    Erica,
The thing with old school fragrances like Obsession is they are all about the dry down. You have to give it an hour or two to really get the hype around it. After an hour or so the earthy/animalic aspects fade except for the patchouli and you get a nice ambery/vanilla patchouli incense type smell. The modern formula definitely isn't as good as the old one. The main thing I notice is the modern formula doesn't transition as smoothly, thus you get that pissy thing after the immediate opening blast, but the dry down is still amazing. I get compliments from women of all ages.

Interesting, this doesn’t sound like the current formulation at all, which is quite light and airy despite its kinda sweet, cinnamon spiciness. There isn’t a hint of civet in it either, just a very inoffensive but still unique, cinnamon-forward fragrance.

I wasn’t around to smell CK Obsession in the 80s or 90s but smelling it now on an outdoorsy guy 32 year in flannel or a sweater and it smells pretty great. He sprays it though, he doesn’t pour it out of a bottle. Definitely no “pissy” animalic smell, just woody spicy and cozy.

You have to grow up to get to appreciate this kind of fragrances . And you need some style wich you obviously don' t have yet . There is a reason for wich this is still produced and on the market after 35 years . Because it' s good and men are wearing it . And there are no such perfumes like "dad smell " or "grandpa smell " or my " old teacher smell ". It' s like good music . If it' s good will remain in history . There are perfumes still in prodsuction , created in the 18 th 19 th century , from the 30' s 40 s 50' s etc . But as I said grow up , get stylish an then review them . Till then stick to Baccarat Rouge , Sauvage and other stuff like that

    Also, things change.
If there are people around 30 years from now i wouldn’t be surprised if their twenty somethings laughed about the weirdly hairless, sweet smelling guys of today.

Srijtb: Nice collection :) In my teens the ones you mentioned were very popular. If your interested in that era I'd say look to Polo Green, Alfred Sung Homme (like Irish spring soap) and Eternity, Oscar de la Renta Pour Loui. You mentioned Tabac original, I really like that scent it reminds me of Old Spice with a touch of florals and just more refined. That sent started me on a journey going WAY back since it was released in 1959. So I bought Caron Pour Homme which was released in the 1930's vanilla and lavender and my favorite summer scent Dior Eau Sauvage (1966). Just recently picked up a cheapy of Veron Dandy originally released in 1923. Good luck on your journey.

never test fragrances on paper unless you don't have choice.
never judge a fragrance by sniffing it out of your hand, but give it a full wearing during a day and smell its transformation in the air during the day and in different environement.
never say a fragrance is unwearbale like you said for kouros, before giving it a full wear, maybe you don't like it but it's still liked by a lot of guys including me.
take your time and enjoy things slowly.
thanks fot this video anyway and don't take my comment negatively it's just my opinion ;)

You have no ideal of how seductive this fragrance was in the 1980's. It was called a cologne back then and extremely powerful. If you hugged a woman, all her clothes would still smell of Obsession the next day - hence the name of the fragrance! Men's fragrances were sold in splash and atomizer bottles during those days. I would buy the splash bottles because you would get more ml's for less dough. If my memory serves me correctly, I used to save this for dates and it usually was best on a cold night when I was wearing a pullover sweater with a dress shirt combo.
Try the women's edp version. It's a powerhouse and close to the men's version of yesteryear! Since this was the fragrance that put Calvin Klein on the map, I'm surprised they don't update it and go the edp, parfum, elixir route with it.

Guys, this lady knows nothing about perfume. First impression is not a good way to review perfume! First RULE of Obsession is DON'T OVERSPRAY it!
Obsession is a strong, hot, romantic, sexy and unique perfume for a masculine, sofisticated, sensual, stylish, engaging and mature person!
Of course, it's not for a teenage taste savage/rude, but for a sucessfull, misterious, polite man!
Due to it's strenght and wood and vanilla essences, it is for cold days, preference at night. It's ageless!
It's NOT an ordinary everyday perfume for casual teenagers. It is the opposite of it!
I definetly recommend for 30+ years old, for "formal" situations as a wedding, a lecture, a conference, an exclusive happy hour bar or in a cold night first date in an expensive restaurant.
You will receive compliments by a wide age range.
Obs: when you try it, never overspray and wait 1-2 minute to feel effortless all the bouquet mixed with your skin.

