I got stung by both MAAS and GCI this month. Like the guy said... I'm done with crowdfunding and the like.
The guy has had too many instances of business going sideways in his past to just dismiss this as "we don't really know what happened and what the story is, hopefully they can refund and come back in the future," because WE DO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! Spen5e took the money and pissed it up some wall or another. Again! People lost significant sums and it's unlikely to be put right. So no, I hope the Community takes note this time and He in particular NEVER gets to do this again.
I like this, I would definitely watch more of these kind of episodes!
Robert Detolf in the tinfoil stole the show. The tinfoil must have been reflecting light somehow because his dark dungeon of a toy room seemed much brighter.......
There is no dark side of the dungeon.....as a matter of fact, it's all dark....

Is WFC: Siege not high quality for you? They're the best Generations line I've seen in ages, and even better than the mostly-great Prime Wars trilogy.

They're still nowhere close to the high quality look of the Masterpiece-style figures he collects.
I looked at the dry brushed foam and I swear it looked like they took a picture of a road.
Tf bb toys did really well and In gaming, the Transformers card game is knocking it out of the park.

@@8474Starscream maybe in the first two movies, he was too lean, yes. But once he started taking steroids, he beefed up a ton and was built like a legit super hero. I will agree that he was too tall for Wolverine, but it's never been all that noticeable when you're into the film.

Inferno was one of my favorite story arcs .....also loved when Rachel came back from the future and Nimrod was chasing. The 🎥 got Apocalypse all wrong. Would love to see a Mr. Sinister / Maruader X-Men movie

MAAS... I liked the openness in their dialogue with the fandom. It was in stark contrast to the lack of communication from many other 3Ps - often the ones at the top - which comes off as arrogant. Maybe if you're at the top of the game, you don't need to work too hard keeping your fans informed but that doesn't make it any better of an attitude. MAAS did interact, did respond to questions about their upcoming products on social media - even where that answer was not what the fan wanted to hear and, therefore, confirmed that the product was not for them.
That's where the good ends, really, though. They had one release. I didn't like the design but those that bought it seemed to like it. Stack didn't happen despite being announced ages ago. The G2 Axelerator designs they announced they'd bought from Fansproject didn't happen. Their Megatron throne is the only preorder I've ever cancelled (following the announcement of use of rotocast - rotocast can be a shrewd choice of material in the right circumstances but is not the level of quality required for a £40 MP chair) and it didn't happen...
The big question, for me, is how their failure will impact crowdfunding. They've left a lot of people out of pocket so will the fandom as a whole avoiding wanting to be burned, again? In the past, I have drawn a distinction between two kinds of crowdfund. In the case of Maketoys' Sunstorm, the crowdfund amounts to a made-to-order, uncancellable preorder - it gives the 3P the certainty necessary to go ahead with a minority character they otherwise wouldn't. As a repaint, such a crowdfund is unlikely to fail, I think fans will continue to support similar crowdfunds and I think, if they fail, fans should get their money back as they shouldn't have needed to spend it. MAAS' preorder was a different kettle of fish - they were looking to make a completely new mould, needing them to spend the crowdfunding money up-front and meaning the money may no longer exist with which to reimburse backers. I really sympathise with those out of pocket but, unfortunately, it is probably the risk you take with this kind of crowdfund. I worry that fans will not support similar ventures and that that will stifle new 3Ps from getting off the ground.
Maybe the solution should have been to ask fans for a more modest contribution to get just Starscream and then, once the mould clearly exists and the capacity to deliver is clearly proven, open up crowdfunds for Skywarp and Thundercracker...
So was that before or after Kronos took a shelf dive? Maybe it just couldn't handle that much style.

I don't mind parts-forming if they're integrated SOMEWHERE. I don't want it to be sitting off to the side looking crazy if I decide to place my bot's in a different mode.
Also what's the point of having individual bots if you're just gonna cover the heck out of them in combiner mode. Companies might as well make the figures with out combiner modes and sell the combiner on it's own 🤷🏽♂️
Get what you mean but at least with menasor would seem impossible to do without some aspects of that
I wonder what this means for other kickstarter projects like maketoys. If people are going to be more leery now of those we might not get some of these obscure projects like the maketoys sunstorm. It's unfortunate all around.

Another great episode. First and foremost MAAAAAAN that tie is really bugging one of my ticks. But it was always a real shame about MAAS Toys, it was just too bad that they weren't able to regain their footing after having issues with the factory. Such is life and business, it can really suck at times. Also I hope Robert doesn't go outside with that thing on, he going to fry his potato otherwise.

I generally dislike the way Detolfs are used by large swaths of the collecting community. I'm seen numerous images where collectors have crammed high single digit or double digit pieces into the same shelf. This looks sloppy forward-facing and even worse from the side if the collector has multiple Detolfs next to each other. Then you have the problem of negative space if the pieces don't fit well in individual shelves (this is true of all shelves). I like what you did with your Detolfs, using a few accurately sized pieces, and other collectors who use them should take note.
XTB Menasor is all fake parts? Im all limbs in already. Oh well. More a fan of the team anyways. Hope Motor Master looks as good as the rest.

Luckily I didn't get burned by Maas b/c I didn't buy in but I did get burned by GCI and of course we all know how that is ending with Will going completely dark and piling more lies on lies.
I heard BBTS sold out all their stuff because of there shady dealings. I will miss them because of there fan support. BUT they have been super shady about everything the last few months.
