How To Program A Mercury Sable Remote Key Fob 1998 - 2005

1. Unlock all doors using the power door lock switch on door panel.
2. Turn ignition from OFF to ON 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in ON. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode. (*ON is as far forward as you can turn without starting the vehicle*)
3. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
4. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. (*If you only have one remote to program skip step 4*)
5. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
This worked great on my 2005 Mercury Sable LS. I had to replace the GEM module to get the autolamp feature to work again (and hopefully quiet the ABS alarm) and then my key fob would not work. This did the trick, both key fobs are working again, thanks SO much !

@@PYR-Auto i keep trying to do this but cant get it to work. Tried it with fogs from two different companies but it wont work. I only have one key tho , maybe thats the reason ? Any input on my situation would be helpful

@@PYR-Auto unlocking and locking the car sometimes unlocks the trunk, have you run into this issue?
I actually have not. Do you have more than 1 working remote? If you have that same issues with different remotes it is most likely an issue with the car itself.

I mistakenly hit the trunk release button after I hit the unlock button while the car was in program mode, now all the buttons release the trunk. Any way to fix this?
Did you try to just program it again? Do you have any other remotes for it, do they work properly?
@@PYR-Auto Yup, didn't change anything and no. Just the one key fob...
My car wouldn't start and I did this now it starts weird
This procedure only programs the fob and has no effect on the ignition or the key
Says Sable but in a mustang
This same programming procedure works on many different Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.
