  • Whether it is a GS450 A, E, L or T the oil filter change is the same from about 1980 through 1987... This is the easiest I can make it for you

    I totally enjoyed your Video on replacing an oil filter on a Suzuki GS450. I especially liked your opening line. I laughed and yes it's the most realistic video out there. Good job.

    I've watched many of your videos. Frankly, I really enjoy them despite having a lot of experience myself. You do a really good job of keeping it simple and straight forward. Keep 'em coming!

    Yes I have gear wrenches -- and a full socket set.... as well as more machine tools than you probably know the names of....
    Dont be calling me names unless you have the gonads to pop by the shop and do it in person - address is right on my channel page

    Fuck i put the oil filter in backwards. Im a damn idiot that just lost another $15.
    Thanks for the video, Rather spend $15 on oil and not buy a new bike.

    Awesome, thanks for putting this video up. Will definitely help me with the oil filter change for my gsf 250 bandit which has a similar oil filter cover.

    Great vid man, thanks for posting. Just got my first bike the other day, 1981 Suzuki GS450T, and since there's still quite a bit of snow on the ground I'm gunna do some minor tuneups.. Thanks again

    I have a few problems with this vid. First, it should show the oil being drained - that drain bolt on the bottom can be a PITA. Second, the bike takes an odd number (3) of quarts of oil, so mentioning that should be part of the instructions. Last, (and worst) using a parts washer is much less important than *wiping the visible crud from the inside of the filter cover* before reinstalling it. Somebody doing this job in a parking lot but using a clean rag to wipe the inside of the cover is doing a better job, even though it may look worse on the outside. It's how clean it is *inside* that matters.

    Don't think the cover went back on the same in this video. Don't know if it matters or not but I think I put mine on opposite also and I was about to start it up hopefully it's not a big deal

    What is your preferred oil choice in these GS450's?

    Hey do you have a video for the same bike family on how to change the battery? I have a 83 Suzuki gs450 a

      not really -- that generation ... it's either under the seat or the sidecover -- 1 bolt unclip or a rubber strap to unstrap --- remove ground ( - ) FIRST, remove positive SECOND ... when installing attach positive first and ground second - re-clip or strap ... (prevents that wrench making sparks if you goof and hit the frame if you do it in that order)

    Will you do a stator removal and replacement for this same family of bikes? Please?

    would you know of a filter relocation kit rthat replaces the kn 131 filter with something more common that can be found at AutoZone? no one in town ha the kn 131 or fram ch6000 filter for these bikes. I am afraid of going to the dealer not only because it will cost at least $30 but the will most likely sell me the wrong one yet again.

    how many liters of oil does this bike take? i just bought it and want to change the oil to be safe

    • @dawino6260
      @dawino6260  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      2.7 - or 3 quarts wont overfill it bad enough to worry about - pint less if you are not changing the filter

  • @journeyquest1
    @journeyquest1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Stupid design. Should have used a spin on filter.

    • @dawino6260
      @dawino6260  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only with a shield/cover -- I've bought a few bikes cheap because folks forgot to put an extra cover over their spin ons and their front wheel chunked a rock into em

    • @Big1_
      @Big1_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Seriously? This is far better than the typical outside-spin filter... A little stone can destroy it... But with this dessign is impossible because it works as a shield... Anyway... Bye!
