The construction of bale gardening is fantastic. I have a desire to build a green house on limited finances and looking at your construction is perfect for an inexpensive project. All needed is your design and some 4 mil plastic sheeting draped over your design and enclosing the open areas. Thanks for your design...

You might find a glass company that switches out shower doors and windows. They put the old ones in the dumpster but are still in good condition. I used to go to construction sites and asked the Construction Co. to let me get wood out of his dumpster. They have to pay less at the dumpsite. Worked for me.

I love this! My husband and I are planting a COVID19 Victory Garden in Moab Utah also using strawbales and cattel panels, but your video has shown me way more ideas to use them both. Thank you so much!

I started mine about a foot or so up the posts to make it taller. It gives my green beans plenty of room to run. I keep a ladder inside the arbor to reach all the beans. From a 20 ft. arbor, I canned 134 QTS. of beans.

Fantastic video and ideas, thanks for sharing! I just used a cattle panel folded over for tomato trellis and love it. I am definitely going to make an arch or two with them also, and love the multi-purpose of your bail squares with them. You have designed a great garden.

I've see others doing the hog panel (cow panel) thing and wasn't to impressed. But I love what you have done with them. The three together do indeed make it possible to have cold frame. Never thought to do that. Thanks a lot for you video. It looks outstanding.

I hope to have vegetables growing all year long. Anyway, you mentioned putting plastic sheets over the cattle panel to make it a greenhouse for the winter. Will you please make a video of that? Thank you in advance!

Cable Ties. The white cable ties break down over time from exposure to UV light from the Sun. Blue and black ties are much more resistant to this and will last longer in the outdoors. Cheers!

Many Thanks! I used to garden with a tractor and implements in a 200 by 75 ft garden. for seven years now I have grown only in the front corner of that space within a 55 by 35 ft area containing 86 hay bales. Like you I will not willingly go back to the traditional style of gardening. I now grow more over a longer time with far less effort and far more satisfaction. :-)

Looking for a suggestion/opinion. cattle panels look ideal since they are thicker gauge, but hard to transport for us suburban gardeners. Would a 48 inch welded wire roll work ok? I assume so for things like pole beans, cucumbers if you use 4 posts, but wondering about things like small melons or squash that are maybe 2 to 3 lbs in weight. most welded wire I see at places like Tractor supply are about 14 ga.

wow! these are so helpful and informative! i watched another talking about straw vs hay and the possibility of the bales turning into a chia pet. that actually sounds great, much more decorative than the hay bales. is this good to have or can i make it so they turn into chia pets? also, i have a narrow walkway with a strip of dirt (second summer coming up) on one side. i'd love to make these arches with one end in the ground where the plants will be and the other with the hay/straw bales to anchor the other side of the arch. what do you think? the sun comes up from left to right of the arch; we got good tomatoes and cucumbers but the cukes would have done better with more room to stretch.

Very cool! Not familiar with how strawbales are used as raised beds though...As the old bales rot down, do you just put new ones on top of the old ones, and prep for the next growing season? How often does that need done?
Do the rotting bales stink of mold?
    Thanks!

    • @christineboyce988

I use straw bales in my raised beds. They work just fine. You just fit them in the best way possible. There is no foul smell but you will get mushrooms growing initially after the conditioning. That goes away over time.

You do know that the option of not watching a video that isn’t to your liking is an option, right?
Instead of taking personal responsibility - ie: simply 🛑 watching a video that you don’t like & finding a video that suits your preferences - you’re one of those people that expects others to change, just because you said so.
May your life turn out to be as pleasant as you are.
