Hi Peter, Just a quick note to say thank you for sharing this video. The fibaro dimmers are not simple and your guide helped me so much. Cheers.

Hi team, thanks for taking time to answer my question., recently I buy a fibaro FGS-223 to test the compatibility with my house electric wire. I am trying to figure out how to connect to the lamp switch.
The issue is that I don’t know with cable go to where..
Like I can see… the marked cables comes from the lights because there this is the end of the circuit, but im not sure.
Thanks a lot! And best regards

If you use a 3 position retractive switch, you can dim up and down at the wall switch. Scolmore Minigrid switches.

Thank you so much for this guide! It is possible to use a "normal" switch (one with on/off)?

Great video!.. very informative and east to follow. Do you know if the dimmer would work with a normal dimming switch? So could use it normally to dim / brighten lights but also dim / brighten them remotely?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Fantastic video - I think most people could follow that and keep themselves safe.

3 years later, if someone else is looking for the reply. It does not, do not use "dumb" dimmer with it. Needs to be a switch.

Great video, please post more of such videos. Also, do you know if such installation is compliant with BRegs Part P?

Great video Peter! You have really helped me in setting up my SmartHome. How do you dim and brighten the lights using just the one retractable switch?

    Hi Peter,
Great explanation! Can this Fibaro dimmer dim GU10 230V Megaman dimmable LED bulbs?
    Thanks.

Thank you for this comprehensive guide. Guessing that your raspberry pi is the controller. Did you follow a how to for your setup of the pi if that's the case?

Thank you I had never heard of this before. Is it stable and reliable? I had openHab and other HA controllers setup and they would occasionally have to be reset. Any issues you came across as a UK user?

Hi Peter, thanks for the video. My house has the neutral wires, and so I was wondering can I ignore them as you did in the video or should I connect the neutral to terminal N ?

Peter Kinder thanks. I take it I don't need the loop wire, instead connect the neutral?

right, bit the bullet and i must say a massive kudos to you for this video, so simple. I have one question though, would the fibaro dimmer work within a a traditional dumb dimmer switch, the roll/knob variety?

    • @YorkshireAutomation

no they wont, just use standard toggle or momentary switches

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for the video, will be a great help when my dimmers arrive.
Can i ask how alexa is setup to talk to the controller, is it via IFTTT, or does it masquerade as some other hub?

Are you able to turn the dimming function off from domoticz, as my bulbs are not dimmable. Don't want to blow them up, so before the initial dimming of the bulb is it possible to stop that from happening.

Do you need a bell-press type switch for these?

Hi their if you linked the sx to the neutral is it possible to do the same with a shelly 1 if there is no neutral wire behind the switch.

I bought the fgs-223 (non dimming) wondering if there is a similar technique to get this working for that?

I was wondering if you have had a look at the single switch from fibaro for home kit, I have the problem of no neutral and was wondering what the cable arrangement would be for this device if its possible not to use neutral? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Peter!
How do I connect the dimmer if i have 2 switches in the circuit? Like you would in a corridor, or at the top and bottom of a staircase?

  • @owiu-n3t

Question is... Will it work with led lights?

  • @davidfarrell1062

Is there a non dimmer version. I have lots of non dimmable gu10 (that I dont need to dim anyway) but Id like to have a local switch and zwave control. Of can this fibaro be used as a non dimmer.

so very close to what I was looking for, until all the rasberry pi stuff, i dont own one and have not one clue how they work. I have an amazon echo and the desire to make a uk light switch work with it, without cost £100's. back to the drawing board I guess.

    • @leewalters2002
      @leewalters2002 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it, but £90 plus the cost of a switch just to get one light controlled by alexa is too pricey, I cant believe how crappy the smart home tech market is in the uk, it's like we're 10 years behind america. I think I'll wait a while for the tech to unify itself.

    Hi can anyone help me.
can I wire my light switch wire to keep power on all the time but remove the switch. I'm hoping to get the Philips hue lights and want to get rid of the switch because I wouldn't need to switch it off by the switch