Third is Kouros, and i was very happy you had the luck to smell the vintage one, which it is said is gorgeous! The modern reformulation is not my favourite, because i think this strong civet is a little disgusting after hours, but kouros has the most amazing opening in fragrances i have ever smelt! ❤️

LOL " Granpa " it was probably at peak 30 years ago.
Grandpa reminds me of the OG Eau Savage, the clear bottle with what looked like Limacol in it .
Also Old Spice, Dunhill now that's grandad material.
Still i guess we all get the one day.
    BUT each to their own.
I can just relay how popular it was then.
Now 80% of blokes all smell of eau savage especially now Jonny got cleared of well what ever 😉.
It was massive when I was a teen in 90s maybe earlier although Im not that old 🤔.
    BIG part of my life.
As they say ," scents and 🎵" for nostalgia.
I bought some recently as these days it's pretty cheap ,UK around £28/100ml.
Although annoyingly like A LOT of classic fragrances it's been re-formulated and is half the strength but less subtle and doesn't last.
Unless you can get a 90s one its massively different.
Never seen even a sample without an atomiser.
It maybe polarising but IMHO most women loved it as most men loved the women's.
These days and BTW ive seen it all over the internet, women's Obsession Parfum is considered unisex.
Even going on 30 years since school Id still rather wear Obsession than Savage.

This is either just a really bad reviewer or poorly designed rage bait to drive engagement. Obsession might not be to your personal taste but you can describe the notes and delve into the history of a vintage fragrance without insulting the people who love it for being older than you. It's so lazy and gives basic, if you weren't done insulting Obsession and people who grew up with it, you also found time to insult Baccarat just because it's popular
People who appreciate sensitive, descriptive reviews from reviewers who are passionate about fragrance and want to learn about notes and the history of fragrances should head over to excellent channels like A Fragrant Glance or Essence-tially Dacob

Thank you for your comments about Obsession for men. Atomizer would have been easier and nicely spread (Eau de toilette). It was and is known that it was too powerful when opened. 20 to 30 minutes later there would have been a completely different (positive) reaction. Anyway, you convey the reviews nicely!

Except it's half as good as it was.
      Doesn't last.
Saw one of these wine channels er sorry fragrance channels last week and she was also about 30 but said how popular womens Obsession is with male and female.🤔
Yeah I remember that Willow Shafer did a women's Obsession review.
I'm just glad I was never a idiot and didn't pay the $250 plus they do for Ford or $300 Creed.
Personally I've known young guys in 96 wear £10 Jovan Musk .
As much as I like scents YT has turned everyone into a fragrance SNOB lol it's almost like wine.
" I'm getting lavender er No vanilla oh with an essence of wood oh actually fresh cut kitchen counter and a smell of the coffee machine at work on a Fri.
Hell if you like it wear it WGAF ???

Besides having an obnoxious personality and being unable to properly identify scents, I guarantee she wouldn't have called it a grandpa scent and trashed it if she didn't know the age.

Yeah look out for those hot grampas. 🤣 Could be a few in nursing homes you never know. 👴 Paired with latin dancing, it did manage to seduce my 2nd gf tho... 🤫 Her face buried in my chest.... mine in hers....nuff said. 😂 Granted, it was the 90s formulation which was far more dynamic than what's out there now. Not a very good reform imho. Appreciate the impressions Erica! ❤

This doesn't smell anywhere close to what it did back in the day. It smells MUCH cheaper with a hint of public toilet masked by warmed cinnamon. Absolutely gross now.

It does smell like a retirement home but it is an unique fragrance. It is longlasting, smells natural, and it has that warming cozy feeling it brings in winter time. 7/10 from me

I don't like it. This isn't nasty by any means...but it's very old school..it's very 1980s..and it's probably so strong to be a discernable scent amongst all the cigarette smoke in the 1980s. It kind of smells like grandpas. It doesn't layer well with other fragrances...and it's sort of harsh. 4/10 overall. I have a 20 yr old bottle that's almost full 😂
