- After Gwyneth Paltrow took the stand Friday, plaintiff Terry Sanderson followed up the actress's testimony by taking the stand himself Monday. Paltrow claimed Sanderson’s allegations are false, stating he hit her from behind to cause the collision. Sanderson told a completely different story when testifying, alleging the famed actress crashed into him, causing debilitating injuries that he continues to live with today. I don't think any of you have ever been skiing before. You wouldn't be able to skis in between someone elses skis especially when your a seasoned skier. As a seasoned skier you ski pararell. Shes saying someone put there skis in between hers from behind which would be a beginner skier sking with the pizza shape. V Intermediate skiers ski with there skis like this == not like this V . If he would of hit her in any way it would of been more of a sweep from behind.

What I don't understand is...Why would Sanderson refuse help from ski patrol??? $ broken ribs??? You don't get up and brush that off. That is debilitating pain. You don't ski away from that. Also, if he was knocked unconscious for however long, I really doubt ski patrol would accept a refusal for help just out of a concern for liability.
My mom had 3 broken ribs and she still did physical therapy she was in pain but we missed on the x-ray. Her doctor didn’t notice it until she hat a ct a few weeks later

As a retired Ski patrol I would say that given Gwyneth was making symmetrical short radius turns down the fall line on the extreme right of the run shows she was in control of her speed and skiing responsible out of everyone's way. This guy was crossing across the entire run from edge to edge all the way down which is endangering every single skier as well as showing extremely risky and irresponsible practices around other skiers on that run. This guy's story just doesn't add up at all.
as someone who has been skiing for over 30 yrs, I thought the same thing. She was going steady, short turns, while he used the whole piste, coming extremely close to the whole group of skiers (her family, kids and everything!). That alone shows me that he must be a selfish, bad skier, you don't ski like this if you're being responsible
He’s not paying attention and collides with another skier who he never saw. In his mind he honestly believes that she caused the collision. He obviously never saw her for whatever reason. Either that or he is flat out lying and trying to get money from a celebrity.

How about this: She's on the left, her son calls her, she turns and is slowly sliding down (back to the side, looking up the slope). He comes from the right and they collide. He is behind her since she turned looking at the son. That way both are at fault. She sliding down slowly, he coming from the right and BOOM. She could have given him some money for broken ribs and closed it. These people are so cheap.
We appreciate these clips. It gives us further insight into this particular case.
My two thoughts on this case. 1) As much as I totally and completely dislike GP, she comes off more credible on the stand. Mr. S was very-wishy washy and perhaps was under the impression GP would settle the case before going to trial but had to go through with it when GP decided to fight it. 2) I hope the ski resort starts video recording the activity on their slopes from open to close to help avoid these kind of lawsuits in the future. If no incidents or accidents aren't reported by the end of the week, videos can be erased.
of course GP is good and at ease in front of the camera. she's an actress -run of the mill for her. however, neither Sanderson and his witnesses aren't accustomed to that. Add to that, the publicity this trial is getting, I'm sure it's intimidating, unnerving, and very rattling! part of his case is the brain injury. his cognitive functioning has been compromised. they aren't taking that into consideration. his lawyers need to get in there more and defend him.

I don't think you understand how big ski resorts are, and the cost that would be associated with setting up camera coverage over the entire mountain. Deer Valley, which is not one of the bigger resorts out there, would have over 2000 acres to cover. Some of the larger mountains have more than four times that size.

I have been hit on ski hill too and find her explanation quite credible…being hit from behind is unexpected and quite a shocking surprise. I believe her completely.

What happened to him getting “knocked out?” If she cussed him out and said you crashed into me right after the impact, and he immediately said “I think you ran into me,” before she yelled and stormed off. Did he fall unconscious immediately after she skied away?
Here is the summary. The guy needs money and saw Gwyenth as an easy target. So he hit her and claimed it was her fault.

He says he has serious brain damage and then a conversation with a ski patrol ,about her horses name and he members this in detail , and this is right after accident , omg , he ruined his case ,if I was on jury
Her account of events sounds very logical. Something similar happened to me and believe me I was very angry. After the incident I was so mad and then you start feeling the pain that I didn't want to deal with the situation and my husband took care of it. I went to my kids who were in front of me. I can totally see this happening the way she describes it.

