@@HowtoPowerBI my dude you have already helped me in my career and I plan on sticking around. Keep putting out videos with nice effects like this and there's plenty more. I appreciate you man and hope you and yours are well.
To save on objects - once you have your report page designed, you could swap out the background text and icons for a single image (scrim) and then have only the 'hover' buttons on the page. This might improve performance but the trade off is time to rework the image if you make any design changes to the layout.
Brother you are a beast when it comes to intricately designing dashboards. This is so creative that i began procrastinating over people dropping their jaw when they see something like that in my dashboard. Thank you so much!!!!!🔥
Your video was more helpful than like 5 units from Microsoft's tutorials. Here is what they had in their tutorial, I will let you be the judge: ______________ **On-hover formatting** You can configure buttons to change their state when a hover over is available. When the report consumer hovers the cursor over a button, the cursor icon changes to a pointing finger, which indicates that the button is selectable. In this example, the Tabular button text is light gray by default, but when they hover the cursor over, it darkens to black. Image shows two scenarios. The first scenario shows the "Tabular" button without hover, and the button text is light gray. The second scenario shows the "Tabular" button on hover, and the button text is black. ______________ They told us the hover effect is useful, and advised us that we use it in our reports. But how do we do it? No one cares.
Cheers for this, nice and simple, used it already, 😀👍 do you know how to use bookmarks with these buttons', as I can't get the bookmark to include the pressed button - just reverts to the unselected button state. thanks in advance
Wonderful - Thanks for the tip. I remember trying this in Cognos. Could you please help when we have a image instead of a text in the button. I am struggling to move the image icon to the left - May be use two shape and then use 1 to hide both of them and then show whilst hovering over it. Will it work?
Awesome, 👏👏 I have one question, I have set the horizontal line as a hover effect, but I want to keep the hover effect till I am on that page, the effect should not be gone removing the mouse.
Hello and thank you Bas for this awesome trick. Really enjoy watching your videos... Is there any way that once the user clicks on the button that it keeps showing the icon so that they know what has been selected and what they are seeing on the report? 😀 Thank you so much Mark
You won't believe me if I tell you that I did just that yesterday, except it's a horizontal menu. When I watch your videos I feel like a child in a candy store. Thank you so much.

This is great, now can we have sub-menus under the main menu? perhaps on a button click, we show the sub-menus down and click
Hello sir , In my power BI software there is no option for the default state means it does not show Hover option
For starters, great tip indeed :) I am just wondering, how to approach situation when users want to see on what page they are currently. So like different color of font/box/line for active page?
