In today’s tutorial we are making a beautiful macrame plant hanger. This is an easy beginner pattern, and takes about 30-45 minutes to make.

The pot I used for the photos, is 10 inches wide. This planthanger could easily fit a larger pot, or nicely for a smaller one as well.
MEASURES: 42in/105cm in length.
Here is what I used:
- 4mm, 3 ply rope from Ganxxet
- 8 x15feet/4.6m
- 2 x 3feet/90cm
- 2in/5cm wooden ring

This is by far my favourite hanging planter to make! I can’t even tell you how many I have made now and even our local greengrocer is using them for the plants she sells! So satisfying to make.

I know this is an older video but i have to say I love the way you explain and really show doing the knot. I have watched so many that show you the knot slow then speed it up so you constantly have to take back to the beginning to learn the knot. THANK YOU!
I was struck by this plant hanger because so many I own have too many ropes and intricacies which interfere with my plants' growth or watering. Love this design, it's so clean and lovely.

Great tutorial. I was born in '76, and I remember being a toddler and my mom having plants in macrame hangers that had brown, orange, and yellow ropes. Totally 70's colors. Fond first memories of getting underneath the hanging plants that were held up by them.

Macrame was big in the 70s my mother had a Macrame and glass table. She had it made for her I remember it was always in the front room window. I love that it's making a comeback.

Such a pretty design! Directions are clear, concise, and really easy to replicate. Was looking for a macrame design, that would be strong enough to hold a large succulent jar I planted last year. This one worked beautifully!

Thank you ever so much for this fabulous tutorial. Just finished making my first plant hanger and I am sooooo chuffed with it! I shortened mine by only tying 25 alternating half hitch knots to begin with so that it would hang at the correct height in my window with a cascading plant and the pattern still works perfectly! Just finish making this, I kept losing track of my knots so it's a bit twisty but overall it looks great. This is my first time doing macrame ever, great tutorial 👍

If you like a spiral pattern, do your "4"'s in the same direction. For a flat patern, alternate. 💟

I am dyslectic and your first one out of all the ones I have watched that I have understood.you have shown details others dont explained it properly thank you from bottom of my heart I have looked and asked where I can buy this macram materials and no reply I live in scotland sadly no ones heard of macram but my grandmother had this pot holder I never knew it was macram.i had it later loved it then my daughter wanted it as noone had one like this I asked her if I could have it back.oh I got rid of it was her selfish reply.she knew I didnt realy want to part from it.just gave it as she was just starting out.i would have had respect and asked my mum if she would like it returned not get rid.but hey now I hopefully if I can buy rope some where make this to be pride of place once again hanging from brass hook still in ceiling.thank you

This is such a nice looking hanger :) and probably easier to water plants through than some other hangers. I am wondering if I only have 3mm rope will I need more/less and will it look very different do you think? Also, when you say this could fit a larger pot, would I have to start with much longer cord?
