Who's here in 2024? Damn, Unc. This is such a difficult episode to take in. On one hand, it's some of the best guitar playing I've heard. On the other, it's the reality of Ms. Sarah. Coming from the present, I know you're in a good place. Hope it continues that way brother.
Wow; Episode 99 was certainly a memorable one. Sorry to hear all of that, Uncle Larry; all of you take care . And the garage was cool, but without you playing in it, it's just a garage. 😎
Love your playing and your humor, but man you are an oak for keeping the lessons going with all your own crap going on. You helped a lot of people immensely during a terrible year and may it all come back to you manyfold.
@@nickbouvy6524 No, but he had mentioned before it just wasn't a particular genre that resonated well with him (my words), however, at times we can all relate.
When the UK went into lockdown last March I thought it would be over by Easter. When I realised it wasn't going to happen, I went to a bad place in my head and spent a lot of time on TH-cam and Netflix. I found HSCC in Australia - who play stuff that I hated in the 80s but there is something very infectious about them. And one day I came across Uncle Larry! I don't even play the guitar! But hanging out in Uncle Larry's garage became a daily joy. I love your humour, common sense and basic decency. There are life lessons to be gained from Homeskooolin. I am so sad to hear about you and Sarah. And also so proud of your game face in this world full of narcissists and victims. I will never meet you and probably can do nothing to help you. But I am moving with you to the new ranch house, saying farewell to the garage, and will sit with you under the chandelier for as long as you want to do this. Thanks, man for everything you have done for the Homeskoolers.
There have been countless heartfelt and sincere comments over the past four years, but this one made me tear up. A lot of us feel this way. Homeskoolin has always been way beyond guitar lessons.
Hey Tom - Uncle Larry’s brave face es mas macho, just like his guitar playing. But take it from one who has been through a divorce with two young sons, it’s gonna leave a mark. You’ve shared so much wisdom with us over this last year, may I share one bit of advice with ya. Spend as much time with your sons as you can. You will never regret it. Fifteen years from now the only regret you might have is that you didn’t spend MORE time with them. Speak to the world through your guitar. Speak to your sons with your time and attention. Thanks for sharing your talent and your life with all of us. We be your family too. ✌️✌️
I refuse to accept this, even though it happened years ago, I just saw it. I'll be in denial for some time.....thank you both and your whole family for all the warmth and humor you have given us in the garage years. I'm going to cry now......which is rare for me.
This is the most rational and matter of fact I have ever heard someone talk about this kind of stuff. You are a cool dude Uncle Larry and your kids are lucky to have such a well adjusted Dad.
You know what man, I learn more from watching you jam than I do from slick teaching videos. I love that you do it from your basement. I love listening to your kids screaming in the background. I love it when your lovely wife comes down and sing songs. (that's what me and my wife do) I love that you are a bit rough round the edges, but watching you work with people, you're a good human being. Just keep doing it bro.
I’m really sorry Uncle Larry. You’ve done so much for us over the last year, I wish we could do more for you. We’re all here to support you and grateful to learn from you.
I wish we could do more too...he’s done so much for me and my love for guitar. Changed my whole approach to the instrument and he also let us into the behind the scenes world of a session man pretty much no one has ever done before.
52,800 people magically connected with each other by the Internet and the music of a man in a garage. Tom, your class might be from dozens of countries and have many other differences, but you have united us by sharing your hard-earned craft and now, your humanity. Our collective spare bedrooms are yours, wherever you want to travel and crash.
The very first thing that enters my mind when I hear the word divorce is children. I know from personal experience and seeing it with friends how hard it can be. I Truly hope and pray your kids are fine man. Much love brother.
