    I hope that colony did well after the move!
    Im still attempting to catch a wild swarm here, simply to give them a safe place to grow in numbers.
    Looking into joining the local bee club, in order to educate those who buy bees every year on natural bee keeping methods, also to get a feel where they have their hives, so cross genetics dont harm the genetic strain of the more wild bees.
    My goal is to create strong colonies, those that require no intervention from those most common pests.

    Looks like a great family hive. Good luck with the flow. I have one in the barn that I gave up on for now. Bees do not like the flow frames. Plan on dipping them in wax and hope that entices the bees.

      That may work. I’m a bit nervous about it, but excited to try it ❤️

    • @ianmackintosh7278
      @ianmackintosh7278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom and Kaylee, do you have the Flow Super to go with the Flow Frames or is it just the Flow Frames?
      I am thinking if you use the Flow Super as a Brood Box single high with 2 Flow Frames 1 on each outside, when the hive is strong enough the bees will work those frames and as they are the outside frames will mostly only have honey in them.
      Once the bees have started working the Flow Frames (that means the bees are repairing the cells and just started to put honey or pollen in them) remove all the normal frames and put them into a normal Brood Box. Them put the Flow Frame Honey Supper on top with the 2 started frames in the middle and the rest of the Flow Frames on each side of the started Flow Frames in the flow supper.
      YOU NEED A STRONG HIVE AND GOOD HONEY FLOW BEFORE THE BEES WILL MOVE UP INTO ANY HONEY SUPPER.
      If you have a "Flow Hive" Supper you will note it has a strip of aluminium under the flow tubes, this stops the bees coming up from the frames below when you are retrieving the honey.
      If you don't have a "Flow Hive" Supper you will need to put a strip of aluminium or plastic (about 20mm wide and the full width of the inside of the Brood Box) on top of the ends of the Brood Frames, to stop the bees coming out when you collect your honey through the flow tubes.
      Have you looked at all the VLOG's "Flow Hive" have put out.
      Copy and paste this link: th-cam.com/channels/oMaw-jngK_3KcYqb-9BVCA.htmlvideos

    • @ianmackintosh7278
      @ianmackintosh7278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHoneystead What is there to be nervous about, You are the Lady!!!!!! Queen of the BEES. The main issues I can foresee is do you have the true "Flow Hive" Supper or the copy or just the Flow Frames? Read below and you might see why I say that.
      Remember Bees only go to a next box when they are strong and have a good honey flow so it does not matter what you do.
      If there are not enough bees and plenty of room in the Brood Box the bees will stay in the Brood Box.
      Don't forget the Queen Excluder between the Boxes. The cell size of the Flow Frames is about Drone size not Brood size.

    • @ianmackintosh7278
      @ianmackintosh7278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom maybe take 2 Flow Frames out of the center and replace with 3 normal frames that have honey, nectar and brood (Not Drone brood) to encourage the bees to work your top box. Remember you need a strong hive and good honey flow for the bees to want to move into the next box no mater what it is.

    wow we had very bad rains happen could not get a vehicle into when I had the haves figure out the only way to that the 25 boxes out was with horses made bags for the bees boxes moved them at night the horses never got a string but taking us all night to take them out had them all marked how each hive went back together to amazing the hives made it in the morning all the bee out a bit confused too
    then august we had more bad weather had 2 storms back to back with each other we had grapefruit-size hailstones pounded us washout the road to check the bees 3 weeks ago we got back there to see if we had any of the hives lift long day amazing the got hammered too have100 hives down in that area 4 different place had to look at all of the hives were on the side or have hole where the stones broke the boards the only way was to put them in a new boxes we worked and got the bee in the boxes like the wanted to go in them something at night we moved them I did not know if the would even if they would make it throw the winter outside we have warehouses in the city we store potatoes in there we had to use them his year for the last years harvest never got to be sold we helped the smaller farms out to get there sold this year we told them we need to move some ourselves we did take some to the elevator was not a good crops this year to wet we choise to get rid of this we still have 1/4 of standing corn and lift more wheat and barley out there to muddy to cut it
    the bee is in the warehouses I do go and check on the hives and feed them too we missed 1 queen to caged her for the move the bees did swarm when they were inside the warehouse they did not like being here they without the queen the bee found the hives with the queens they all find with this now just on that queen was not caged I have found then they are ok did have to move a lot to found out the man lift I can not lift to get to them they were checking out the box have not moved inside but they are in the lift now no rush to get to them right now the man lift somehow would not let us lower itself down that is why we do not like to rent or own used equipment I do feed the bees each day moved each week were i put it just the water i do leave in 1 spot the sugar water and the feeding pollen patties i will keep moving around they bee do fly around did check the hives the queens are busy i will put honey cones on the top of each hive 1 once a month they have there honey
