Fantastic. Tancred's stigma located on the Manse battlements where he addresses his congregation is edifying in regards to the Sentinels state of deep paranoia that you mentioned.
I like this. Sometimes corruption happens so slowly that you don't see it happening. It transformed Iselle from a genuine Hero into something she initially fought against. And turned an organization of stalwart defenders into a conclave of cruel thugs. The decay of time.
The Hallowed Sentinels were this world's version of the Templars. A group of warrior monks who then became corrupt in their mission of protecting pilgrims to the holy land.
Yes I think this game is inspired by Crusader wars but the difference is that Hallowed sentinels were corrupted by demonic rune and many crusaders fought only to steal, they didn't care for freeing Jerusalim.
Eh I see your comparison but also the Knights Templar was a specific holy order who didn't really get corrupted. They fought in the crusades found what's believed to be Solomons Treasure and set out to protect it from then on. Creating a banking system that led to the French king being in debt with them and the Pope wishing he had their wealth
Thanks for the new lotf lore video! Also, interesting fact - some sentinels keep the watch over beacons despite the corruption. In infernal ending, once received empowered rune of Adyr and sent back to beacons, multiple squads of sentinels appear near each of the, trying to prevent Lambearer from freeing Adyr. Happy new year!
Just bought this game a week ago but I absolutely love it and absolutely love the lore videos hope you don't run out of it I'm gonna watch them as much as possible lol I should beat the game first but freak it hahaha
Appreciate it and a Happy New Year to you! Been planning the year out and I'm very excited to share with you all the many stories and projects I have in mind
The only existing lore it has is that the stigma dude in its boss room was a poser who pretended to be an avatar of Orius and tricked a bunch of worshippers into getting fed to what seems to have been his afflicted son, which also eventually consumed him too. No idea why Saint Latimer's spear can be made from its remembrance, though, since the Congregator and Latimer are completely unrelated.
Happy new year, Lorebrarians, and great video as always! I wish you all a great TH-cam year. I'm guessing the demon God is next on the list? Edit: It seems the Orian faith has issues with the faith of remote udirangr, since not only do the hallowed sentinels persecute those who follow it, but the church of Orius itself launched crusades against the people of Udirangr. "Long ago, the Church of Orian Radiance officially condemned the people of Udirangr and their gods and tasked the Dark Crusaders with launching a crusade into the vast, harsh land in order to bring it into Orius' light and under church control." This might be the reason the people of Udirangr fled to Kinrangr.
@@TheLorebrarians It's the Ruq rune item description btw, and I think it pretty much confirms that Orius and his church will be launching crusades to bring the world under his heel. Thank you for all the hard work and content. I enjoyed this video quite a lot and can't wait for more.
@@TheLorebrarians I think the church of Orius might have been working with Antanas too, based on this item description. Love your videos! Glad to see someone is explaining LOTF lore, as wikis are very empty... such a shame game didnt take off. The designs and art style are just amazing.
Hi, watched some of your lotf vids - cool stuff. Who was that creature on the throne from the trailer that sends out the dark crusaders in the Mornstead? cant find info. he looks like a big guy - which is ok - the same Tancred is huge. His hands bother me - the hand looks like Harkin's bony hand. Is this the influence of the Adyr rune? Perhaps everything here was done simply for impressiveness, but in the trailers there are other important pieces - such as the damage to the beacons, the attack of the rogars, so the trailer pieces are very lore. Who is this guy on the throne? Does he have contact with Osiris? Or he is a maniacal tyrant who uses religion as a political tool.
The first luminary Cassilium, head of the church of Orius. The church claims those who occupy the position of first luminary are selected by Orius, a falsehood.
