  • In Overlord, the 8 Greed Kings are likely the second strongest organisation, right after the Sourcer Kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown.
    As the Guild who conquered the known world and safed humankind from certain death, their influence is still felt even in the age of Ainz.

      SPOILER ALERT IVE READ VOL 14 STOP READING IF YOU CARE YOUVE BEEN WARNED IGHT IM DONE. If you look at a map ainz has dominated more than 70 percent of NW the kingdom is destroyed the empire is a vassal the northern holy kingdom is dominated. That leaves the slain// the dragon council state/ and the republic PDL rules all other little side nations that aren’t recognized by the major ones like lizardmen tribes and Demi human settlements have already bent the knee- Zesshi is the ace in the whole for the slain but if ainzs himself resolves the elf war plot line Zesshi could wind up in ainzs hands which he wouldn’t mind bcuz he is a collector and Zesshi wants a strong baby daddy so her loyalty is fairly easy to buy- I’ve said all that to say this: if we don’t stop to take a look BACK the series itself could be done within 3-4 more books and that’s assuming the remaining kingdoms wouldn’t be scared into submission after the destruction of the kingdom; bcuz keep in mind a lot of the plot we have gotten wouldn’t exist if some of these guys knew how strong ainz was before going against him now that the world has a cognitive grasp of how strong he is now that fact isn’t the same and it wouldn’t be a stretch to have the other kingdoms submit thus drastically accelerating the plot I think bcuz of this we will get more content in the form of the main story line taking a few books to discuss the 8 greed Kong’s in the form of a flash back the slain is the oldest standing nation rn as far as human records are concerned if and when ainz invades it he could happen across the records we could get several books dedicated to how things lead to what they were bcuz tbh we still don’t know how ainz has even arrived in NW but he already owns most of it

      It's possible. Sort of depends on how good friends they are. The 8 Kings may have just been a guild united by the game only, but nothing else that kept them together, without any kind of personal friendship there. The thing about AOG is all the members had to be working members of society, that way they could all chat and give advice on problems or just be a support base for eachother in a miserable real world. Though if the 8 Kings also had that connection and it still fell apart, well that's kind of sad.

      I don't think so. At least not to the extent the greed Kings did. Everyone is loyal to Ains second only their creator. Ains is the leader of the guild and has most of the most prized things locked up somewhere his created NPC protects. I'm sure it would be difficult but Ains would win just based on numbers alone. Not taking into account everything he has access to including the world items, gold, contacts etc.

    Wouldn't it be a interesting concept if 'Ainz' was the last player? Like, the last few that came, were destined to produce what they did and Ainz is destined to bring back order and unite the world? Hear me out,
    Six Great Gods - Brought Tier Magic and was the first beacon of hope for Humanity
    8 Greed Kings - Saved Humanity
    Heros - Slaughtered the 6 demon gods thus saving nations (i think there were 6 demon gods?)
    Great Sage Minotaur - Introduced various magic items
    Ainz - Unites the borders and brings peace.
    So far, Ainz is literally uniting Humans, Dwarves, Demihumans and Dragons so I'd say its pretty possible and was a 'beacon of hope' for the Holy Roble Kingdom.

    I suppose there's also a certain balance in that most of the players were human supremacists, though the 8GKs were a lot more aggressive about it, the 6 Gods probably wiped out hundreds of non-human species, while any non-human players seemed to just exist peacefully, like the Minotaur Sage. Hell, even 200 years before Nazarick something occurred to wipe out even more non-human races. I'd wager that had Nazarick not arrived, then given enough time, humanity would have slowly eliminated all of the other races, or enslaved them, and put the survivors in zoos, while the Dragon Lords all that stands in their way, but even they'd fall eventually. Thus it'd become a human world. But Nazarick flipped all that on its head and altered that future.