What's up homeschoolers it's March 30th 2024 and after watching a whole bunch of videos culminating with the wonderful Easter version of homeschooling today I have gone back to watch all the videos and I have found this one I'll tell you what I love that guitar that our Uncle Larry is playing I don't know why but man oh man this one of my favorite episodes wish you all the best and is glad to see our Tommy came out of everything okay just like we knew he would
I divorced after 22 years . Never easy . Life always moves forward . It has to. The worse part of divorce is the feeling of failure . Failing yourself and shit . That fades and gets better . Your openness is so great .
Aw man. Can't help but feel a little sad about all that, Tom. We all love you all. Don't stress the setting; Homeskoolin' isn't a location, its wherever Uncle Larry sets his phone, does some awesome playing and drops some wisdom.
A wise man in episode 85 said "We all get replaced". No truer words were ever spoken. Having the grace to live in the moment is the key to happiness. You'll find love again if you haven't already.
Tom, if you never filmed another video, played another note for us, or decided to pull the plug on Homeskoolin’ altogether...you certainly have that right, and we’d all understand. You have gifted us-including yours truly-with so much guitar playing wisdom, as well as your incredible gift of humor, love, and time. We are all better for it.
Tom, I’m Sorry to hear about you and Sarah...😨 sounds like you guys are doing as good as you can be in spite the situation. Divorce, Pandemics, and Floods, ...Damn!! Uncle Larry needs a break. The Homeskoolin Alumni love you and we are here for you 🍺🍺🍺🎸🎸🎸
Tom, just want to let you know I hold you in high regard not only as an excellent session guitarist, but as an authentic human. The honesty and humility you bring to these sessions is a joy to behold. I have never heard you speak ill of anyone either within or outside of the music business. You are a good man. You taken some painful hits but this will pass. Take your time to grieve and then move on. We are all on your side.
Hey Tom, You can take Uncle Larry out of the garage, but you can never take the garage out of Uncle Larry! Thank you for always sharing your authentic grit and incendiary playing. YOU are appreciated by endless classmates you’ve never met. Your impact over this past year is a blessing for many. All the best and well wishes. I’ll still be tuning in along the journey ahead.
I’m so sorry to hear about your divorce. To think how generous you’ve been in sharing all this amazing music knowledge whilst going through such a tough time. I’m even more thankful for all that you’ve done for us and I hope all the best for you and you family through this transition in your life.
I'm surprised at how gutted I was at hearing this news. Almost like I'd heard good friends of mine were divorcing. So sad and hope things improve for you all.
Hi Tom ,this is Karim .I am a french guitarist . I discovered your homeskoolin' lessons at the very beginning of the pandemic and i have to say : you made my day every single time mate .I am so so glad to have discovered you in my lifetime . The way you play ,your musicallity creativity ,your tone your huge culture are so inspirational to me . thanks a million!! cheers Karim
I think anyone with any sense will agree that we'd listen to you play and share your thoughts from any spot on this ball of mud. I wasn't tuning in to see that old garage - that was just a room. You were what made it special, just as you'll make the next location special. When I heard the news I was originally going to say I'm sorry to hear about your personal situation, but I know that was a move neither of you made without a lot of hard thought and you wouldn't have come to that decision if it hadn't eventuated that it was the right move. What I'll say instead is that I'm sending a ton of love to you and your family, and I wish you the absolute best with whatever the next adventure is - I and many others will definitely be there in your corner. One thing I am sorry to hear about is that flooding situation, and I admire your resilience and you keeping a positive outlook. All the best brother, looking forward to your next vid.
Hey Tommy! "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in." Thanks for growing this channel. Thanks for making me a better player.
