I’ve read some of the comments people wrote and see that I’m in the company of many who have been helped by you during the pandemic. Your way of talking has so much warmth and kindness and it so comes through in your music. I literally always listen to you when I have trouble with motivation and your music makes me open up my violin case. You have a gift of directly touching people’s heart. Thank you very much.

What an extraordinary individual you are, Augustin! Your disarming honesty, in the mist of this pandemic, is as much an inspiration as your sublime violin playing. You have set the standard for what we all should do during this time, sharing your enormous gifts with the world. You have made the world a better place, thank you maestro.

Thanks for your work Augustin. You motivated me to return to the Bach solo suites after a 30 year break. I had forgotten just how much deeper the experience is when playing Bach yourself than when listening to others, no matter how beautifully played.

I don't even play the violin, but these Ask Augustin videos have kept me sane during quarantine; you have such a calming presence that listening to you talk about violin techniques I will never use in this lifetime is good for my soul. :D Thank you for these videos, and thank you for posting so many amazing performance videos as well! You're an extraordinary violinist, and we're extraordinarily lucky that you're so generous with your time and music.

I’m in my 40s and I still make sure I keep practicing to make sure my piano teacher isn’t disappointed in me! I also play just for the love of music and I enjoy the feeling of improving. I’m currently trying to teach myself the Bach double violin concerto to play with a colleague at work just for the fun of it.

As someone who started violin as an adult only a couple of years ago, I find outside motivation a little difficult to get sometimes, and your videos have been a huge motivation for me! I'm sure they've been so for many others as well, and it's nice to know that the motivation goes both ways.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your playing with us, even giving us our own little project (Florence Price), and for keeping us company during this very strange year!

All the videos over the last few months were great even this one to. Motivation is indeed important but can be very illusive in todays times but indeed we must remain encouraged as after every storm there a calm, light at the end of this very, very long tunnel.

Thank you Augustin! You have been a tremendous source of motivation for myself and countless other musicians to continue making music even in the face of such uncertainty in the world. It's inspiring, in a way, to know that even a violinist of your caliber struggles with motivation, and I appreciate your openness with these struggles. You've become one of my favorite violinists over the last nine months, and I'm looking forward to hearing even more from you!

Your ask Augustin videos always feel thorough and true... What you say about motivation makes sense to me, much more than some "motivational" speeches which try to be all "positive" and end up sounding empty (at least to me -those speeches can help some people too and are certainly well-meant).
I am touched to know that we as an audience can give you a little in return -because you give us so much -through your performances as well as your Ask Augustin masterclasses...
Thank you for all your dedication (I guess making videos requires a lot of time and hard work -on top of practicing)...
I hope you and yours stay well.

For me you really hit the spot with this one. I feel pretty much the same. Luckily, most our quartet's concerts were postponed rather than canceled. And we also had the lucky chance to do few on-line concerts. But still, this strange time sucks out energy and sence of joy like a vacuum cleaner. Weird... All the best to you, hopefully, times will ease off soon.

You’re like my musical big brother at this point - I’ve been looking for content like this relating to technique, and after going through so many of your videos and trying things, this video was the cherry on top! I was literally just thinking about this topic today. Wild! Thanks so so much, Augustine! It’s so important we as musicians really continue to pass the torch. This is one of my motivations. You do this so freely, so kindly and so gently!

Thank you for making your how-to-play videos, but of course also the performance@home videos. While it is unfortunate that so many concerts have been and still are being cancelled, especially your howto videos have reached an audience that otherwise would never have had the chance to listen to your insights on the various aspects of playing. Your videos made a questionable year a lot better for me, thank you so much. Happy holidays and a peaceful & healthy new year to you and your family!

Hey Augustin--Been a while, hope you are happy. Finally, by me, opened up the symphony...but with so many restrictions, only about 1/8 full at most (Houston). No intermission, no food/drinks, no seating in front orchestra section. Most artists definitely playing for the love of the music, certainly not the money (what tickets they have are discounted like 75%). In 2 weeks Midori is coming to play the Beethoven concerto--rumor is she continues to practice up to 12 hours a day...a little crazy given her level, IMO, but like you put so well here, whatever gets one through. Looking forward to when "real" concerts are back and can watch you (and others) on something other than a live stream. Thank you so much for what you do and keep on jamming--many really appreciate your efforts!!!