    You know, strange as this sounds, Ainz is incredibly lucky throughout the series. I'm not talking about how everything seems to magically work in his favor no matter what he does. I'm talking about the situation overall that he is in. Could you imagine if Ainz and the tomb as we know it wound up in the world of the greedkings?
    There is little chance it would of survived very long. This may sound wrong but when you really break it down, Ainz and the tomb as a whole are not at ALL set up for a world like this. The tomb is at it's best when it can focus on one target at a time and work to crush it. When it has time to prepare and is secure and can plan things out. This kind of approach would NOT work in the world of the greed kings.
    The world is far too chaotic. It's constant warfare and it's not by weak humans. No, the level cap for races is MUCH higher here. Going by the info i'd wager the average demihuman level is at least one of the combat maids or higher, and that's average. Demihumans are much more agressive and prideful than humans are, where as human nations would shake in fear and collapse at the showing of power Ainz does, demihumans would rage and go to attack the tomb. They aren't nearly as easy to scare or make back down from a fight. Espially in a world like this one where strength is everything.
    This means that the tomb would be fighting non stop and have no natural barriers or defenses like the greed kings did. Yes the NPC's are very powerful, but again, consider the world they are in, there would be beings of comparable strength to them running around but they wouldnt' quite....GET that for a while.
    Take albedo for example. If she were put into a truly fair fight against a being that could hold it's own and hit her back hard, she would lose her cool quite fast and almost certainly make reckless moves against them, considering it and almost certainyl saying out loud how unfair it is that she isn't crushing them.
    Shalteer would be similar but instead throwing a temper tantrum and attacking wildly trying to kill whatever foe it is. As how can a being not created by the supreme ones even compare to her? This would apply to many of the NPC's of the tomb. Not all, but most. In many ways Ainz considering them children is not inaccurate as many of them are quite immature when you break it down. Pretty much all of them were born into the world powerful and never knowing pain or fear. Being similar to spoiled noble rich kids who always get what they want and will get upset when they don't get it.
    This would be a huge problem as they simply don't get fair fights and dont' react well when they get them. Look at Entoma's fight with the adventures. She was fine until she was actually in danger and was getting hurt, then she lost her cool and rushed in to kill instead of retreating or trying to find a solution in the fight. This is a prefect example as this is what most of them would do in a situation like this where they are actually being challenged. Lose their cool and rush in to kill and brutalize their enemy instead of finding a solution and would get themselves killed. There are exceptions to this. Sebas is a good one as he would keep a cool head. But he is the exception rather than the rule.
    Put all this together and the tomb in this world would fall apart in a year or less with the constant fighting and Ainz being unable to find a solution to end this as the wars would just keep coming as the tomb is pretty much in a wide open area easy to attack. It's not 'crush one army and you'll have time to plan' it's 'Crush one army, 3 more stronger armies show up to take their territory and yours to prove they are stronger.' This would lead to the NPC's doubting him like he's afraid of and over time the wars of attrition would take their tole and eventually some NPC's would die and not be able to be brought back and the tomb would collapse in on itself from the endless fighting and the NPC's lack of experience and relative immaturity and unadaptablity.
    A slow decline. But a decline none the less. Ainz is incredibly lucky he's in a world that pretty much nobody is around that can fight back.

    • @emmanuel_40
      @emmanuel_40 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I don't agree, Nazarick's military strength is greater than the greed kings and Ainz' nature is to be paranoid and careful. Assuming Ainz found himself in the greed kings timeline he may not have even bothered showing himself to the world and rather stayed in the shadows until the situation improved.
      We see this in the What If book when he's by himself with Kino, he does not reveal his might to public knowledge and basically no one is aware that a dragon lord was slain by him single handed.