Bless you, brother. I mean uncle. And bless Sarah too. Wherever you are, I'm tuning in. You've been lifting us all up these last many months. I hope you can feel the love back. In other news, my Episode #100 print (#19) is at the framing shop, getting done up all pretty, before taking its place of honor and mirth in my barn studio. By the way, if you're all of our uncle, I guess that means we're all related. Peace. -G
This is interesting Uncle Larry... your faithful students all seem to be more upset about this turn of events than you are. Of course you have had time to adjust while we haven't, but it speaks loudly to the sincere admiration and concern we have for our beloved teacher. 🍎
Well said @vbros7 ! Not much time to adjust to the flooding though. That is devastating, add a flood on to the infamous 2020, and having just moved in which is an exhausting task in itself..... Oh yeah.... and a divorce... that’s some seriously tough shit to go through for anyone. Im in Iowa here, so I can personally relate to floods.....and we all had 2020... still having it....So awesome to hear you are still being positive. in my opinion that’s the correct mindset to have, thanks for reminding us of that uncle Larry👍
Sorry to hear about the flood. My husband and I live N of BNA and our basement flooded during Hurricane Harvey. We spent all night sweeping and vacuuming water. Whew! Luckily all our guitars were safe. Sorry you lost some of your stuff. Sorry too about your divorce. Its good you have the gift of music in your life. I always find great solace in playing music. Got the gift from my Mom and I am better for it. Play on Uncle Larry.
One of the bullshittiest things about getting divorced is having to tell everyone your getting divorced. You had to tell 52k n one hit. Love ya unc. I think you said it all in the first 9mins and 50.
Made me cry, really. I feel silly, but going back and giving this a listen on that guitar that you no longer have (I think) was what I needed on this sad sour Saturday.
Wow man. Super real talk from you. Besides your amazing playing and excellent lessons, the reason we all love you is your down to earth humbleness. You didn’t have to let us into your real life, but thank you for doing so. Thank you for being you, and we look forward to see what new comes out of this from you.
I’ve seen Chris Shiflett live. He was in my town playing with his little band and the singer fell off stage and broke his leg. What a klutz.. then the idiot decided to power through and finish the show on one leg. What a badass! What a hero. His name escapes me. I think he used to play the drums in some garage grunge trio.. What was the name of that band again..? Chin up teach 🍺 sometimes we all have to finish the show on one leg.
Fanfuckingtastic. Felt this. My first wife (2 of my kids mother) past away a year ago God rest her soul.. Got divorced in October to my second wife. Doing the best I can to keep the peace. Life is about change and keepin on. Don’t focus on fighting the old, but on building the new. Felt the emotion in your playing as always, Thanks for sharing, Tom. Rock on.
Saying prayers for you, your family and all the others hit by rain and floods. Sorry to hear everything. Of course everything you threw down is bad ass. God Bless.
Been going through divorce for the past 3.5 years, with no end in sight. I'm amazed (and in disbelief) when I hear the rare few stories of parents being proper adults and working things out. The best to you and your family. And thanks so much for all the music, some of your pieces really hit home.
Ive been on a big bukovac listening spree. He knows exactly what my ear wants next and plays something better. Maybe the most interesting guitar player thats still familiar
I still remember the 2010 floods in Nashville, as the wife and I were in the USA on a 7 weeks holiday from Australia. We arrived in Nashville on the 2nd week of May 2010, Oh Boy what a mess. Come on peeps, let's get behind our No 1 favourite guitar teacher on TH-cam Tom Bukovac and get a T-shirt or throw some $$$ in the Tip Jar. Keep on pickin Tom, all the best, Rob P.
I am sitting in my office crying for you and your family, Tom. While I do not personally know you, I know you and your family through these lessons the past year and beyond. You may not be crying any longer, but you are still hurting and grieving. Just know that many, many people love you and care about you and your family. One of my favorite songs was written by Sting and recorded by Toby Keith, “I’m So Happy, I Can’t Stop Crying.” It’s amazing the emotion transition in that song. I’ll be praying for y’all. Cheers, Paul
Wow is right Tom. Sorry to hear about you and Sarah, but i Know from experience aswell sometimes it just goes that way. Glad to hear that you are still on great terms as 2 special people who shared time and produced a beautiful family . In itself that is something amazing. Many blessings to you on the road ahead. As for your playing, my god you are truly something special. The way you switch from your fingers to the pick. Your groove and choice of cords just absolutely smoking. Truly heartfelt showmanship to the max. I was picturing you back at your moms bar on a tuesday Night just walling away to a smoke filled room...was amazing. You have a beautiful gift man. My hats off to you. Love the guitar sounds perfect for that kind of playing...
