I never noticed that Anakin’s armor during the clone wars was reminiscent of Darth Vader’s armor. The shoulder/chest piece over the tunic is almost exactly the same.
thatasianguy99 At least the first armour, because at the later and final stages of the war, he swapped it in favor of a typical jedi ropes, just black instead of brown.

Joe Mallard they did, it does, that doesn't change the fact that, if I remember correctly, the person who *created* thrawn, Timothy zhan, is writing this book aswell.
I've lost a lot of faith in Disney, but Dave Filoni and Timothy Zahn haven't disappointed yet. The timeframe of this book should also offer a lot of creative freedom as we know almost nothing about that region of space.
Anakins character was perfectly created with the most battle hardened lightsaber with ultimate skill , my personal favourite of them all, cannot wait for the Vader fan series going to be incredible !!

First things first: Thrawn looks sick and badass in this uniform.
On the excerpt itself: Zahn did an exceptional job in this first meeting, getting the two characters involved perfectly.
Regarding the mission: I assume Padme went to meet with some Separatists in a secret (and unsanctioned) diplomatic mission to then go MIA. To avoid being labeled as a Separatist herself she informed Anakin about the complications and he rushed to the rescue.

I actually squealed when I saw this. I’m a little mortified about that but Anakin/Vader and Thrawn are my absolute favorite characters so to hell with it. These two people interacting has been my ultimate fangirl dream since I first read the Thrawn trilogy. It’s actually kind of nice to know that Star Wars can still make me this happy despite the trauma of TFA and TLJ.
I wish Disney made a Clone Wars/Rebels like loose animated adaption of this novel or even some of the EU's better stories like Outbound Flight and the Thrawn Trilogy. It's not like a TV series based on books is unprecedented.
If done as well as Clone Wars/Rebels, it would redeem Disney-era Star Wars for me.
MrDrProfessor4 Hmm, I don't think the old Thrawn trilogy would make sense anymore (didn't read outbound flight so I can't judge). Zahn is now making new Thrawn books though, and in the rebels series they got rid of him in a good way as they can bring them back when they want (after return of the jedi) so he might get more books in that time period as well, with some changes. The new books are still good and some elements from the old EU ones were a bit too weird for me.

Like in any adaption, appropriate changes would have to be made. Take the MCU movies for example. Instead of mirroring the comics, they cherry pick the better arcs and make a slightly different story inspired by them.
A post-Endor series focusing on the original trilogy cast as sort of a counterpart to The Clone Wars could work. There's a lot of good EU stories to cherry pick, and the old characters already have new assigned voice actors. No way Disney would ever consider it though.
Darth Bane or Freedon Nadd era would be nice. No direct connection to the Luke Skywalker era.

Star wars theory has the best narration quality out of any other star wars channel. Even if i find a star wars theory video by someone else, it just makes me wish this channel would cover it because i cant stand any of the other channel's awful narration

This isn’t the first time we saw Hayden’s Anakin in CW attire, it was also on one of the action figure’s cardbacks back in 2012. They also had season 3 Ashoka, and Obi Wan.
Does anybody consider Disney Canon head canon? I don't. I mean Exar Kun's canon, but I like the legends Exar Kun better, it explains more. But anyways, I already knew Anakin met Thrawn, but does Thrawn know who Anakin is?
