Gives me the same thrill as when I first heard this sonata performed by Istvan Nadas. Your performance is impeccable, utterly clear, beautiful. Has so many parts often left out or blurred in other performances.❤🎉
@@freredelacote6439 Andor Foldes' is crude and unconsidered. Argerich, Kocsis, and even Lang Lang play better. Same energy, but cleaner and better able to handle the virtuosity.
That sounded absolutely *effortless*!!! Saying this as someone who is... well, trying, to learn this sonata, with less-than-ideal hand size too. The jumps O_O
As Andras Schiff explains, one key to Bartok is parlando…the use of speech rhythms and phrasing cadences during performance. ❤ and to be clear, this performance has parlando❤
Also, keep in mind the prevalence of the “bear dance” rhythms in Hungarian folk musics and the ethnomusicology of Bartok. In some ways the Copeland of his country. Moved to US later in life, last 5 years, and had a difficult time of it.
Could be cleaner--more attention to the score markings, especially the accents and tempo shifts. The 2nd movement a little fast for sostenuto e pesante. Accents don't need to be scorching, but still should be followed. Otherwise, good!
For me the best interpretation of this great sonata!

Every note and phrase is so clear and crisp. This is an excellent rendition.
never heard this sonata before, wandered in via wikipedia's page on scales. this thing kicks ass.
scales? This thing is at LEAST bi-tonal if not all out tone row.

Avez-vous écouté celle d'Andor Foldes ?

You have a terrific touch. Very nice sound.

Maravilloso Maestro!!! Muchas gracias!!!
Best of Bartok sonata!!!

Great performance! 🎶
Nice colors in this one

This is an interesting take on the Bartok Sonata ! Stas makes light of it. Unusual, but it works out and avoids the tiring slog seen elsewere.

Hear the performance of Benno Pierweijer, thats amazing. Benno Pierweijer is world class and died much too young...
Muy bueno
Check out Michelle Candotti's playing, which I view as the benchmark version
Terrific version! Less power (not needed anyway, but more nuance than Kocsis.... :-)

Cubist
maybe more heavy, esp. in first movement?
jesus
I liked his performance but not the sonata. Never liked that one
Yeah same. The melody is weird. That surely makes the piece a lot harder to play too lmao
Didn't get it for a while myself. Starts to make more sense if you think about the melodies as chromatic perversions of Hungarian folk tunes.

Thumbs down due to ads.
Lmao, you're like complaining about tax when paying for a service or buying goods
Bro it's the official pianist's account let him make some money he has the right lmao
