  • Inner Healing: With Jack Deere
In this episode, our friend and Micael's mentor, Jack Deere, comes on the show to discuss inner healing. Does God perform inner healing, do we see inner healing in the bible, how do we practice inner healing and more. Hope you enjoy.

Jack has had an amazing impact on my wife's life and mine. We would drive for hours to hear him. He gave a word of knowledge to me without knowing or seeing me through a friend, at a very difficult time in our life. That word saved our bacon. It lifted us up and carried us through a time of major rejection for over two years. He said ,"Man has kicked you out, but God has kicked you up." Thank you Jack, you are loved by us. Sincerely Gary and Sandy

I listened to this once and watched it with my bride later. I think both of us agree that one of Jack's strengths is demystifying subjects that tend to be complicated or controversial. At least we thought he did that in this episode...giving us common ground to agree on. And I really am thankful for you guys pressing the issues and difficult questions on this topic. We are of course still left with many questions so we'd love for you guys to consider a second episode. Stephanie brought up ideas and questions stemming from her counseling/psychology background (perhaps someone like Larry Crabb or Dan Allender would be good to interview here?), and I tend to want to explore more the theological assumptions (mainly views about God and man) in inner healing. We both have also had our own experiences with God and later on with inner healing. Our conversations about this topic have always come down to this question: Are we more sinful than wounded? Another way to put it: Is our biggest problem pain, or sin? I tend to think how folks answer these questions relate precisely to where they are on the counseling spectrum (Biblical counseling, Christian counseling, Counseling that's Christian etc.), how they view the atonement, and ultimately the problem of evil. There are those who sideline or completely deny penal substitution and develop atonement theories tailored specifically to accommodate the wounded. So, where does the modern practice of inner healing land on these issues? Or, a good research question would be: For those who go to inner healing or do inner healing, what are the most commonly held beliefs about man and God? It seems to me one of the driving assumptions behind some practices of inner healing is that man's biggest problem is how they've been wounded, not how they've wounded God; crimes against them, not their crimes against God. So built-in to some inner healing practices are assumptions that in themselves need to be addressed, but instead they serve as the actual pivot points. I'd argue that emphasis eventually cuts them off from genuine healing and being able to forgive others. I didn't intend to write this much, and it's my first ever TH-cam comment, so forgive me! Again, would be interested in an Inner Healing part 2.

Thank you, Jack! Inner healing is often maligned. I am a grateful recipient of inner healing. I studied the Word, prayed, worshipped, was a participant in the church community, etc. I was steadily sanctified over that 30 year period. However, it wasn’t until I experienced inner healing at the age of 61 that I began experiencing the deep freedom Jesus bought for me at the cross. Your comments and answers to questions were excellent! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

You don't ask people to imagine where Jesus was in the room when the trauma occurred. You ask the Lord to show them where He was when the event occurred . Or What would the Lord like to show you about the situation. The idea theologically is that God never leave us or forsakes us. If you are not a believer when you are traumatized, you simply believe the omnipresence of God - He saw it...

I have done inner healing with soaking, going back to the moment of trauma, applying the Blood of Jesus to the wound then sealing up the wound with the Glory Light. Here recently I’ve started to feel a little iffy about the process because it’s just that, a process & steps. I feel like I dealt in some kind of New Age practice or mysticism. I’m totally confused with inner healing now.

Inner healing is taught in the scriptures. But one should pray and seek the Lord in how to start this process. When words are used like “soaking, the glory light” I would feel iffy about it it too. Ask the Lord to forgive you of anything you may have participated in that was not of God. And ask the Holy Spirit to teach you what to do and for discernment. Some inner healing ministries say they are biblical but they either use new age methods or the “counselors” are wolves in sheep’s clothing (SOZO, theophostic). Pray for God to lead you.

It is useful to distinguish between the justification work of the Cross and that power to overwhelm any and all generational sin, trauma, hurt, pain etc. in making us blameless and whole before the Throne, and the process of sanctification that encompasses inner healing/emotional healing/spiritual clarity. Inner healing doesn’t presuppose a defect at the Cross because it is not coupled with justification. It comes post justification as part of sanctification.

I suffered trauma as a child that manifested as extreme sexual jealousy as an adult that destroyed every relationship. I believe it was a spirit because it harassed and consumed me beyond simple jealousy. I did not forgive anybody anything. I would encounter God years later and jealousy was one of the things that left me - I describe it as raging jealousy way beyond the pale. So besides being set free from methadone addiction, psyche meds and the love of street drugs, there was a full emotional healing as the Holy Spirit filled me. I suffered no withdrawal, even forgetting that I was ever a drug addict, my whole identity changed. So God did a healing that was both physical and emotional - as well as spiritual.
I agree that unforgiveness is an open door to demonic activity. When I got on my knees and prayed, the Holy Spirit would not just reveal Jesus to me as if a formula of the prayer I said from a tract. I was stopped at the point of asking for forgiveness and instructed to (led) forgive a long list of people who came to mind. He was leading me to forgive others as I asked for forgiveness for an equally long list of known sins. I say 'known' because some were not until God revealed them to be so.
Jesus can and does heal the whole person if the person being delivered is within the will of what the Holy Spirit is doing.

