Hey bookworms! Due to multiple requests I present this collab without cuts and leave the bloopers and errors in. Hope you enjoy! Also; chill out with the accusations of people talking over each other. This is what happens in a group discussion. It’s just bullshitting and not an interview.
Just saw Mike and Christopher at my local barnes! Two incredibly kind and respectful human beings. Thank both of you for the event and the good vibes! It was especially crazy meeting mike after watching his channel since his wheel of time and dresden reviews 😅
I enjoyed this conversation so much. Also I want to say at some point Ryan said something along the lines of ( I hope that if someone didn't love my first book I'd appreciate them giving my second book a chance) and that inspired me to start "of darkness and light" today.
Love Christopher’s takes on things. Feel very much the same way. Now I have to go get Ryan’s books because he is such a great person also. Thanks for sharing this. Great job Mike, as always.
You obviously never met any Irish people.its just how things are,my own family hard for me to almost ever get a word in.especially if they been drinking forget it.might be annoying but just a fact of life.
So nice to hear Ryan defend my favourite WOT character Perrin, completely agree I was devastated! And Abel to, the TV Abel would not have walked to the white tower with Tam to find his son !
The B&N Panel in Dallas was sold out and had over 100 people on the waitlist. So sad that I missed it but I’m so happy you had such a fantastic week with two of your favorite authors, Mike! Go Cowboys though! 🤣
I'm just about 100 pages from finishing Of War and Ruin. Damn Ryan, you made something Really Awesome. My next read is Dune and I think this just convinced me to dive into Suneater in October. Thanks Mike! 😁
Loved just getting to hear the back and forth. I'm with you guys on a lot of this. I liked HotD season 2, and I think the character development was decent. I wish we'd had two more episodes and slightly better end to the season, but I get why they did it (aside from the funding issues). And many adaptations need SOME changes, but yeah... putting their mark on things in often cliche ways gets annoying.
Just want to say as I watch the conversation about cancelling shows after season 1 and continuing series if you were 50/50 on the first one... I've read the first books of both these authors, felt 50/50 on them both, and have book 2 of each on my shelf to read soon. Mostly that is because of the overwhelming response of the sophomore novels on booktube - but just throwing it out there!
Ryan had a good point about studios not wanting to risk it on adapting a new series. Which is probably why they churn out so many remakes in the first place. It's just shocking how out of touch they can be with what the fans, whether they are hardcore or casual, want. As far as WoT show is concerned.. I have no idea how they greenlit it with Rafe Judkins at the helm. Also, 28:48 Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike. What day is it Mike?
@@mikesbookreviewsmy creative writing teacher emphasized how the most fundamental part of being a writer is being a well read person, so you’ve got that box checked ✅
Very interesting to see the different opinions especially on things relevant to their writing. Things that stood out to me were the length of books and giving series a second chance after a questionable book/season 1. Both of these author's Book1 is their weakest IMO. I understand Ryan's empathy for that, but I agree with the other guys that no one is entitled to a second chance, especially with the length of the series (written or runtime).
You obviously never met any Irish people.its just how things are,my own family hard for me to almost ever get a word in.especially if they been drinking forget it.might be annoying but just a fact of life.
Also I don't agree with comparisons to your books Ryan "I want people to give my second book a chance" your books at there very worst would never touch rings of power bad. would be below average at worst. So there's substance and a path seen to give a book 2 a chance. It's not an absolute destruction of a story.
I feel like Ryan was speaking over everyone the whole time and for the love of god stop cutting off Christopher, let him finish his thought.... holy shit!
You obviously never met any Irish people.its just how things are,my own family hard for me to almost ever get a word in.especially if they been drinking forget it.might be annoying but just a fact of life.
The clone wars season 1 and season 1 of the acolyte are in no way comparable in terms of quality. Also, the acolyte destroyed the entire lore of star wars.

Without a doubt
But awesome chat man!
Enjoyed. But wow Ryan dominated this conversation. I really wanted to hear Christopher perspective. Please be kind and let others speak.
Exactly 💯
I wanted to follow Mike's request and be chill about this but listening to this conversation I'm like Cahill please let Chris finish his thought...
Well you're in luck because I had a separate conversation with just Christopher that is on the channel now.