    • @naciabell7903
      @naciabell7903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@emmanuel_40 There are problems with what your saying. First. The odds of Nazarek not being discovered are nigh impossible due to it's location. It's stated to be in a wide open area. But this wide open area is SPECIFIED to be in the exact same area that the main crux of the fighting in the time of the greedkings took place. So him keeping it in the shadows is impossible. He wouldn't of been allowed to keep hidden even if he wanted to as he can't just move the tomb somewhere else. So he couldn't hide away.
      Second, the military strength of Nararek is not nearly as significant as your thinking. Remember, primarily the army of the tomb is low to mid teir undead. Death knights are pretty much the backbone of it as they are cheap to make and easy to use. But remember. The average level cap of this world is MUCH higher. So at the very least the average demi human is as strong as a death knight. So the warriors would be superior to them on average as they are constantly training and fighting strong demihumans. Thus death knights are canon fodder that would quickly become nigh useless as they would be easy to take care of in this world sense strength and magic are much higher and more common.
      In addition to this, their strength isn't as important or as imposing as it is in the world they are currently in. Remember. This was a world of endless warfare and fighting. Where extremely potent and powerful magic was thrown around left and right. So something like summoning the dark young or even super teir magic, is impressive, but not THAT impressive. Nor would it have the same results as it would in the new world. Instead that would just paint a huge target on Nazarek. Both from demihuman warlords trying to prove they are stronger than the last one's that were slaughtered, and from the many powerful dragon lords and other beings who would take notice of this quickly.
      Plus as i sated before, the NPC's would be a source of problems as well. The combat maids would be nearly useless in this world as they wouldn't be much stronger than the demihumans running around fighting in it and weaker than the strong beings of it. Thus making their usefulness minimal. But even that's not addressing the problem i stated before. The core weakness the tomb possesses is that despite how intelligent many of the NPC's are, they are also shown to be too sadistic and arrogant for their own good. Simply put, pretty much every single one of them with evil karma has the same problem. If they were actually put in a proper fight against someone who could fight back and hit as hard as them, they'd be more dangerous to themselves than the enemy.
      Entoma's reaction in her fight to Evil eye being able to actually hurt her is heavily implied or stated to be the same any one of them would have by supplemental information.In other words, if they were actually challenged and threatened by an opponent, they'd lose their cool and rush in to try to brutalize them, instead of keeping calm or trying to escape. It's worth noting none of the NPC's in the tomb have 'experience'. This in a world where they are actually under real threat constantly would lead to them getting themselves killed.
      The other problem is, they don't take outside threats seriously unless they attack the tomb. But even then their minds are on 'How dare they defile the home of the supreme ones' and less on 'Are they an actual threat to us and do we need to be careful when dealing with them.' Ainz has constantly had to remind the NPC's to be careful and not underestimate situations. This translates to them not thinking that beings not created by the guild are equal to or stronger than them. Pretty much all non good karma NPC's have this mindset. That they are far superior to any creature not of the guilds' origin. And thus would not respect their strength and take them seriously as a threat in the way Ainz would.
      The tomb itself is actually incredibly poorly set up for a world like the greedkings as it's own worst enemy is it'self and the mindset of the NPC's. It's military might isnt' as useful as the world it'self is strong enouph to handle or counter it and strike back even harder or just as hard. Lastly, again. AInz would not have time to plan or even be careful in this world. There is no way to properly hide the tomb in this world as it's place is in hte middle of the big warzone and the beings are too high leveled to not take notice of any attempts to hide it with magic or the like. This means even if he goes and slaughters everything around the tomb, more will s how up to take their place. And kill them and more show up. And then really strong ones show up to prove their strength, kill them and VERY powerful ones show up in numbers that you can't easily deal with, withotu planning ahead like the greedkings were allowed to. As they had the advantage of a floating city guild base that couldn't be attacked without flying up to it. The tomb is a tomb. It lacks this advantage.
      Thus it would be constant, endless fighting, with no time for plans, caution or preparation. And the creator has made sure we know that this is a fact. The tomb wouldnt' be able to establish a proper foothold in this situation due to all these factors. And even if it could, what then? It couldn't scare away attackers as Demihumasn are far mroe agresive and prideful than humans and wouldn't run away just cause someone stronger is around and near what they see as theirs.
      Almost every advantage and strength we know the tomb has, is not nearly as useful as they are in the new world. Simply beacuse this world can actually fight back. And the tomb itself, is not accustomed or made to fight someone who can actually fight back. One large scale attack by max level geared up players? Yes it's made for that.....But a world of endless fghting htat's a war of attrition? That it is not made for.

      @@nadeshikotwentyfive2740 It's not. at all. Your fine. And you misunderstand a bit. I'm not saying that they couldn't repel invaders. What I was saying was that, The tomb at it's core is set up to deal with large, powerful invasions all at once. Not battles of attrition that happen day after day after day. Recall what I was saying for a moment. It's not that the tomb would get one huge invasion, then time to prepare for the next one. It would be lots and lots of them. And each time they wipe out one, another would be on it's way soon after, as demi humans are not as easily intimidated as humans are. Being far more aggressive and prideful, just to prove their strength they would attack after their rivals are killed. And it would just keep looping like that. Large specticals of killing tens of thousands at once, wouldn't have the same effect it does in the main world we know. It would just bring more attention and more powerful fighters.
      This is a world where stuff like the dark young event, aren't uncommon and the other side can hit back just as hard. So the fighting? It just wouldn't stop and the tomb has no natural defenses. It's in a wide open feild and it's where all the fighting back then took place. Thus it would be noticed almost immediately.
      I can sum it up like this. If you ever play a rpg or even a strategy game, total war, dark souls, devil may cry, what have you. Your powerful and able to handle what your enemies throw at you. It's not one specific enemy or one group or one boss that can get you more often than not. It's the attrition you can take from sheer numbers. Your HP just gets whittled down over time, from all the fighting and you make more mistakes as you keep having to fight and fight. If you don't have the time to rest and heal and plan, your gonna get taken down eventually. Same for a total war army. No matter how powerful and elite those units are vs your enemy, EVENTUALLY all the battles will take their toll if you can't replenish those soldiers.
      It's not like i'm saying one big demi human army or warlord or dragon lord would bring it down. Hell i'm not even saying someone could succesfuly invade and conquer it in any reasonable manner.
      What i'm saying is, it would be the constant fighting that would cause the tomb to start to collapse as everyone starts to doubt Ainz ability to protect it as time goes on. ANd it would make him more paranoid of them, which would lead to him making mistakes, which would lead to more doubts and more paranoia and it would loop. And given that the average demi human warrior was implied to at LEAST be as strong as one of the combat maids, eventually some of them would get killed fighting. And Ainz would have no solution to this issue.
      He can't pick one target and crush it to give him time to plan. Beacuse this world is far too chaotic and violent for that to work. Crush one army. Crush 3 or 10. And double that would show up. It took the greed kings quite some time to win their war after all. And that is time Ainz would not have.

