to it and they all blend well together.
Saw them earlier this year and got to meet Camille. Awesome vibes, even better live performance and sound. Loving all of the releases with her. Sure its different than where they came from, but thats kinda the point/fun in music, especially music that bands like this make!
Been a long listener and a big fan of Camille. The live set they did a while ago gives me chills especially with her singing Lost Cause. Glad this band has kept its stride as the musicians all together are super talented.
I haven't been able to stop listening to Coda since it dropped, absolutely hooked. This song has so many layers and things going on and I just love it!
She can dance cause she's a part of a dance crew here near Marseille :) Also fire song, love em! Don't forget to check the new Landmvrks man, it's also fire af.
Thanks for you're reaction ! Yes CC can sing, scream, and dance. And put emotion in interpretation of song. Just brilliant. In 🇫🇷 we have now some people claiming to bring back old novelists... But sure not me ❤
Im a big fan of Novelists older stuff (first 3 albums) but ever since Deja Vu ive been very iffy about them. I took a good listen to this song when it was first released and was pleasantly surprised. Cool grooves, insanely catchy chorus, and some sick solos by Pierre Danel (which I absolutely ADORE his work in Kadinja). Would like to see some more stuff like this from them.
Best chorus I've heard all year. And I'm so happy there's ONE band left that still has a solo in every song. And you're totally right. We have plenty of heavy metalcore bands, we need one that incorporated more pop into it.
Dude, just my 2 cents but I'm super stoked with this Novelists! Sounds exciting, fresh and indeed more unique their own due brilliant vocals and more straightforward songwriting.. excited and happy for them! This is promising really! Don't get me wrong, love earlier Novelists with Mateo but as you said it's just very decent progmetalcore with very good vocals. Think they stand out more with this track and K.O.
I’m a newer fan of Novelists, but going through their back catalog, I gotta say I think the old stuff with the male vocalists is great as well as the new stuff with Camille. They are definitely one of if not my favorite metal bands right now. Joining Tesseract right at the top of the list 😊
So I’m gonna go off the beaten path, I’m seeing lots of classic rock influences and 00s pop influences here. Van Halen vibes with the guitar solos and the tone a bit leans toward Eddie’s iconic brown sound. Camille is giving me straight telephone era Lady Gaga vibes, while the band is giving me Rammstein, a little bit of electric callboy. Her vocals remind me a lot of Katy Perry’s vocals with a similar range of Tatiana Shmalyuk of Jinjer, and some of the more pop elements of this song remind me of Katy Perry. Which is why some people may also say it’s Paramore because Katy and Hayley Williams both have similar voices. I enjoyed this a lot, it is something brand new that a lot of metal heads, polyjamorous heads, and normies can equally get their heads around. Her vocals are absolutely insane, she hits super clean head voices without losing the power and drive of her voice. The reason why Courtney and Tatiana are legends in the business is because they both have amazing tonal qualities. Courtney has a Lana del Rey vibe to her voice, and Tatiana has a Stevie Nicks vibe to her voice. Camille has the ability to be the third head on the female metal Mount Rushmore (for me at least). I can’t wait for more stuff from them.
For someone who has been listening to Mr Bungle and Primus since the age of 13 nothing is weird anymore lol also I could even say that the band is better now since she's joined the band
I was soo happy when they came out with this (I call it their) third version of the band, cuz I loved the original sound, original vocalist.. but then after the second album they got realllllly generic, then they lost everything that made them who they were when they had that short second “Nu-metal”ish version of themselves with that second male vocalist. I kinda dropped off listening to them completely at that point, but then I saw a thumbnail for that Turn It Up song and it intrigued me, and I’ve been hooked on them ever since. They made all the right decisions it seems, cuz they have blown up everywhere now
I have always enjoyed this band and love them with Camille but in my opinion the drummer always plays emotionless or at least portrays himself that way. Minimal movement and energy, although efficient lol

Saw them live on the Erra/MTS tour and they blew me away! Been a fan since especially the Camille era
Yes! and I'm obsessed with this song, definitely need to check out more
Camille is such a joyfull, hilarious singer and we need that !

As long as they have THAT guitarist I will listen to Novelists. He’s got soul
You should check out Vana 😭 her music is wild, DEFINITELY not for everyone but she's been mixing hyperpop/darkpop with metalcore
KO was also released at the same time and has a MUCH different vibe. Both are fun but KO is one of the best songs they’ve done IMO
Wow, I know they dropped it but I’m even more hyped to hear it!

My favorite band 😍🤘🏻🔥
The chorus is my favourite part of the track, and I actually think it's really underused in the track.
Absolute banger, imo. Love both new and old Novelists. Vocalists give me some Destiny Potato vibes too.
Ryan Gosling playing guitar is always great.
VUKOVI is my favorite heavy pop band, should probably check them out some time! Edit: lol their latest video is right there first on your recommended
Hahaha I guess I have to then eh

I hate comparing female vocalists BUT she gives me harsh Hayley Williams vibes. Some of the tones are very Paramore.
Camille is a Hayley's fan so you got it right. 👍
wtf I didn’t expect this at all, this is fun
It's Christmas, new Novelist and Landmvrks today!!
Absolute banger ❤
Great tune
Her harsh gives me Tobey Torres vibes from Snake River Conspiracy. I can definitely see Paramore in the cleans though.
NOVELISTS ❤

Pierre is highlights in this song ❤🔥👏👍
Like California girls melody over a Make Them Suffer breakdown
