Cute kid. Especially when he was drilling into the back of your head. : ) I'm not totally sure about painting the fenders. I'm not a fan of flat black in general, but the bike looks way better now than it did before. Seat, handlebars and tank realignment made a huge difference. And yes, you're correct, some of us do appreciate a big rack.
My first vehicle was a Honda CM185 Twinstar. I was 17 years old in 1980 and took several 1,000 mile trips on it over the years. I would stop every 75 to 100 miles and let it rest awhile, while I checked the oil and camchain tensioner, etc... It was such an amazing little bike, I wish I still had it. I built a plywood luggage box on the back of it, upholstered with vinyl. Also had a windshield on it. The windshield was level with the top of my head. I could draft behind semis on the freeway, without even getting close to them, cruising down the freeway at 60 mph. Now I ride a 25th anniversary year 2000, 1500 Goldwing with a trailer behind it. Your videos have got me reminiscing about some really fun times as a silly kid who didn't know better at the time. Times were different back then. Thank you for the hard work you do on making your videos. You are truly amazing!! And sorry about deleting and reposting my other comment. I was on the wrong account.
I like it for what it is and I think you've made it look great. It looks FAR better than most of the modified bikes you see out there (for instance -- 99% of the "cafe" racers).
I like the esthetics better. Not a fan of the black fenders though. I was happy to see you do the work. Not doing the changes would have been disappointing. Keep those projects going! Love this 👍🏻
A really nice trick for chrome, use an SOS Pad. Get it really wet and foamy. It will actually feel slimy when it's ready to use on your chrome. Wet the chrome down really thoroughly and then rub it real lightly with the SOS Pad. ( no pressure ) And keep it wet and soapy. ( but don't use so much water that it just becomes steel wool ). I learned this trick over 40 years ago and have used it on my bike chrome ever since. It excellent for removing road tar, burned oil, and even the coke that spilled over my exhaust pipes and turned purple. Polished right up. It also works on glass for removing stubborn bugs and rubber cement, etc... Important part is to keep it wet and worked to a slimy lather. You may think I'm pulling your leg. But it really does work amazingly!!!
I might be picking up an 81 soon, so here I am. Not a big fan of chrome fenders but if they clean up nice, I usually leave them there. If they're beat up, then yeah, I'll paint them. On yours, I think shiny black, with the same paint on tank, might look good. As they are, something doesn't go together...Good job though... My tank will get the same treatment as yours. Thanks for showing us that.
I've told you about my early 70s chopped 350cl, that I really budget tricked out and everyone loved it. I can't remember how the chop was done it was so long ago, but it was tastefully chopped. Just an idea next time you're redesigning a classic.
man what a change.. i wonder if the gas tank was lower because of petcocks for gas? You sell that easily for a intercity delivery driver … looks great! I need to go check that line you mentioned on my bike.. i’s say drop forks down a bit..
Wait till you see the update video. It gets a pair of XS650 rear shocks. Lifts the back end about an inch and they are beefier. On your bike you can flip the for ears from one side to the other to drop the headlight down.
I always tear the whole bike down to bare frame, clean degrease n paint the frame and put back every piece clean n paint or polish as I go. I’ve actually done a XS650 once like that in a week. Only cost spray paint, SOS pads, degreaser 😃
nice upgrades! I didn't know you could paint a chrome fender..will the paint stick to it long term? I'm enjoying the channel and have subscribed. You should have a lot more than only 1430 subs!
I hope so. I scuffed it up with some scotch bright. So hopefully it holds on for me. Thanks for subscribing and your kind words. We are just a little over a year into this channel and having a good time.

I am not a fan of the flat black either. I made a bad decision fixing his drill. My favorite was when he put on the safety goggles.

You’re a wild man. Taking a 185t on the highway. The crazy thing is this one had highway pegs on it. This was a fun project. Thanks for watching.
Oh hell yaaassss! Now we are talking! Dude we are on the same page. Those bars are the icing on the cake. 🎂
Ps I like a big rack also. 😜
This was such a fun project. Did it with stuff I had laying around.
I like it for what it is and I think you've made it look great. It looks FAR better than most of the modified bikes you see out there (for instance -- 99% of the "cafe" racers).
Thanks. It has been a lot of fun doing it. Can’t wait to ride it to go get pizza!!!

You never know what he is gonna say or do!!! Foreshadowing. 😂
I had a CM200 back in 1987 not fast but a cool little bike to ride about town...
This is a fun little bike. Hopefully,🤞I am doing the memories of yours justice.
@@motorcyclerewind Go for it, we don't see the CM200 much in England I don't think it was a big seller back in the day..
Nicely done, it looks soo much better.
It was fun Thanks for watching.
I like all old Hondas up to mid 80’s 😊
Me too! I Really like most bikes from that time period. Thanks for watching
Nice, it's looking like a Brittish classic now. Your workshop assistant shows good promise.
Fixing his drill ahas prove. To be a bad decision.
Nice job, great content.............
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching

I am not a fan of black fenders either. These got painted because of the rust.

@@motorcyclerewind as am I can’t wait for the update
It's looking great, love the enthusiasm!
Definitely an upgrade. I am definitely a cup half full kind of guy. Thanks for watching.
Dido on the enthusiasm!
Love the changes. Do you have a video on how you made the mold for the seat pan?
I used the seat foam as my mold. Just strengthened up the sides with masking tape and wrapped it with plastic wrap.

That’s awesome I have been using Eastwood Chassis Black to paint frames. It lays down really flat and super hard. Thanks for watching.

just asking. What would you do differently. I love hearing other people’s ideas.
I really can't think of anything. Looks good and very ride able.
As someone who loves pizza, I'm good with it hahahaha
Once we get the tires on. It’s going to get pizza 🍕
@@motorcyclerewind sounds like a plan hahaha