    • @SarevokRegor
      @SarevokRegor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@naciabell7903 Not really. Remedios implied that she would be able to take down ~10'000 Demihumans in book 13 (although she also implied Gustav would have said "Are you fucking serious ?" to her plan), Ainz took down 10's of thousands by himself. Shalltear and Aura took down ~70'000 Kugoa. It seems like you need to be similar in level in order to take down level 100 enemies. The only realistic threat would seem to be the 8 greed kings, and their NPC's, and the dragons. However the amount of levels you are able to grant NPC's is capped by your clans base size. However any base grants 700 levels. Meaning that the eight greed kings would have the capability to have 7 max level NPC's and themselves for 15 max level enemies. Nazarick has 13 max level NPC's, and Ainz, for 14. This would render the fight even.
      Secondly attrition doesn't apply. Ainz has horded a lot of items, and mana replenishes daily, and can heal the NPC's and player, and none of the NPC's get tired or hungry.
      The only other unknown is how strong the dragons were, however the 8 greed kings wiped out the dragons, not the other way around.(although apparently they did die and were revived)

    Odd Theory, but hear me out:
    What if in the final volume we witness a war between Ainz and the 8 Greed Kings? Think about it a bit-
    Nazarick, and Ainz Ooal Gown entire, was the 4th strongest guild in Yggdrasil, alongside this they had an impenetrable and undefeated fortress of a Tomb for a guild base. Fluder Paradyne managed to extend his human life for over 200 years.
    PDL may currently be living in a portion of the 8 Greed King's castle- but considering Nazarick, it is likely that a portion of the Guild Base is unexplored even today, and so, with the information that the desert was supposed to be created by the war between these beings- what if they never fought in the first place? What if they caused mass destruction, to warn others of the dangers of too much power, what if they allowed their ever technologically advancing kingdoms and empires fall so that they would not have a repeat of their own world- wherein Earth was reduced to a polluted, gray mess.
    They could have faked their deaths, retreated into the most defensible portion of their base, and extended their lifespans with the intention that one day, should the need arise, they may once again come out to the light and prevent the world from falling into yet another spiral leading to the eventual demise of the entire planet.
    And so, these 8 players, are now weaker but still ready to fight the now continent spanning and expanding empire of Ainz Ooal Gown, and serve as the final bastion of defense of their image of what the world could be. The sole question remains, what would big poppa bone daddy think? Would he reason with them? Or would he simply fight them? What about the denizens of the great tomb?
    I leave that, to random speculation.

      It'd be rather interesting to see what happens. I think the biggest source of conflict would be internal as they need to determine how they will operate in the new world. Will Ainz be the sole leader, would they form a direct democracy and vote on everything, or would the divide between characters/builds cause a civil war that leads to a portion of the guild leaving? Once they figure that out they would be unstoppable.

      Far, FAR more. Anime ends at around Vol 8 - 9. LN ends (right now) at Vol 13. That's at the very minimum 1000 pages to read.
      I recommend to read from the beginning because the LN is FAR better than the anime. You miss so much detail and dope moments. You also receive many explanations for certain events the anime outright skips or just doesn't elaborate on.
      (E.g. How Ainz won against Foresight, Anime only shown Rober & Elf charging before ending, why Ainz wore a giant collar, why was Mare with Ainz during SPLAT, etc...)
