I would PAY for more of these from you. Your editing and presentation style is fantastic for teaching. The way you highlighted how much KI each evasion took per stance? Chef kiss.
yea, it can be very difficult to follow with the amount of info needed to learn about the gameplay so a text was a proper method for this kind of tutorial.
I think i can enjoy the game knowing at least half of it - but i still want to be better and with this i know what else i can improve - most informative and helpful guide among others
1st. Thank you. 2nd. I am practicing a lot but its difficult to pull of so many techniques which shows how skillful you are and how much time you may have spent training 3. I finished this game twice but now I feel, I havent even scratched the surface. Again thanks for this video
I suggest starting with stance switch and ki pulse to get used with the basis, then move to flux techniques when you are getting comfortable with core mechanics. What I am showing here are info to understand how to effectively use those techniques. Depending how you put yourself into challenge learning them, this guide its like a shortcut instead of spending your time discovering them for past 3 years.
Wow, just wow. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. It is hands down the best explanation of the fundamental structure of combat in the Nioh series ive ever come across. I sent an email to the developers asking them to incorporate your in depth explanations of the game mechanics formally into the dojo. I cant believe how much information you managed to convey here. I am being 100 percent serious when i say this video should be watched with a notebook and pencils in hand. Well done! Thank you so so much.
You can first learn whats essential to the gameplay like stance switching and flux ll since they can bring greater result to your performance. Once you are comfortable with it, you can move on to other techniques and digest one at a time!
Somehow never came across this till now.... Thanks YT. I did know some of the things in here but there is a lot I didn't know. Thanks for making this, you are a legend lol.
Appreciate your efforts.. I watched in your chanale many previous Nioh videoos and since that I knew you're "MASTER" Thanks for sharing these advanced skills
The Evasive cancel is the most trickiest to master. For some reason Team Ninja decided not to have the cancel R1-0 figure be highlighted on the stance wheel 🤷♂️ They highlighted on Nioh 1 when used. It always feels as if it isnt working now or is that just me 🤣
Great job if you could add your voice it would be way better imo I dont understand why you only have 3k subs you deserve way more if you are pumping out videos like this
Ive been using MID stance exclusively. Beaten the whole game lol. Low stance dodges are so fast it usually catches me off guard as I dodge too quickly lol. High stance I only use when I see big opening or I know I can kill the enemy before they kill me
You referenced my burst counter guide. Maybe I should delete beef videos...maybe :) EDIT: But you called it a Poofy Guide...I'm gonna add another beef guide >:o
When you are doing the dodge cancel race is it the same effect to just hold block L1 and spam dodge I've been trying this but adding R1 +O does not seem to speed it up in anyway? Might be as simple as press block and spam x. R1 + O + L1 does seem to work for ki pulse dodges to shorten the animation. Maybe I am doing I wrong?
I'm curious, have you ever looked into or tried out customizing the control configuration? That is, changing the hotkeys. Personally, the default weapon switch control, for example, is rather annoying to me, but considering so many controls/skills depend on a certain configuration ( R1+X,◻, or ∆ for stance switching with Flux, for example) I can't really think of a better layout to use. Well, if I still had an xbox elite controller (containing extra buttons/paddles), it'd be pretty simple to use a more comfortable setup for some of the controls, but don't have it anymore. Curious of your thoughts on this.
I did, but I chose to deal with the defaut control instead. if you really have to, you can customize your weapon switch input to a different input. Some players that I know put on left directional pad to switch weapon since its nioh 1 previous input. Personally, it can be uncomfortable the first time trying to get the hang of it, but you will get used to it as you keep practicing it. In my experience, the defaut control has been the main layout to use in order to play the game properly, and also where you get to try out most tech discovered here (especially with a controller). Still, it is all preference. Maybe you will be able to perform better in a different layout like how pc players handles it with a keyboard.
@@LasttoLoad Yeah I hear you and i'm thinking the same thing. It does appear the devs have it set at the most optimal layout already (including the other available presets that have just minor changes for anyone's preference variations). I'm actually on PC myself, but IMO, this is definitely a controller game, for me at least. Thanks for the response tho! Just thought i'd see what ur thoughts were.
You can try to see which buttons are for stance switching, ki pulse, dodge and sheathing weapon for instance. Then, try to reproduce similar input than what it is shown here, but with keyboard\mouse.
nice video. is it possible to share what the buttons on your controller are mapped to? i use a different config so in some of these sections i cant really understand which button im supposed to press
sorry but can you explain the button inputs for evasion cancelling dash attack in high stance at 25:30? I tried slowing it down but I'm genuinely really confused at the timing and input sequence, because it looks like you're shifting into low stance during the high stance dash attack, idk what im doing lol
yea this is pretty much an advanced technique to learn after learning ec with low/mid stance. I did infact switch to low stance while doing a high stance dash attack animation so this is how im usually doing: >High stance dash attack >Switch to low stance while doing high stance dash attack >Dodge with low stance >EC to High stance (which it is R1+sheath weapon+High stance >Hold dodge to buffer running >High stance dash Attack >Repeat Importantly, you will need to learn how to press your inputs in a proper rhythm in order to get the hang of it so practicing it consistently is the way to go until you gets it.
how do you expect people to switch stances prior to a key pulse? the first button of TWO in a stance change is R1, which triggers a key pulse, as you press the buttons to switch you have alreayd pressed the ki pulse button?
When triggering Ki pulse, you hold it briefly and go from your initial stance to another stance to stance change (which will trigger flux, flux ll if you change stance twice during ki pulse).
