iv been watching all of your videos and my training partners have commented on how much better my footwork and movement is after just a few weeks. Thanks Fran!
If you can't do a simple 1,2 in sparring, then you can forget about doing any other combinations. Getting that right means you understand how distance and timing works. As a shorter fighter, I've found what works for me is a solid guard and getting in underneath my taller opponent. Body shots are your friend if you're short. Think of it as if you're cutting down a tree (a tree that moves and wants to punch you in the face).
yes move under the tree's branches and chop the stump even if your aiming for the face angle off get underneath and throw upwards at said angle land duck out repeat
Is everyone here saved? Our relationship with God is the only thing that matters. God is real and God is love. God wants us to love Him above everyone and everything in exsistence. God also wants us to keep His commandments, love our neighbors as ourselves, and do our best not to sin. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. This is why God sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so that all those who believe in God, do their best not to sin, and to live a life that is pleasing to God will not perish but have everlasting life. Fran, I really enjoyed watching your two-minute drill at the end! You have nothing to apologize for! You moved well and hit very hard. You look more intimidating without the glasses! You definitely are an authority on boxing! Your advice has helped me, and I look forward to possibly getting anywhere near half of your talent!
Hello coach. I'm 36 years old and started to box about 2 years ago. Your videos are a huge part of the reason why i got into it. I absorbed all your basic lessons which is hands down, the best available in TH-cam. Since then, I've lost 20 kilos in weight and in the best shape of my life. Keep doing what you're doing coach and since we'll probably never meet, thanks for the videos, they are tremendous. From Malaysia.
Fran u would of been a perfect coach for me when I was fighting professional it took me a long time to learn to understand for a long g time I was a browller .i wish I would have known what I know now ,but I defiantly learn a lot from ur videos probably one of the best or the best teacher I seen.
Fran thanks a lot for making all these videos. Really helpful. There's so many personal trainers out there pretending to be experts giving "boxing advice"...it's great to have a source you can trust from a real boxer and expert coach...not to mention the generous amount of content you've provided for free. In a world full of phonies (the internet) I for one appreciate the true expertise people like you offer. Great production, great information, and a funny guy.
JD Frank when I come across a newbie they seem to always have that problem, ... my main problem was letting go of my guard, sometimes I'm a bit careless, but a couple of good strikes to the head quickly changes that lol ...
Awesome stuff Fran, I wish more people can see your vid or get your training programs/books. I used to boxxed as a hobby like 18 years ago, (I was 14 at that time), then I stopped after 3 years after my teacher moved. I just started again a couple months ago, and watching all of those TH-camr really make my questioning my intuition or my memory of the teaching I got. Just yesterday I found your vids and everything make sense again, screw those bullshits 500,000 views guys. One of the most crazy thing to me, is that to my memory, the punch always start from the legs, transfer to the hips, and then to the body and lastly the Arm extend out to make that shot. Even after 15 years without any training and gain 40 lbs, my legs are still in great shape and I always contribute that to the boxing I did. Then I watch those youtube vid that empasis on the hips, let the hip innicite the movement then the arm. I watch them, and follow them and always feel my shots is slow, weak and feel weird, not natural, after awhile I just ignore those advise and train base on my memory (I train at home with a heavy bags just to shred some lbs, my goal is shred all of these 40 lbs and be in shape again). After seeing your vids and your shot, it feel just right, it natural to me, thanks you sir, you rocks.
Thank you. You have it absolutely, your memory has not let you down. Initiate at the feet - more power, more efficient. Thanks Bob, appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Great advice; 99% of my boxing is long range. My robot taught me that coming in close may look good on the heavy bag, but when that thing is punching back at all angles, it is much better fighting long range. Thanks!
Your a heck of a coach. The gym I attend don't really work with my young son so I'm doing all the training with him. Your videos are excellent coach material for me. Thanks, keep the videos coming.
it´s unbelieveble that we have coaches like you and a bunch of ther who are making those kind of videos, i kinda learned how to master alot of things just by seeing videos on youtube and go outside and practice the drills etc everyday :) appreciate it :)
Amazing coaching skills. I've watched all your videos while studying boxing visually. Watched them again before training and improved not only my training but my skill level. No pro at 48 but hanging in there with much younger aspiring fighters. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge with us all.
Your videos are invaluable to me, as I am taking my time and trying to develop good technique. I am a bit heavy on my feet at the moment and I have had to change to southpaw due to hip issues, but things are improving. Great video 👍🏿
Never thought of the different variations of 1-2. So simple and logical! Thanks for the tip! Will definitely try it out with the bag and at sparring as well! Thanks again!
Fran, love your straight talk. You have me chuckling. Thanks for the great info about all the angles to throw on the old 1-2. You look great on the bag, very fluid. Keep up the great videos!
I've been coached; well, mainly in grappling, and this Fran Sands is no nonsense. My one and only boxing coach was no comparison to this tactician. In short sir, thanks for going over fundamentals as well as advanced skills.
Hi Fran, I really love your videos! In my opinion the best boxing instructions on youtube! One question about the 1,2: I've heard an other coach saying that you never should end a combination with the back hand (because you will be out of position for a split second, I guess). His advice was to always end the combination with a jab, left hook or to roll to the right after the back hand shot. I just wonder what your views on that are? cheers
Yes, makes sense Max. Would not say always, but certainly as you throw the back hand you store up torque to led lead hand shots go, so why not let it go. Variations are always good, so throwing 2 and taking none is better than throwing 3 and maybe taking 2, especially if the opponent lands the final shot.
How are you going to stop a body shot with your arm so wide apart and your to square if your fighting long range. Your right cross will have less power if your square. I'm a coach your videos are great look back at the video and see your mistakes.
just found yr vids...am thinking of doing uwc...and have found yr vids very informative... especially footwork...I am right handed...but have had my left knee reconstructed so I am weary of leading of my left leg...I've had to change from orthodox to southpaw and find it difficult to move like I did...also I now have my power punch as my lead punch in...how can I get more power into my now back hand... thanks
This is an awesome and super helpful video you got here sir, I'm doing quite well by following your tutorial! Btw, what sup with those orange and blue lines on the floor? Are they for footwork pattern??
iv been watching all of your videos and my training partners have commented on how much better my footwork and movement is after just a few weeks. Thanks Fran!
Excellent, thanks for the feedback Ryan, really glad that it's helping

