We go out and have fun catching these yellowtails. We have a competition amongst about 15 people where we only catch yellowtail with those kids snoopy rods. It is hilarious. We catch those flags with a little 2 foot kid pole ha.
What kind of reels and rods you run? What you think of Penn Spinfisher v models or Penn battle? Any preference on braid brand, test ratings and shades of color?
I would stick with Shimano. Better quality in my opinion. I use Stradic 5000's for most of my bottom fishing (yellowtail/ muttons), and a Saragosa 10000/ 50lb braid with a Biscayne rod legacy 20lb for drifting or bottom fishing live bait. You can catch 15-20lb fish with the 5000 all day long.
that 36+ yellowfin will run u $250k easy, and alot of the chum is clumped w sand mixed and sent to the bottom, no chemicals EVER, just frozen blocks and sand to sink chunks
Yeaaa!!! Always fishing for the ONE. Always need to have that bottom rod down. And that flat line with a large bait out.
