Your review is dead on in my book. I wish people would go a little easier on Gwar without Dave. Dave even said in an interview once that he envisioned Gwar continuing far in future without the original guys.

This was the album I was hoping to see from them post-Oderus; not groundbreaking, but comfortable enough in what Bishop knew to make it presentable. It felt new but at the same time like a classic album thanks to Bishop more or less reprising his vocals like a souped up Beefcake from way back. It also had Phantom Limb, which I knew right away would be sendoff to Brockie when I saw the tracklist, and it was great having that song and giving their cover of "People Who Died" a rest. I can't wait to see what they can do now that they've gotten a foothold. Brockie left a canyon-sized hole in the band but I think they're strong enough to keep going. It'd be sweet to see Devin Townsend throw his hat in their ring from time to time.
I came to ur channel about 6 months ago i remeber not watching any death metal videos u made due to my disliking of the music. Now i am finding death metal enjoyable to listen to and i am watching what i missed. I find watching ur videos to help me find bands to listen to. I also find that when watching ur videos i dont feel out of place like i do in public. I enjoy ur videos and also ur personality and look forward to getting home from school and watching ur videos when i get a notifaction about a new upload.

Scumdogs of the Universe is a great beginners album, so is America Must Be Destroyed. I also like Lust in Space and This Toilet Earth myself. They've never really had a bad album to be honest (We Kill Everything was weird, but listenable).
I first heard gwar in 1989 when they played maggots on the radio and I was floored. The scumdogs of the universe album was their big break out album and is just classic.... and my other favorite is actually battle Maximus. The guitars are more modern and more crushing sounding and the vocals and whole concept of the storyline is phenomenal! You can’t go wrong with those 2 albums- scumdogs of the universe and battle Maximus. In my opinion their 2 best
I’m not a GWAR follower in the sense that I could not name a single song from their entire catalog, however, the death of Oderus drew me to sample some GWAR, or more specifically, the unmasked show they did I think it was called WARG. I guess I dismissed Gwar as a gimmick, and of course that was the gag, but to hear the distilled music without the theatrics not only gave me a more approachable entry point, but more focus on music/lyrics. All in all I’ve dug in a bit deeper to kinda retrospectively look back at what I missed. I missed a great band. Hard skull vaporizing lyrics, ripping guitars and an unabashed tilt towards chaos. Truly an enjoyable look back. In terms of this album, Phantom Limb has stuck with me for days. The main riff is not that heavy, but the solo parts really dig into the heart of the song. Which to me was the sorrow and loss of oderus, but the inescapable fact that the crusade must continue. They have no choice. again. I’m probably missing a whole bunch of lore and nuance but Phantom Limb will be in my head for a awhile. Rock on.

I appreciate your opinion my friend but the new GWAR missed the mark for me. It didnt have the "kick you in the face" sound that every album before it had. This album was slower for me. After hearing it a few times it reminded of 1990's hard rock like Soundgarden or Tool. Not necessarily a bad thing but definitely not GWAR. Miss you Oderus and his personal butt buddy Dave. May you rest in peace. See you in Metal Metal Land someday my friend.
Just saw them on thursday for the first time and it was amazing although i did get hit directly in the eye with a stream of blood and thought i was blind.
You know, when I originally listened to GWAR, I didn't really like it too much. Then I saw the little animation thing where Oderus wants to be a kids singer all of a sudden and thought that was funny. Then, I watch this video and I'm like "Okay, I'll give them another chance" and listen to Bloody Pit of Horror and holy crap I love them. So, thanks for getting me into another band haha.
If i remember correctly, first album i tried listening to was Scumdogs of the Universe. They also came to Riot Fest twice but my dad and I missed them both times.
I like the songs, but fuck is the mix bad. The drums are thin and way too dry, the guitars aren’t equalized right, and the vocals sound super messy. Disappointing thing, as they would constantly have great mixing before a lot of other major punk bands.

The early albums are best in my opinion but all the GWAR albums are awesome in their own way. Listen to the years without light and deathpod

Saw Gwar and Ghoul live last night, it was some of the most fun I've ever had both were great. I crowd surfed 6 times haha.

It's funny. I got into GWAR after seeing them on Viva La Bam. Saw them in 2013 and they kicked ass. GWAR has become one of my favorite bands.