Great video it really cleared a lot of what I thought happened to the hallowed sentinels.but on a side note can somebody help me I can't log on to my main character every time I try it immediately freezes I can start a new character and play on that but I had over a week over a hundred hours onto my main I can't let him go😢
Well this game is maybe inspired by WH40K, Space Marines especially Black Templars are obsessed with Emperor just the same way the Hallowed sentinels are obsessed with Orious, but Space Marine have honor unlike many sentinels, also Adyr is like Chaos God
Adyr isn't inherently evil. He was the shepherd of humans at one time. But he was betrayed by the very humans he loved. Hence his title "Adyr, The bereft" Bereft meaning lacking something, and *Sad and lonely* and Orius isn't a real god (probably) but humanity's faith in themselves. Hence why the "holy" spells still work when used by heretics. When you defeat Ardyr, his last words are (paraphrased, but the message is still clear) "I forgive you, my wayward child, for you have been brainwashed and led astray" There is no reason for him to say this when he is already defeated and done for. He means it. Qnd the Rhogar were a last resort to stand against the wicked, when they are no longer needed, they will be discarded, and thus their bloodshed, their mission complete. Adyr IS the god of humanity, our creator, our shepherd and guiding light. Firm but just. His mission now is to cleanse the fanatics. Just like "Orius" does in the radiance ending. Yet corruption will never go away, not truly. *Adyrs slaughtering of mankind is actually rightous, and serves a purpose. The ritual serves a greater good as well, and his disciples WANTS him free, they have always existed, as has Adyr. Freeing Adyr is the "good ending* And his speech makes a lot of sense They brand me evil, a tyrant, and yet I offer you something they will not: a choice. Reject the fanatical crusaders and the deranged servants of the self-proclaimed judge, dismiss all their fall dogma and the torturous mission to which they have bound you, and only then will you know freedom. And, if you would hear it, the truth... *Why do you refuse to open your eyes to their manipulations, to millennia of shameful distortions of the truth? For eons I stood as mankind's guardian, shepherding them with wisdom and love, yet in return, I was betrayed. Those three power-hungry malefactors who declared themselves judges turned my own children against me and waged a terrible war of needless slaughter*
*The Judges and their crazed followers butchered those who remained loyal to me, and when I created Rhogar as a means to put an end to the madness, they too were no match for the heathen forces. In the end, even I fell.* All though the Judges found themselves unable to kill a god.. despite their best efforts. In a world left blackened and corpsed-choked by their crusade, the Judges banished me to this barren realm, which has served as my prison ever since. Meanwhile, mankind set about ruling themselves, free from eh divine oppression of which they accused me, and yet how little time passed before the Judges themselves were raised to the status of demi-gods, figures of worship, their real ambition, all too clear, yet an outcome the people deluded themselves into believing a triumph. How much blood has been spilled in their names since my banishment? Far more than was ever spilled in my name. And now, after all the time mankind have had to shape their own destiny, see what they have made of it: war, greed, hatred, suffering, chaos... They believed they were capable of guiding themselves, but have been proven sorely mistaken. Mankind needs me, now more than ever. And what of other beings who claim godhood, where are they? What of Orius and the abhorrent Umbral creature? They are cowards, hiding in false light and obfuscating shadow, deeming you unworthy of their presence, their communion -- and yet here I stand before you with true words and open arms, for I love all of my children, even the wayward ones"
There is no good ending in game, Adyr is not good too because as typical devil he uses sweet lies for manipulation, well at least he kept his word and made Dark Crusader into his subordinate.
@PaulAtreidees But he isn't inherently evil. He is what mankind requires at the time. Just like the Church of Orious is not inherently good. It's a matter of perspective. Adyr is at war because everybody else is corrupt. And he is the father of mankind. He is liberating his people, and death count be dawned. Edit i agree there is no good ending AFA we know. We'll have to wait for the 2026 sequel to determine 🙂
@@NuevoExistence Well one of the reason why people is corrupted is because of his rune. I never said that Orius is good too, only way to become hallowed sentinels is to be ruthless fanatic, similar to Black Templars from WH40K, but unlike Hallowed Sentinels, Black Templars have honor, so that's why i'm saying there is no good ending in Lord's of the Fallen
@PaulAtreidees That's because the rune was supposed to be destroyed. It was a rune forged in war. I personally believe Adyrs speech for the most part. But yes, no true happy ending. Agreed. "How much much blood has been spilled in their (the judges) names since my banishment? Far more than was ever spilled in my name. And now, after all the time mankind have had to shape their own destiny, see what they have made of it: war, greed, hatred, suffering, chaos... Idk if this is related but i gotta say this because it’s on my mind why the fuck do like most of the femal followers of orius go barefoot like pieta, all the abiding defenders and judge cleric are covered head to toe in armor well not really because despite being in full plate there feet are just out like idk if there is a reason is this an esthetic choose or a lore reason because if it is esthetic it’s a bad one plus It’s kinda sus that only who women have this trope I’m starting to think that someone’s got a fetish
Many people who believe in pain as a way of repentance do not wear shoes as it shows their constant suffering. To walk with no shoes is to walk on rock and glass. They walk a path of suffering and having no shoes is a way of symbolism. Why the women do it and not the men I couldn’t tell you other than seeing how most of the men in the game do more grotesque self harm to themselves while the only women who do it at an equal level are the scourged sisters.
