    CM200, CM185 were fun little bikes especially for us not so tall riders. Ideal for in town errands or whatever. And even at highway speeds, the bikes were nimble. I still own one for fun

    My very first motorcycle was a blue 1983 Twinstar. What a fun little bike that was!! I never did any Interstate riding, but it would certainly keep up with 55 mph traffic on state and US highways, with just enough torque left to help me escapte trouble situations. I was only 120 lbs, all those years ago, and not much of a burden for the bike to haul.

      They are great little bikes.

    You scored good I just got a 1979 185, Never thought , It turned out to be a 6 volt, Very hard to get a good 6 volt battery, You got the first year of 12 volt, Congradulations, Don;t even get a 1980 because it will be a 6 volt

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I buy 6 volt batteries from Home Depot. I use alarm batteries. They’re super cheap and available.
      Thanks for watching.

    I have a 1981 Twinstar as well! The hardest part to find is the tank lid. Even if you do find it, it'll be partial or in rough shape. Whether you keep or sell, I'd rattle can the tank to protect it (because the tanks in good condition are worth a ton). You can find almost everything else for this bike but a replacement tank because of the location of the ignition coil. The cutout on the center channel for the coil makes it a pain to find a replacement.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the tank lid have it off because I couldn’t get it to latch. So I just pulled it off. I will sort that out later. Thanks for watching.

    I'm glad you put the headlight back on before going out on the street. Id re-cover that seat, even if you just use black duct tape...so the foam isn't exposed to the elements. Or use that stretchy vinyl that has a sticky side.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A cover for it is pretty cheap. The good thing about the exposed foam is that it dissipates heat so no, hot seat on sunny day.

    I vote just bob the fender, slap on a simple pan seat without springs, small headlight, and cool taillight. Cheap bobber for like $500 or less

    I've got one picked up for 400, one cylinder only has 35 psi. I'm hoping cleaning up the valves and setting the valve lash will bring that back up...

    I got a question. I recently had got myself a 1979 Honda twinstar CM185T🎉. I was wondering where you had gotten the switch for the bike for ignition and where I might be able to get tires for it as well:)

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I got my ignition switch from Amazon amzn.to/3uPUCYE.
      Tires are easy. Check your current tires for the size for both front and rear and google it. You are going to need tubes also. Send me an email motorcyclerewind@gmail.com if you need some more help.

      @@motorcyclerewind Awesome! thank you so much. I get my paycheck in a couple days, I’ll order it and let you know how it goes. When I try the kickstart it has a little rumble and my spark plugs look brand new if you want I can send you a photo or video of the bikes condition I’m not an expert so it’d be nice to have a better eye lol

      I think I am going to build it with pieces and parts we already have here with the exception for tires and any fab work. I was in the attic the other day looking for possibilities and found something that needs to be on this Twinstar. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned.