Hate to hear all this Buk.... I’m with ya, lost about 15 guitars and a ton of studio equipment and books in my Southeast Nashville apartment last night - flooded about 5 ft up into my bottom floor rooms and took out just about everything I owned. Thanks for keeping the positivity going for the both of us. See ya at 3&L!
I found this posted on social media “ what a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet” Having gone through a marriage breakdown and then surviving cancer , those great days kept coming, my ex wife alway maintained a great relationship and I guess this really helped my young daughter at the time get through the separation well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and amazing playing over the past 12 months, it’s very much appreciated and I wish you and your family all the very best and that indeed the best days of your lives haven’t happened yet.
As much as I love your guitar playing, your little nuggets of life and dad wisdom is what keeps me coming back. You've been a beacon of joy for all of us over the past year and I'm sure you're keenly aware of how much love and support you've got around the globe. You have to live to have something to write about and this is the stuff that music is made of.
Tom, my thoughts are with you. I divorced after a 25 year relationship/marriage in 2004. Took me about 6 years to heal. Take the time you need, and don't stuff it in a closet. Love ya', brother.
Tommy. I just want you to know I'm praying for you man. Divorce, regardless of how amicable the decision and process may be, sucks. I had no clue over the last 8 months you were dealing with this kind of pain. Serious props for your game face amigo. I have no problems with the scenery change or the tonal quality of the recording. Screw those haters who complain about "oh...it doesn't sound the same as in the garage". Pussy's. Love you brother. I'll do what I can to support you and the channel. God bless!
Man, I feel pretty bummed out by the news of your divorce, but life is all about endings and beginnings. Homeskoolin, will be the same, regardless of the setting, keep teaching us cool stuff! Greetings from Romania!
Said it twelveteen times, I’ll say it again - Gotta be my all time favorite guitarist. Music just pours out of you, man! A True master of the instrument. Appreciate the hell out of all the videos, Tom!
I won’t speak for our favorite cucumber herb contributor. What’s crazy is that you gave us all this, all this love, during those challenges. Game face, fuck man. Sidney Poitier. Couldn’t have handled it better really. Laundry is laundry and no one should care. We were all beam eyed on those hands and we appreciate you taking the time to do it even though it’s prob not your bag to hang on the screen and say “watch me”. I hope everyone here and forward stays sharp to the fact that work like yours on YT is hard. Far from free. Thank you Tom. You’ve got a tribe all around you obviously so stay true and do not deny yourself the good light in remorse.
You should make a homeschoolin shirt "basement editions" So all of us who were here from the start can wear them and feel superior;);) JK about the superior part. all The best to you and Sarah and the boys.
When missing your kid this is possibly the truest statement on how that feels ever made. Although Uncle Larry is a better player than we can hope to be he certainly embodies the feeling many of us probably feel of music healing and what a gift that is. Thanks man ot is much appreciated
I'll be watching the Homeskoolin show whatever the location may be. Tom, don't ever forget you have so many friends in this wide world that will support you through good times and bad. Much love

Absolutely. Wherever Tom plays becomes that more special, and we'll all be listening.

No qualms with the scenery change uncle. The only permanent thing in life, is impermanence. Just know, your class loves you man
Man, get it out brother.. I know what I'm seeing in this video.. That's what it's there for.. and also why we're all here for you. Lot's of love :)
Fact. He isn't playing guitar. He is undergoing therapy.
What makes his skills even bigger is that he says he's not really into blues. Just imagine if he was.
Doesn’t appear to be faking it to me

One of the bullshittiest things about getting divorced is having to tell everyone your getting divorced. You had to tell 52k n one hit. Love ya unc. I think you said it all in the first 9mins and 50.
