Even now in 2024, still one of the best and enjoyable performances on American Idol... Remember watching live and when he comes back in at 2:28 it gave me chills , so good.
This shows how brutally ruthless the music industry is. This guy, like many other performers on American Idol, was phenomenal yet barely sold any records
To date this is still my favorite performance on idol by any contestant. I miss when the show was like this. Great contestants. Judges with chemistry. Mentors who knew the business. I miss all of it.
Yeah, some performances stand out. Also, the Led Zep covers by Adam Lambert and Caleb Johnson were epic!!! Adam's "Whole lotta love" and Caleb's "Dazed and confused."
Maaaaaan I was 6 years old when I watched this, had the biggest crush on Blake during his time on this show. Was obsessed with my grandma. 😭 I’m almost 21 years old now this is such a throwback for me
I love his energy and enthusiasm. Singing isn't just about the voice, but also the entertainment. He not only accomplished all of that but also added an electronic twist to a popular rock song. By far my favorite contest and the most unique
See, these are the kinds of performances you will NEVER get on today’s American Idol. Randy was dead on, the most original performance I ever saw on this show.
Still love that this was the most creative artist ever on American Idol. Randy Jackson recognized it.And he went on to make Heartbreak on VInyl which is a fantastic video. I don't think it matter to me or him if he is the most successful artist of all time or not.
I think he got unlucky with the song and he knew it. He didn't quite have the vocal chops to pull it off, so he changed it around and did what he's best at, and made it his own.
I remember watching this and my best friend calling me while she was watching it too and going nuts because Blake had come to our high school a performed when he was part of Kickshaw, we got to meet him. This was an amazing thing to watch, so original!
I love it when the mentors are freaked out by the arrangements that the contestants have chosen, and then they KILL the performance. It just goes to show you that even the pros can be wrong sometimes. I completely understand Bon Jovi's hesitation in Lewis trying this idea on HIS work, because this was way out there, but Lewis had an ear for what was current at the time he tried it, and it worked. Same thing happened with "Ring of Fire" by Adam Lambert. You could tell Randy Travis wanted to sink into a hole, thinking his mentoring was being ignored, because he thought Lambert was going too far, but it worked. And the best part about it? It gave Lewis an iconic idol moment.
I think of this performance often. I remember seeing this live and this has been living in my head rent free since thenmm😂. Such a memorable performance
You can tell Bon was aggy about this performance, but it needed to happen to add a new dimension to American Idol which couldnt have happened on its own.
This was definitely a gutsy move to change up the song like this, but it paid off. Unfortunately he got a little too carried away with the beatboxing and did it in every song he performed. It went from being a cool trick to an annoying crutch. He has a good voice, so it wasn't like he needed to do it all the time.
To this day , I still remember this performance and come back time to time when this pops into my head.
TattooBaby Xx bro same, I used to go on my computer when I was 7 and play this exact video
Same.. can't imagine the song sounding like the original. It's always Blake's version I always hear in my head.
I can't believe I still remember his name. I remember watching this when I was a kid and hearing this song reminds me of his version of it.
Same here. Also, Norman Gentle -- his audition and top 36 week were unforgettable too.
Also same
I’m 25 years old now and I still remember being 11-12 losing my mind over this live. I relate to soo many of these comments as well
Blake was phenomenal. This was one of the best performances in Idol history. But the REAL story is the drummer. Jesus... Killer drum performance!
Teddy Campbell is responsible for those dangerous locks on the cocktail drum.
NOT REALLY.
Even now in 2024, still one of the best and enjoyable performances on American Idol... Remember watching live and when he comes back in at 2:28 it gave me chills , so good.
One of the GOAT American Idol performances
Possibly the 🐐
@@gregstivers8959 Yessir!
this was groundbreaking at the time
yes
This shows how brutally ruthless the music industry is. This guy, like many other performers on American Idol, was phenomenal yet barely sold any records
I bought my copies
Let's gooooo! Glad you supported/support Blake@@pmccservices
Remember watchin this live… now we almost in 2022
This man is underrated. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
He took a risk and this performance was even better than the original.
And honestly permanently changed this show for it!
the best performance ever on the show !!!
Even Bon Jovi was pretty impressed with this. He said he never thought that his song could go that way.
Maaaaaan I was 6 years old when I watched this, had the biggest crush on Blake during his time on this show. Was obsessed with my grandma. 😭 I’m almost 21 years old now this is such a throwback for me
i was 6/7 years old and VIVIDLY remember this performance and using my mom’s flip phone to call his voting number lmao
As a kid I loved this performance lol
I love his energy and enthusiasm. Singing isn't just about the voice, but also the entertainment. He not only accomplished all of that but also added an electronic twist to a popular rock song. By far my favorite contest and the most unique
He was the BEST from this season of Idol.
Still love watching this after all these years
This is the song that gives him the spot in the finale
Omg He should have won 🏆
This is when idol rocked, he was cute, great song, brilliant beatboxing. I miss this
Came to watch because I still think of this performance from time to time.
