im gonna predict it, the wolves will win 4-1, suns only winning the one game where all 3 stars magically gets hot at the same time, and hit a billion bad midrange iso shots.

Timberwolves we’re more consistent because they were healthier and had more chemistry for being together longer. Suns have a brand new team new coach and they had many injuries yet they still won 49 games. They didn’t underachieve. They were 1 win away from 50 win season. I have Suns in 6

As a Wolves fan this is the match up I didn't want. Wolves have a chance if Naz Reid and Mike Conley get hot and ANT can put up 30+ per game. If the Wolves can take the series it would be a huge confidence builder going on in the playoffs.

it baffles me how people are likening the suns over the wolves coz if the wolves are the best defense in the league wouldn't they figure out how to guard them better especially in a 7 game series also because they basically have some of the best possible set of individual defenders in the league on their squad
no one on the wolves is a weak defender when matched up against the opposing team's player in their position and it's the opposite for the suns, no one on the suns can guard ant or kat without breaking the whole team's defense down

I feel like phoenix is going to take it because Minnesota needs to figure out their offense. Only on ball creators they have are ant and kinda kat. I can place stock in ant as we have seen. But kat? When you only have one person who can run an offense that’s going to spell disaster when he’s not shooting well. They have a great defense. But when you have a team like phoenix that has 3 on ball creators. And people who can really knock down threes. It’s wraps. I think Minnesota got extremely unlucky playing the suns. They are the counter.

As a Suns fan, I hadn’t tracked the numbers like you did in this video, but I did notice the Suns just had insane shot making in those 3 games and didn’t expect that to hold up. I consume a ton of hoops content and am very impressed with your content.
You are absolutely correct that the Suns are a jump shooting team. They live and die by it, but so do the Celtics. You did not factor in that the Suns have two of the best shot makers in the league, and arguably the greatest one of all time. In 2023, Booker averaged 34 PPG on 69% TS. That is the most efficient scoring binge of 30+ PPG in NBA playoff history over a 10+ game span.
In Game 1, Booker, Allen, & Gordon shot a combined 5-24, and Gordon/Allen 0-8 on open looks. Just like how their hot shooting in their 3 regular season matchups isn’t sustainable, the Suns shooting in game 1 won’t be the norm either. Those numbers will revert to the mean, but I agree Wolves win this series, unfortunately
Getting beat 3 times or however many times is enough for a team to snap out of it and dig deep. Finch is a good coach , he got them into the top 3 seeding this year from being a play in team two years straight before that. Like you pointed out in the video, Suns had a lot of blown coverages as well, and wolves just missed shots. Wolves definitely have nights where they're automatic, and they blow teams out the gym before the half . I feel like game one, the wolves beat the suns by more than 10 and get a statement win. After that, it's up in the air tbh. Any of these two teams are good enough to beat any team in the league. Wolves beat most of the top teams all year.
Booker is much better in playoffs. Beal will be great also. KD is KD. I don’t see Minnesota being able to slow those 3 down for 7 games or beating them 4 times. Suns in 5 or 6

When it comes to the new seating rules i do think its messed up that the number 1 seed doesnt get to findout their opponent till the last day. Obvious its just as hard if not harder for the 8th seed. But as the number 1 seed you should be more rewarded.

Rooting for Suns but good points here. I think they Wolves have a good chance. Playoffs are playoffs but Suns are still turnover machines because they're still building their chemistry. Also Coach Vogel is still trying to figure out the rotation on and making adjustments during games. Theyve been consistently inconsistent. Been Rollercoaster season, we'll see!

The thing I’m watching with the Wolves is how they guard Grayson Allen. Although he has been the best three point shooter this year, we’ve often seen shooters struggle making shots in playoff series. Are they gonna play off him and ignore his spacing threat?
Even if we assume the Wolves will shoot in line with season averages (no reason to indicate that will happen against the Suns), the issue is that the Wolves defence is not effective against the midrange onslaught from Book and KD. There are paths for the Wolves to win, but winning on the road, in 6? Highly unlikely.

My pick is the Suns. They basically make KAT a defensive liability and I trust they can keep up the good shooting to enough of an extent to win. Plus, as you said, Minnesota has some clear offensive limitations. However, I have it going 7 and it could go either way.
Finally, someone that's not biased. I feel the same. Both of these teams are capable of being the top team in the west , wolves are just younger. Suns will automatically be the favorites because of experience, but wolves can ball when they're locked in. We seen them beat Boston and Denver twice this year. This will probably be one of the most interesting matchups this first round. We'll see who comes out on top

PHX has three brilliant scorers who can facilitate offense out of isolation and hit with efficiency from midrange. It negates the defensive strengths of MIN, which are oriented on the slack given to their perimeter D by the fear the Wolves instill in the paint.
Midrange efficiency and improv off the iso is one of the best counters to that, PHX having three elite options to bring that frustration is huge. If they are playing with chemistry and discipline they have a path to dominate surprisingly.
But size, depth and the ascent of Ant offer options to bully and wear out the Suns. Looking at the possibilities, the matchup is interesting - now I'm ten minutes in and you're pointing out the exact thing I was commenting so you've earned my subscription. Conceding the midrange is a dangerous game against the Suns.
It could go either way, but that will depend on consistency and teamwork from PHX, so I say Wolves in six. Teams built with the right blend of players to run the coaches system with discipline and and never stray far from operating as a cohesive unit are better for the league and funner to watch than teams like PHX or LAC whose regular season success can only be trusted so much, given that in pressure scenarios those star-heavy teams with iso threats can fall apart in seconds once frustration and ego boils over.

I showed how both the Suns and Wolves had outlier shooting on opposite ends of the spectrum in their 3 regular season matchups, so using head to head record isn’t a great indicator of how the play will translate.
Then I went into some of the ins and outs of strengths/weaknesses offensively and defensively and ultimately why I lean one way slightly. Not sure where “make shots and miss shots” falls into that, but thanks for watching!
