Clarinet : Peanuts Hucko / Piano : Mark Shangold / Guitar : Barry Zweig / Bass : Paul Gormley / Drums : Alvin Stoller / @Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial Hall, Tokyo, Japan
I often went to New York between 1975 and 1990. I had the chance to do some jams sessions with my clarinet, with Roy ELRIDGE, Max KAMINSKY as well as the former musicians of Louis ARMSTRONG who had played in this club for a few years. What a great experience it was for me. Now it makes me like a dream
Perfection. He doesnt name the songwriter's name ... Eubie Blake. He was a frequent guest on the "Tonight" show when i was a kid. He was old then and he and Carson were a hoot together.
thankyou swingcla for uploading this absolute gem; thank God for the golden period of music when quality still mattered with material written and legendary musicians like Peanuts Hucko able to entertain us with their talent
Saw Peanuts Hucko back in the fifties in Manchester UK playing with a trumpeter called Max Kaminski. Peanuts played with the Glen Miller Army Air Force band.
I saw him in Singapore about the same time. I was in the RAF there. We gave him a lift back to the Raffles Hotel and he took us all i for a drink. Not the sort of thing you can forget! Chris
I worked for Harold Davison and was asst. road manager with the group, jack teagarden, peanuts, jack lesberg cozy cole, max kaminsky and earl hines, jack was sick in M/C,was with the big bands touring for 6 years UK europe. barrie whitehead
Thanks for the info. I was only a kid at the time and went solo to The Free Trade Hall as non of my mates were jazz fans. I started playing drums locally in Manchester area when I was about 16 and now at age of 79 still a mad jazz fan. Thanks to TH-cam for so much great jazz videos. Greetings to all jazz friends everywhere.

One of my favourite songs... Just beautiful! And the clarinetist even looks a bit like Benny Goodman. 😅 It should be mentioned that Benny often played this song with Teddy Wilson on piano. Check their live recordings! The pianist here makes a good rendition of Teddy's style!

What more could I ask for than listening to this beautiful music on a rainy day in Hobart. xxxxxxxxx

Michael Andrew "Peanuts" Hucko, a superb musician, in his own right, as well as a kind gentleman.