Good attitude on the divorce thing Tom. I noticed right away that the aluminum ladder wasn't there.
Fuck!!! Now I really feel sorry for what I did then. Please forgive me man! Fuck!!! Be strong Tom !!!
I'm glad you're still here! I think we Bukovites were rather harsh with you back then! Sorry about that.✌️
@@grandudetonesnob7107 thank you ! Now I see that I’ve deserved it. This god damn life is so cruel sometimes. Poor guy! Again thank you!
Wow, Uncle Larry has made me realize it's OK to bang it hard, and slap it around now and then, thanks again for the inspiration. Cheers
Man, I'm so sorry about this. Prayers for you.
Made me cry, really. I feel silly, but going back and giving this a listen on that guitar that you no longer have (I think) was what I needed on this sad sour Saturday.
I'm even more impressed, the man can play a wicked guitar and keep his shit together under duress, been there, twice ! best wishes brother...
my face start to hurt, then i realise that i had spend the hole 17 min with a stank face listening to this jam.. damn! pure gold! thanks!
Wow man. Super real talk from you. Besides your amazing playing and excellent lessons, the reason we all love you is your down to earth humbleness. You didn’t have to let us into your real life, but thank you for doing so. Thank you for being you, and we look forward to see what new comes out of this from you.
Who else jams along with Tom`s videos. Great stuff
Chin up teach 🍺 sometimes we all have to finish the show on one leg.
ah foo...
God Bless.
always THE GUITAR MAN in the room. 🤟 👍
Been going through divorce for the past 3.5 years, with no end in sight. I'm amazed (and in disbelief) when I hear the rare few stories of parents being proper adults and working things out. The best to you and your family. And thanks so much for all the music, some of your pieces really hit home.
F*** the garage, F*** the guitars hang in there Tom, your an inspiration. Sending positive vibes your way and for the people of Nashville.
We're here for you Tom. Mind yourself and Uncle Larry's army are here for anything you need!
Ive been on a big bukovac listening spree. He knows exactly what my ear wants next and plays something better. Maybe the most interesting guitar player thats still familiar
We would all love a Homeschoollin' lesson on your fabulous left hand thumb work while voicing the chords and playing lines!
Cheers,
Paul
Holy shit man sry to hear that fuck
Really sorry this happened to you Luc. You are in my thoughts.
Thanks guys! All good. It’s just stuff, but it sure as hell sucks.
I found this posted on social media
“ what a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet”
Having gone through a marriage breakdown and then surviving cancer , those great days kept coming, my ex wife alway maintained a great relationship and I guess this really helped my young daughter at the time get through the separation well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and amazing playing over the past 12 months, it’s very much appreciated and I wish you and your family all the very best and that indeed the best days of your lives haven’t happened yet.
...very sorry to hear all this, Tom ...love that guitar, truly (it's trite I know)
As much as I love your guitar playing, your little nuggets of life and dad wisdom is what keeps me coming back.
Good testimony, I am in that boat with you as well years wise, it's never the same...........
Hello Romania and love to your country! I got my very first international royalty check from Romania!
Keep it up man, checking for your vids is a ritual now
I hate to hear about the unfortunate news. You'll be in my thoughts.. Ill try to send some love and positivity your way, brother!
From Missouri -Todd
Said it twelveteen times, I’ll say it again - Gotta be my all time favorite guitarist. Music just pours out of you, man! A
True master of the instrument. Appreciate the hell out of all the videos, Tom!
I don’t say this lightly.
Jimi Page has met his match.
Uncle Larry, little Tommy, you are a genuine guitar hero!!
Thanks for being so frickin cool.
Fuck me.... never playing you at poker!! Glad you're ok and, as always, thanks for the best guitar channel on the internet.
I'll be watching the Homeskoolin show whatever the location may be. Tom, don't ever forget you have so many friends in this wide world that will support you through good times and bad. Much love