I get the feeling he was looking for a settlement but now he's going to end up bankrupt in her legal fees.
He admitted his own girlfriend didn’t “buy into” his recent changes. This was THE SINGLE MOST case shattering statement he’s made. Truth be known, more than likely, he got angry when she called him out on her suspicions and he got SO ANGRY he ended the relationship abruptly because it humiliated him and made him very mad, plus if she already was doubting the legitimacy of his claims he knew she most definitely was a potential threat to his case and could contradict to his assertions or expose some things she saw.

@Gilmour - And admitting on the stand under oath that he misspeaks a lot is not going to help. The Defence attorney also poked holes in his statements by catching him in a number of inconsistencies that Sanderson admitted to. He is such an unreliable witness that he should never have been allowed to testify.

He wouldn't have gotten the injuries he got if he ran into her, she would've cushioned his fall. A doctor on the stand has stated that he believes she ran into him because of this reason.

Being on a ski mountain you assume some risk. It’s very easy to file suits against rich famous people. I remember watching a movie where the rich guy in the limo was so used to people causing accidents just to make a penny that as soon as his limo got in an accident his butler and team would park the car and a taxi would be hailed and the rich famous guy would jump into the taxi and drive away to a meeting point. If they stay on the scene or are recognized then there’s trouble. This suit should be dropped

It was 3 years. The process began in 2019 and they did depositions in 2020. It just took a while to go to trial.

I was just about to write this!! I actually had an accident skiing 2yrs ago. I bruised my back quite badly...nothing broken ...but even with just bruises I could not move without assistance. Literally almost had to be carried back up. So......how could anyone walk away with broken ribs 🤔🤔🤔

When you’re injured, there’s a thing called shock. My husband has broken ribs on occasion and once he rode his bike home with a pelvis fractured in 2 places. I’m a nurse and I had to take him to the hospital. So yeah people can ski down a hill with broken ribs if they can ride a bike. What they cannot do however, is ski down a mountain with a “traumatic brain injury” as he claims to have. Especially if he was unconscious for 10 minutes.

GP and her lawyers have to mention losing "half a day of skiing" bc that has a monetary value. In the US court system when you sue someone you have to prove you lost something of actual VALUE. It's a technical thing. GP is only suing for one dollar, far less than she actually lost (thousands of dollars), bc she doesn't want money. She wants to prove Sanderson is lying & falsely accusing her.

Basically what I think is this. Gwyneth Paltrow could easily have settled this out of court, he did not ask for that much money, and she can definitely afford it. On top of that, she countersues for 1$, which tells me this is all about principle for her. As much as I hate this woman and everything she stands for, I believe her. This is exactly what I think I’d do if I was telling the truth, and some guy sued me for money for something I didn’t do, even if I could make it all go away by paying easily. I’d want the truth to come out. I have to say, I’m on her side on this one, not to mention her version and everything seems to make the most sense. I do not trust this man or anything he says.

Linda Sorensen Lichtenstein - People with brain problems can be very labile. However, I am not convinced that Paltrow caused his injury. Maybe it is organic or it was caused well before or way after the accident - I just don't know. None of us do.
It’s just like a car accident. If you are driving along distracted or not, and I’m not saying she was, and someone rearends you they are at fault for not having control of their vehicle! Period!