Thanks that's a funny way to put it and I'll help me remember

Example Mike Tyson
Body hook
Head hook
Bring a chainsaw to the match just in case?
great 1,2....going through your videos is like discovering a whole wealth of knowledge...
You're an artist mate . Your like poetry in motion .
How do i box? "You need to box well!"
hahaha peach of a sentence.

I like how the left uppercut sets up and conceals the overhand right, pretty slick...
Exactly what I thought.

Wow, thanks very much Jason, that's really kind of you to say. Made my night :-)
Never thought of long range angles. Great instructions. Thank you!
I'm so glad I watched this. I'll apply this to my sparring and when I get better, I'll start putting in combinations together.
Cool, give that a go. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Watch how he hits the bag, always moving and relocating his feet after throwing the one two. Newbies always throw the combo and then just stand there
Thanks JD. Being somewhere else after you land your shots is always good advice, nice that you have spotted that.
JD Frank when I come across a newbie they seem to always have that problem, ... my main problem was letting go of my guard, sometimes I'm a bit careless, but a couple of good strikes to the head quickly changes that lol ...

Great video I think it focuses on many of the things us boxers tend to forget .
Hello, Fellow Heathen!

Why do you slightly turn your lead foot slightly when you jab?
How are you going to stop a body shot with your arm so wide apart and your to square if your fighting long range. Your right cross will have less power if your square. I'm a coach your videos are great look back at the video and see your mistakes.
Coach. Should we do more shadow boxing or time on the heavy bag for improvement?
This guy is excellent
All the combo started with the lead hand?
Always great information ✊!!
Thanks for watching 👍

Conor McGregor loves the long range uppercut... Great vid as always coach Fran.
Thanks
Less is more, thank´s for sharing !
very good video
+Bryan Westmoreland Cheers, glad it helps
isn't the back hand uppercut after the jab for the more advanced boxer?
Moving in to mid or short range definitely would be. At long range though it's much lower risk.
Fitness looks fine coach! Not Sugar Ray in his prime but damn good nonetheless.
I got so excited to watch your video that i hit my toe on a table.
This is what i like from british people, they always give u their best. They either they will do something or not at all
awesome. is switching stance often a good thing?
If you are comfortable and effective then yes, it makes you awkward to deal with.
Fran : Hope I got you thinking...
Me: Believe me Fran you got me thinking! Thanks from USA.
Should you add head movement to every combination?
I think it helps William yes. Landing and making them miss.
just started boxing at 28 years old. I like your videos, suscribed now. thx.

Love this vid !