See, these are the kinds of performances you will NEVER get on today’s American Idol. Randy was dead on, the most original performance I ever saw on this show.
One of the most memorable performances on Idol. Breaking the mold.
Still love that this was the most creative artist ever on American Idol. Randy Jackson recognized it.And he went on to make Heartbreak on VInyl which is a fantastic video. I don't think it matter to me or him if he is the most successful artist of all time or not.
Best performance I ever saw on American Idol
this guy has so much style
Damn this is 2007, i was 6th grader and I still a big fans of him til now
The best American Idol performance, ever.
Of all the performances on American idol this is one of if not the only one I remember. Amazing personal take on this song.
This is the only performance I remember from America Idol
I think he got unlucky with the song and he knew it. He didn't quite have the vocal chops to pull it off, so he changed it around and did what he's best at, and made it his own.
2020.. and i still love this guy's performance..
Who's watching in 2022?!
Still love this!
Simon Paula and Randy knew how to pick real talent!!
HE SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never forgotten this performance, and from time to time, I still look for it on TH-cam 😍✨️
Phenomenal! Still one of the best performance EVER in American Idol history. I remember I had it saved on my phone when I was in middle school :)
2023 and I still love this guy’s performance..
I remember watching this and my best friend calling me while she was watching it too and going nuts because Blake had come to our high school a performed when he was part of Kickshaw, we got to meet him. This was an amazing thing to watch, so original!
After years, back here and it still and always be great to remember. Great performance.
My absolute favorite constensant and performance of the OG Idol!! I so remember this like it was yesterday!! Oh take me back!!!
He matured so much from this performance, compared to when he did his audition and the "Virtual Insanity" peformance. I love it.
15 years later still a bop
This season was by far my favorite and the talent was America’s got talent off the chain
I remember watching this live in 2007 and losing my mind!!!!! He's incredible!!!!!
#2007AmericanIdolContestant #blakelewis #beatbox #bbox
i love it ... brings back some memories from summers '07
I love it when the mentors are freaked out by the arrangements that the contestants have chosen, and then they KILL the performance. Always thought Blake was overated but this was a killer performance super creative
This was the best on this episode 👌
Dude you should have won. I was living in Phoenix at the time and Jordan didn't deserve to win
Biggest balls ever. Great performance!
This is the type of performance that should be recognized over people who don’t take risks.
I think of this performance often. I remember seeing this live and this has been living in my head rent free since thenmm😂. Such a memorable performance
Back when we were younger and all my family was watching this! The time where American Idol was actually really great!
Now he is in PMJ and still
singing very good...
I'll always come back here
I'm back
Lol this was one of my choir teachers students
I can't wait until 2022 I get to see him in concert
Damn, I cant believe it’s that long since I first heard his version
Love him.
Love you Jon, but this is still the beSt version of this song of all time.
This guys was my choir teachers student-
I have been looking for this for so long
SO RUCKING GOOD!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😭😭😭
By far the best performance ever on American Idol!
I love rock, but this is great!
absolutely loved this guy back on American Idol. I think he got a bad rap
Jon was definitely wrong!!
This was fantastic
Would be lucky to be top 10 these days seriously..
The best
Yo I remember this likenitbwas yesterday. I still think about it as none of the best performances on the show
Great...!!!!
Hello, I´m from Peru!! Yo también pienso que esta fue la mejor presentación de American Idol!! :)
When i sing this on a videoke I imitate how blake sang this hahaha
After seeing Jax, i just remembered how i loved this performance
Yo Drums..... NASTY!!!! Chops man....
Nice set
Ok it's not The Voice (a show focused 100% on singing)... How did he not win this! No offense Jordan Sparks.
He was forced to sing This is My Now which is not his type of song. Jordin had a big advantage with that song.
I CONIC
Fire
Still the best thing
I never really watched American Idol but I remember changing the channel and stumbling upon this and thinking damn this shit is pretty hot!
Yes yes yes
so fucking sweet
Fuck, I was 6 or 7 when this came out!
Where are the studio version ???
This video is as old as me
I love this man so fucking much. When he lost to Jordin Boring Sparks, I lost interest in American Idol completely.
I like his spin on this song
All honesty no one can outdo bon jovi in his youth change my mind
Wow I was only 17, now 33
Forcing him to sing This is My Now in the final was criminal. Finalists should sing their own songs
he reminds me of Robin Williams
i was 16 when this happened it was awe inducing, id never seen such a thing, i couldnt remember who he was so i searched american idol beatboxer lol
You can tell Bon was aggy about this performance, but it needed to happen to add a new dimension to American Idol which couldnt have happened on its own.
BLAKE
That was the rue music yeah
This was definitely a gutsy move to change up the song like this, but it paid off. Unfortunately he got a little too carried away with the beatboxing and did it in every song he performed. It went from being a cool trick to an annoying crutch. He has a good voice, so it wasn't like he needed to do it all the time.
You can tell the whole time bon jovi wanted to say "why did you butcher my song you fucking asshole"
You have the perfect amount of subs it’s 123 subscribers but imma make it 124
