Old farm house secluded and in decay/Find cool old things

- Hey house lovers and explorers! Back out in the rural areas to film some old places that have been hard working farms of yesteryear. This old place was in rough shape but the outbuilding at the rear held some very cool old treasure to look at. :-) Thought I would upload this one first as there are more to come. Along with the many suburbian ones still to come also! Werner was with me on this one so if you have not already sub`d to him check out his channel here- / @wernersadventures8330

There is something melancholic about seeing the windmill turning on and on while all that surrounds it stops and crumbles.

I hate to say it, but I was using a soap saver shaker back in the 80’s in Home Economics at high school to wash the dishes. And you could still buy them in the 90’s because I did. But probably not any more as who uses soap bars now 😊

That music you played after the intro, with the violins, was real nice. What was it? You said the newspaper may have been around from the 30's. Thats almost 100 years old. Hard to believe, right. Agreed, house looked older than 1923. Very interesting video.

Hi Paul, what you called a furnace is actually the fireplace that held the copper tub for heating water. I loved the drone footage in the intro.
When I was a little tacker, I remember the ice man coming to our house early 1960s, House built 1956-58, Still there, 2 Alamein St , Shepparton,Vic, Now modernized, Back yard another house, Love the old houses history ❤🤠🦘🦘🇦🇺

Loving the drone work and new music Paul. She was a lovely old home. I still try to imagine the buildings with their polished floor boards, lovely large windows and the business of a country property. I miss exploring the old properties 'round Geelong region, my home. I love all the years of tools and nicknats. Meat Locker was exceptional! It's great how you put everything back....lucky find Werner, good onya! Thank you guys😊

Beautiful scenery. I love hearing the sheep in the background. It must have been a great farm house back in the day, filled with happy memories. These old homes are magnificent. It really is like taking a step back in time.
I wonder how many families lived there or was it one family through the generations? Watching these explores makes me reminisce of how life used to be before technology and reminds me of the old farm house I lived in when I was 8 years old for a while in Tasmania with my mum. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 😊

Great to see a new episode of an abandoned rural farmhouse
it looks like it used to be a big farm at one time with all of the
sheds and barns in the back area of the house and it is still
used for grazing lambs and sheep but i like these rural areas
i really enjoyed exploring both inside and outside these older
places like this, this is another great old place to explore and

Love this old home it's seen better days. it's great to see it, though. Ah you found some 'Green death' was a great beer until it was discontinued, then reserected by the eastern states. That meat safe needs to be "aquired" and then saved from further decay. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, MM :)
My style of home, that's why I had built similar 35 years ago in Brisbane.. verandah/ porch right across the front of the home .. my MUM had one of those soap holders and would use to wash dishes with, give it a good shake to get the suds.. good old SUNLIGHT SOAP.. magnificent views and scenery ..so sad to see these homes left.. thanks for the tour ❤

Thanks, Paul. Haven't seen a poor video yet. While I don't have your knowledge, I agree with your thoughts on the 1923 addition. I don't imagine the settlers of the 1880-90s time being able to build more than the two rooms to begin their farming life. As always, looking forward to the next one.

refrigerator back then
large ice blocks were
stored in the bottom
used to keep foods
cold.

That drone shot made the video even more spectacular mate this was a awesome cool explore and we had the best weather for it even though it was mid June. The end cinder room was a time capsule indeed another excellent explore mate cheers.

Great video. With the newer fencing take it house in it's final days. Then to, it is in much decay.... Please be safe....
1923 is on the rendered corner Paul. I reckon the render came later. I agree on the late 1800s because such a steep roofed and narrow verandah goes with that time period according to to what I see in WA. More a colonial build. But those big windows are so unique. I also think the last whole structure must be original because of the deep platform the whole front of the building is on. That would have been hard to add to for a later build and it all looks the same. Wondering if that strange fire place boiler?? thing had a tap on it for heating bath and washing water. Something looking like it when I looked it up

Cheers Gary. That is pretty old then. I remember my Mother telling me she could remember the ice man delivering a big block for their fridge back in the late 40`s early 50`s :-)
I’d say that was the base for an old copper ( water heater) .

Another great one, Paul! Southwark Ale...AKA (by Victorians): "GREEN DEATH".🤣 You mentioned this vid was filmed in July, maybe last year? A mate has a farm up north, near Booleroo Centre & a month ago he did a bit of "dry seeding" of wheat on half his farm, hoping it would rain, which it certainly did in the last few days. Farming always was quite a gamble...!!!Thanks for the link to Werner. Many more videos to work my way through. Nuthin' on TV!!!👍

That house is earlier than the 1920's..TPS cable was introduced in the 1960's as is the fuse box... probably 32v generated before that.

The furnace is a base to a wood fired copper heating the water up for washing clothes there would have been a copper insert and lid the fridge under the verandah is a kerosene fridge . Iam guessing the house is federation period ? and maybe the 1923 period is when they updated it by rendering it and other improvements
Hi Charles 🙂 I think the original main 2 rooms of the home were built first in late 1800s then they added the surrounding rooms in 1923 to match the original part. So yes the additions could be considered Federation is that is in fact what happened although it was done to match the late Victorian style on the outside. 🙂

When you go into a place like this and don't find certain flooring, it it because it rotted away, the building was in the process of a tear down or like copper wiring, the wood was valuable enough to steal?
Do you think the floors get stolen, or sold by the owner?
Usually they are Baltic pine and used in furniture etc.
So confused. Surely the sheep belong to the neighbouring property right? Who maintains them? Makes sure they have food, water and sheering? Did they not realise they had missing sheep?

Such a wonderful beautiful old farm house.
Would have been quite a show piece back in the day.
It was obviously a very loved home at one time.
The remainders of its owners care can be seen in the few pieces that are left behind.
Walls painted. Windows cared for up till Noone lived there anymore.
And the 8 panel windows mean that this home has to be older than 1920's.
And the beautifully thick walls. The house would have been a lovely warm cosey place in winter. And kept cool and comfortable during the melting hot Australian summers.
Love the wrap around veranda providing plenty of shade during the hot day..
So sad that this magnificent home has been left abandoned.
It would have been a great home.
