I think her friend is out for a while. Im sure if it was only 2-3 months they would not stay. I am thinking its more 5-6 months plus period of time. Plus it makes sense as the current rent they pay is so expensive and I believe if they stay at their friends place rent is covered so they would say thousands of dollars which can be invested towards a different place. Plus breaking a lease is a lot cheaper than paying the rent.

I think it was a win-win situation tho because they get to save rent and they can spend time looking for a better and more permanent place