I was always taught by my spiritual mom to have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Jesus was always led by the Spirit. Even when he was in the desert, He was filled with the Spirit. Regarding the long-winded question. In some other countries when a person is saved they go into the demon tense right after. Yes they are called the demon tents. And there are prime minister's that take that person and they sit them down or lie them down in the tent and they do prayers for generational healing and personal send healing and Trauma healing if it takes up to eight hours or more if they do it until the person is completely cleansed and free. It's a good rule of thumb to believe that every born again Christian it has generational issues and personal sensitive cause trauma and that they need inner healing and you can attach to that also Deliverance cuz they kind of go hand-in-hand. It may not seem fair if something's attached because of a great-great-grandfather's sin but that's the way it is in God is the guideline we are not in the more we know him in the more we seek Him He Reveals His mysteries on to us that's what the Bible says. That's why inner healing has come into being because the Lord's Mercy has created the reality of the ministry in the world. More and more is revealed over time as each person seeks God and people that have no more the through a humble Spirit seek to bring that to the world in the body of Christ Christian Ministry whether it's inner healing or different kinds of ministry. It's always good to go through inner healing. The Holy Spirit Will Reveal and evens not err on the side of okay I'm going to pretend this is true so I'm going to say the prayers and ask for God's healing and mercy in my life in this area. That's not going to hurt to say the prayers even if there's no issue. But if one doesn't know if there's an issue one can assume there's an issue and say the prayers and ask for God's guidance and healing to the power of His spirit. Just like Nutrition a person a couple of times a year not everyone but some people will do cleansing in their body nutritional cleansing it. All the more we should do spiritual cleansing pardon the cliche were cleansing you use whatever word you want for our spiritual health. It's kind of like continually repenting. And just asking the Lord to constantly seek our heart and getting Ministry prayer like a routine let's say twice a year once the foundational healing has been done. That's my rule of thumb over many many many many many years three decades. God bless you all. Abd pardon any typos this was audio text

Faith and repentance (salvation and sanctification, in the community of the ekklesia) looks like:
Eph. 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. | 1 Tim. 2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

The early ekklesia had practices around this general area [study church history when you can because practices change by time, geography, creeds, denominations, congregation, etc.] One starting point: the relationship of exorcism and baptism (which is connected to receiving the gift [seal] of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament texts). Please read more than just this one article but hopefully it will begin the journey:
Authors such as Eusebius (3rd century) and Augustine (4th century) provide further details of these minor exorcisms, prayers and ceremonies performed over adults preparing for baptism. Eusebius mentions the imposition of hands and prayer. Among the Latins, and especially at Rome, breathing accompanied with a form of exorcism and placing in the mouth a little exorcised salt, was employed in addition to the signing with the cross and the imposition of hands. Mostly those in the minor order of exorcist performed the ceremony of exorcism, then a priest signed the catechumens with the cross and laid hands upon them. The final ceremony took place on Holy Saturday, when the priest himself performed the ceremony of exorcism.

Exactly, no demons in the temple! Jesus healed the people of demon possession and then they followed him. (ie. Mary Magdalene & the demoniac on the shore) . Only the wicked are inhabited as in this story Jesus tell in Matthew 12, "43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” ...in this story notice that the house is unoccupied. We must have the Spirit living in us. To say that the sealed people of God can be demon possessed is to say that our cars could run on sugar instead of gasoline. A believers struggle is with his own flesh and powers from without, but not within.! Be Blessed, Be Diligent & Be Discerning!

Bible says a curse causeless shall not come come and that the sins of the fathers are passed down to the third and fourth Generations. There are real things such as familiar spirits and familiar spirits familiar Spirit might be a teenager hanging out with a bunch of drunks and then by his 20s he's drunk and that's a familiar Spirit that's got on to him. Familial Spirit would be one that's passed down to the family mind. And those kinds of spirits could be any kind of spirit just depending on how it takes its form whether it's lust greed Pride victimhood etcetera. You seem very evident in the word of God through the different stories like the demoniac who was freed and such Etc person being handed over to Satan etcetera. And it's evident if you just look at generational families just look at your neighbor as yourself your siblings or parents or grandparents your friends parents their habits the blessings and the curses are passed down. If you don't like the word curse called something else negative energy and set it up. But all is one needs to do and I don't mean to sit is a criticism is just look around you when it's very very evident. Thankfully Jesus is created a way for Freedom through the healing of memories through the healing of trauma through his Supernatural grace and mercy upon people through words of knowledge through gift in a healing ministers even through dreams at night that people have that God says I'm going to heal you now. This is happened to me in all of these forms and many more. And plenty of others I know around the country have gone through inner healing and the Holy Spirit has led their lives and has set them free overtime sometimes instantly in certain circumstances but then they still had other things to do for a man that took longer. Thank God for the gift of inner healing.

I am someone who has been set free from years of trauma, abuse, and was in and out of psych wards. But when I came to Christ, I began to experience inner healing supernaturally. My whole life changed. When people suggested that I needed to start going to 'inner healing' and 'restoring the foundation', that's when a lot of confusion set it. It was so refreshing to hear that every question that concerned me about inner healing was addressed in this video. I had a problem when visualizing things at the prompting of someone else. Btw, I am one who dreams every night and have many visions. I am against all forms of manipulation and conjuring things up and calling it God. I also felt like the gospel should be enough to heal. Furthermore, I could not reconcile the fact that people believed that the gospel was not enough to deliver people from generational curses. So this video was so good and let me know that I was not alone in my questioning of some inner healing practices that are present today. Not to mention the ridiculous prices that are tagged onto the ministry. If you want to be inner healed, some places charge lots of money.

Just not finding jack very convincing, this stuff becomes pretty messy and unfortunately I’ve seen this type of theology/ therapy create more problems than solve them.
And good on you josh for your level headed questions and pushback, Michael and Miller would follow this guy over a cliff 🤕
