    I remember camping there in the 80s and waking up then walking to the Wonderland Hotel for a huge breakfast.

    Will be visiting Elkmont for the first time this coming up July. Will be roughing it in a tent and cant wait. Thank you for the videos and showing how beautiful this campground truly is.

    • @RollinRagu
      @RollinRagu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome. It isn't hard to show the beauty. Just point the camera anywhere. Elkmont will make a fantastic place to tent camp. In addition to all of the shade, the cool river to swim in make it as good a spot as any for July in the south. Thanks for your comment, and please consider subscribing!

    Funny, Steph and I just walked this campground a few weeks ago, and it's definitely a must-try in the future. She is definitely a "full hookups" kind of camper, but even she would love to "rough it" here for a few days. Great video once again!

    • @RollinRagu
      @RollinRagu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you're going to try "roughing it", this might be the place to try! Let us know if you get reservations, we would meet you there if we could! Thanks for watching. :)

    My husband and I have been looking for some campground sites and this one looks like somewhere we would like to try! The vlog is so calming and relaxing I almost fell asleep on my computer chair. The view and the ambiance is just breathtaking. Thank you for the virtual experience! I look forward to learning more about national forest best campground sites!

    Hey I enjoyed your video of Elkmont Campground. My wife and I really like this campground, we have stayed several times. One thing that we like about this campground is in the peak months the Gatlinburg Trolley comes to a stop in the campground. You can ride into town and visit the sites in Gatlinburg, eat at a restaurant, shop, and you don’t have to worry with parking you car which can be 10. dollars. When you get ready to go back to the campground just go to one of trolley stops and catch the (correct) trolley back. There is a very nice trail that goes along the Little River that is fun also. Elkmont is very popular which makes reservations difficult at times. Keep up the good videos!

    • @RollinRagu
      @RollinRagu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching Carlton! We did not know about the trolly! That's a great tip. We drove in, fighting traffic, and paid the parking fee. Next time, we know! Yes, the campground is fantastic. It's only 2.5 hours from home, yet we rarely seem to get there. We have to make better effort. Sounds like you might be local too?

      @@RollinRagu it’s about a 4 hour drive for us pulling the camper. We also enjoy Cades Cove. This year we haven’t stayed in the park any I suppose because of all of the COVID-19 restrictions. We have camped in some of the state parks.

    Been going to Elkmont for 33 years now.... always tent camp.. Was there in 2018 when flash flood and lost alot of my gear , as river was knee deep in our tent , but thats nature. We still.go every summer and tent it... Not a better place on earth to us.. We will be back in June... Happy Camping , nice video

      We had been to Smokemont several times in the last decade, but never Elkmont. Both are great! This video was filmed in 2018, end of July. When was the flood? Must have been a mess.

    I agree you are in one of heaven’s beauty spots. Being in Tennessee helps, lots more chance of finding one. Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce with ribs. You got 2 things right. I know you probably don’t hike the off in boonies, but some of the best in Smoky Mts. If you can walk 3 miles & rest a little walk back, you will really surprise your self. Some of the quietest places l have ever been. Like to take something to lay on, snuggle with girlfriend. Brings back some good memories.

      Thanks for watching! We have done much hiking, although not on this trip. There was a hike we did 6-8 years ago up near Clingman's Dome. One of our all time favorites, but can't remember the name. There are several videos on our channel for camping in Appalachia, check them out!

    Do they have quiet time so the generators must be turned off during those times?

    • @RollinRagu
      @RollinRagu  ปีที่แล้ว

      They do. I don't remember what they were, but the window to run them was fairly small. Also, there were a few sections to the campground with some being NO GENERATOR sections. Considering the noise of the river, we didn't find any generators to be offensive. Thanks for your question!

    • @RollinRagu

      That was some time ago now. I seem to remember there was water as you enter the campground. One location, and not on your site. Could be wrong though.

    Thanks for the video, for the life of me though I don’t understand why people post campground reviews without indicating the sites. Everyone watches campground reviews to get an idea of the sites. I have no idea what site you were on.

    • @RollinRagu
      @RollinRagu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comments. Point taken. I should have added site numbers. Although, this isn't meant to be a campground review per-se. If you look at the campground map, almost all of the riverfront sites were very similar to the one we're on. You can't go wrong! Hope you can get there sometime.

      I don't remember the exact number. However, if you look at the campground map, ALL of the sites shown along the river were very similar to this one. If I guessed, it was within a few sites of site #D3. Hope that helps.
