I haven't come across this story in decades -- what a wonderful experience to relive! The artwork and story are even more engaging than I remembered...but the biggest surprise is the tone of the story. This, along with numerous other POWER Records stories didn't shy away from death at all, often gruesome, grisly, and violent. The death here occurs before the narrative, but it's so macabre I can't imagine a child's storybook getting published today with this so prominent that they make the manner of death into the title!
Yes, thank you! I finally know what they are saying! "If we rake through this mud and muck one foot at a time, it might as well be a continent."??? I never had a clue what that line was, and yes I've carried it with me all these years!
The only two voices I can identify are Mike McNally (Inspector Derek Holmes) and Elliott Lewis (Narrator). McNally and Lewis had done numerous voice work for Peter Pan/Power.
thanks, listened again. brings back old times, my brother and neighbors huddled around the oversized comic, listening on our little record player
Mom got me a REALISTIC record player from Radio Shack and this album for my (I THINK) 6th birthday in 1978