I live in Colorado, ski frequently, and have been skiing for over 40 years. From my experience, and not as a hard rule, some resorts tend to be more crowded than others, and depending on the terrain, certain mountains will attract and perhaps even breed more erratic, out of control skiers.
For example, Keystone has longer and wider runs when compared to Copper Mountain. They're both excellent ski areas with terrain ranging from beginner to expert/extreme. But, Keystone having the wider, longer and faster runs will invariably have larger number of out of control skiers. It's not rocket science.
Each time I've been to Keystone, I've witnessed a collision or a near collision. In fact, three weeks ago, my friend was hit by another skier who plowed into him. By contrast, I've skied Copper dozens of times and have only seen one collision and that was due to two idiots creating a jump ramp inside the trees, hidden from everyone's view. A wreck waiting to happen.
Breckenridge is another resort with long, fast runs and many out of control skiers. Yet, Vail, a larger mountain, doesn't seem to breed craziness.
Again, the above are only my observations after having skied dozens of times at these places.
All that said, it's highly likely that neither one of the individuals in this case was "uphill" from the other. At least not so far uphill as to make it apparent. It's very possible that they collided while being at the same level of the slope, maybe one being a couple of feet above the other, but not high enough to make a difference in the final outcome of the judgment.

There was no video. You get hit and the ground causes the injury.
@@masonkanterbury3007 The ground doesn't necessarily always cause the injury. If he hit her from behind, it would make total sense for him to instinctively grab her and pull her down with him causing her to fall on his chest and breaking his ribs.

I have skiied most of my life and i cannot imagine ANYONE skiing in between another persons skiis. HOW is this possible? No room to do this. You would have to be in a VERY awkward (impossible) position. Spread eagled. Certainly not the position of an experienced skiier.
Are you kidding me??? Why do ppl keep saying stuff like this? Skis extend beyond your body, are only a few inches wide & are meant to pull apart. A pair of skis can open as wide as your legs can! She was going slowly down the hill. She had enough of a GAP btwn her skis so he could fit his skies in btwn when he came up behind her. Her legs got wider & wider as they skied out of control. They eventually lost balance & fell. Her version sounds perfectly reasonable.

I don't think he meant buy-in. He misuses several common phrases when he's explaining the story. When he said it "she didn't buy into this" before with the other things he said, it sounded like he meant "she didn't sign up for this" his life and lifestyle isn't the same as when they started dating.
I don't have to like GP for me to believe her. I believe she's being honest and credible. Every part of Terry's testimony conflicts with multiple other witnesses' testimony. So in theory, are we supposed to believe a whole slew of witnesses are lying or...Mr Sanderson and his buddy Craig are?

For those who find GP’s demeanor snobbish, I can see how that would be me too. I got rear ended sitting at a stop light by some fool driving a brand new Lexus and he hit me full blast. He walked up to my truck and said, it's my wifes SUV. Ok, if anyone has ever been in a skiing accident, you will know her testimony of the moments of the event make no sense.
She claims she hears “rustling” and someone “pressing on her back” and that his skiis went between hers.
If someone is impacted at such high speeds that they break ribs and get a brain injury, there is absolutely no warning or time to think about someone “pressing on you”. It happens instantly and you are on the ground without knowing what happened.
A credible witness would explain that immediately there was a huge impact and they were on the ground.
Her testimony alone makes little to no sense and I’m disappointed the hosts don’t see that.

How did he get four ribs broken ?
He was an older guy w health problems. I can think of 2 ways he could have broken his ribs:
1. He had his arm bent under his body when he hit the ground. His ribs broke bc of the force of his body crushing them against his arm.
2. GP could have elbowed him in the ribs as they fell &/or hit the ground.
@Victoria Vicky - 3) Also, he could have had osteoporosis, making fractures easier to occur while Paltrow is significantly younger and in good physical condition - she has to be for films.
4) He could have slammed into her hard skis, poles, boots, or helmet. They didn't land on fluffy snow, after all.

Sanderson was being reckless. His friend was not close enough, nor is he that credible. People in Sanderson’s life seem to be walking on eggshells around him. Uh huh, she had a helmet on first off. And he is 20 lbs lighter and he’s now 3 inches shorter-did he have 3 vertebrae removed? Older people shrink but not THAT much. And then his girlfriend didn’t “buy into” his story. Why not say “she didn’t believe me”? This guy thought he was going to get $3 mil off GP & he didn’t realize she’s not just going to give him money for something she didn’t do. The guy is a grifter.
When someone has a head injury that causes memory loss, doesn't the person typically lose the seconds before the impact, too? It's odd that he remembers the scream and everything else up to the moment of contact.