Stance that you are in doesnt affect Skill dmg. Only thing that can increase skill dmg is the dmg increase with specific stance in your weapon stat and clan buff (also with one indirect exception like High stance buff that you gain from perfect Ki pulse).
I'm so bad at switching stances it gets me killed. I'm halfway through the underworld sitting on a single stance so its not required but god damn I'm missing out.
I have a question about preshifting. As far as I can tell, preshifting should be able to give you access to combos that you wouldn't have access to otherwise. In practice this doesn't seem to be working for me. Let's make the assumption I have Heaven Flash (sword). To me it seems like I should be able to do a light attack in high stance preshift into low and do Heaven Flash. I can't seem to get this to work. Is my timing bad, or will the game not allow it?
Unfortunately, not all weapon can do that so Heaven Flash in particular does not work with prestance switch. There are only but a few exceptions like Splitstaff (Fill the Void) for Low\Mid Stance and Fist (Knifehand Strike) for all stances.
While practicing the Mobile Sheathing Attack I noticed that it's pretty hard to predict where the character will be facing with lock on. Would you recommend turning it off when pulling off this technique?
No, I wouldnt suggest doing it. That will be another extra input to go for mobile sheathing attack and you wont enjoy it. You may have to perform sheathing attack only when you are going forward (for an easier experience temporary).
Do all these techniques still work or have some of them been patched? I am having trouble with the dash attacks but maybe my fingers are not fast enough.
i wish i could play like this I've tried (500 hours in this game) but i am jus tbvetter at slow methodical play. I feel like the dojo is too easy to do this and the main missions too hard.
The development staff are pretty aware of this stuff despite it being unintended and they provide balance patches which take it into consideration. Any game with competitive elements is going to have its boundaries pushed and its not a bad thinh at all.
By your logic, jump cancelling in Devil May Cry games is a bug too? Right? Dude, games with such deep combat, always have this kind stuff. Why the FUCK is it *sad* ? It's amazing, since people creatively use the combat system in such ways no one could imagine! And developers know that. That's why they are not fixing any of these things )))
This is hilarious. Why are you filmed it? This game is easy then DS. “Advanced” lvl pretty funny. The gameplay of nioh 2 imbalanced because of fists, when the player will understand how to spam onmyo n ninjutsu the normal gameplay will vanish.
The video is made for those who want to focus on the gameplay itself. In fact, the gameplay is one of the main aspect that has been highly praised from most media and reviews, and this video targets any players who are willing to explore that aspect. Nioh 2 was always easy depending how you manipulate its difficulty. Either you overwhelm the difficulty with overpowered gear\tactic\cheese or call for help from visitor to assist you in your playthrough. Whatever method you try to beat the game is all based to your goal like how you want to beat the game or grab some achievement. Whatever satisfies you the most is why you are playing Nioh.
I don't play anywhere near The amount of time it takes to learn all of this shit. Definitely hate when games require you to learn all this intricate shit in order to be decent
Nothing forces you to learn everything to be decent. The video mostly shows most gameplay experience that you can do in this game. Of course, its dedicated to those who are willing to learn how to technically play the game than focusing on the rpg aspect.
You can beat the game with only one stance and ki pulse only if you know how to beat every boss, but you are definitely missing out valuable feature that can help you go throught the game.
@@hermanortez982 lol just keep assuming how people live, what a sad person, and i know even employee/employer need to learn new things, are you really employed bro? That why I suggest u to play hack and slash since u don't want waste time learning techniques, what a smartass.
@@connorericson Pressing those input individually is harder to perform evasion cancel. Instead, I recommend sliding your thumb in between X and O (while holding R1 during dodge). If you are sheathing your weapon on the spot, then you successfully evasion cancel. That would be the first step to know how evasion cancel work. Next phase is to know how to perform evasion cancel in quick succession. Timing is important to do it consecutively (which its why I still recommend to slide your thumb for this tech). It is not recommended to do it too fast either since you can disrupt the timing for it. You have to follow the rhythm depending to your character speed until you get it right. At that point, you will need to learn how to use your thumb as well as your finger to press those input properly. *Holding Block is needed to Evasion cancel in quick succession Practice!

I tried slowing it down but I'm genuinely really confused at the timing and input sequence, because it looks like you're shifting into low stance during the high stance dash attack, idk what im doing lol
yea this is pretty much an advanced technique to learn after learning ec with low/mid stance.

It is sad that half of these skills are just bagusing method and game allow you to do this. This is really sad.
The development staff are pretty aware of this stuff despite it being unintended and they provide balance patches which take it into consideration. Any game with competitive elements is going to have its boundaries pushed and its not a bad thinh at all.
How is this sad? Lmao it’s a single player game dude chill, there’s no competitive pvp
This is amazing not sad
Lol, go play hack and slash then
@@dexter5445 I'm not an unemployed virgin living in my parent's basement playing games all day. Can't spend 6 hours a day learning technique. Lol
@@hermanortez982 lol just keep assuming how people live, what a sad person, and i know even employee/employer need to learn new things, are you really employed bro? That why I suggest u to play hack and slash since u don't want waste time learning techniques, what a smartass.
How do you use the evasion cancel so fast
practice!
@@LasttoLoad What I mean is do you slide your thumb over to the 0 or tap the buttons each time, like x then 0 after r1? Or slide, or hover over both
@@connorericson Pressing those input individually is harder to perform evasion cancel.
*Holding Block is needed to Evasion cancel in quick succession
Practice!
@@LasttoLoad Thanks for the info! I found your videos a while ago and just got Nioh 2 and this is the first place I went and loving the tips and tricks!
