    This was one of the first games I really got into growing up. Incredible to find people still playing it today 😀

      hahaha yeah it is OLD! but surprisingly many still do playing it, I doubt any younger start playing it so it is probably not gaining any new people :) I still like it

      I found d a copy left on a shared computer in my Electronics class in Fall of 1992. I was hooked. Took a copy of the files, took two floppy disks to hold it. Back in the day, you didn’t need to reinstall.

    1:00 - I’ve tried England on Emperor a few times - it was kinda liberating - I skipped Europe, and sales up/over to the “new” world. Set up like 5 cities and linked them all - sent a trireme to Suez, with a settler and a phalanx. Dropped them off, they built a fortress and a city. Just cut Africa off from all other land access. Fun stuff.

      Would have loved to seen that game! That is my next game to play and yeah I also always skip Europe and visit maybe US/Aztec and build up in North America before conquering the world :) interesting to block Suez, that is really smart! if Zulu are in Africa they usually become pretty big and difficult opponent.

    Always happy to see a Civ Let's Play from you! (spoiler for video) I liked your strategy of giving zulus tech after you conquered some of their cities. I usually always decline giving tech away but it makes sense here since all the tech they could take from you would not improve their military strength and you planned to conquer them fairly quickly. That strategy completely pacified them. I would love to see you do an Emperor pacifist run at some point (never attack, only defend and no starving of enemy cities but inciting a revolt could perhaps be allowed).

    • @IntuneVitaDoctrina
      @IntuneVitaDoctrina  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks a lot for the comment, and I agree, giving techs is bad, especially if they in their turn give it away, in this case Zulu could not speak too so many others.
      I really like you idea of a game play, it would be difficult to be pacifist..; especially if one computer civilization becomes too strong and I cannot go and pick their capital LOL :)
      Would have to think of some rules, maybe:
      1. I can NEVER break a peace
      2. Must ALWAYS accept to speak with computer Civilizations
      3. Must ALWAYS accept peace offers (unless they request money/tech, those I can deny but not the peace offer itself)
      4. If not in war, not allowed to put diplomats and starve out.
      However, if someone breaks a peace or declare war at me, should I not be able to fight back and take a city of theirs?

      @@IntuneVitaDoctrina I was thinking of an extreme version where you can never attack (except barbarians I guess), only defend which means no taking back of cities. Having a good defence, maybe with city walls, and spreading out early to get enough cities will thus be important. But I also think only having your 4 rules would make sense. Whatever will be the most fun for you when playing :) It's something I want to try myself since I keep winning by being aggressive and I want to force myself to play in a different manner.

    • @IntuneVitaDoctrina
      @IntuneVitaDoctrina  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Interesting, then obviously only way to win is to send a space ship.
      So if I have a city, and in war, and they have a Catapult coming towards my city, I'm not allowed to attack the Catapult? only have a Phalanx hopefully as a veteran, and a City Wall? no Defense Catapult to attack back from city?
      Hmmm interesting, extremely hard, if Mongols are next to me, I would need to keep the peace by giving they whatever they want etc :)

    • @Christians_Retro_Gaming
      @Christians_Retro_Gaming 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@IntuneVitaDoctrina Yes, that's what I had in mind. This would motivate using settlers to build fortresses at choke points and add defensive units there or in mountains to prevent enemy catapults etc. from pillaging and from reaching your cities. If you allow inciting revolts, it would still be theoretically possible to win by conquering Earth but sending a space ship is probably much more viable.

    Great vid again! Don't think I've ever won before heading into 1AD but I suppose it's more easier on Earth as you know where all land is and where everyone spawns. Very much enjoyed this!
    You plan on doing any more on Civ1?

    • @IntuneVitaDoctrina
      @IntuneVitaDoctrina  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks, I think you are spot on, Earth Map gives us human player an advantage to know the map.
      I would love to do more Civ1, right now out of ideas, done a normal game with chariots and attack quick, one with space ship and now one Earth Play.
      Got ay ideas of a game play that could be interesting? I was thinking something like not allowed to leave my first island until 1AD to give the computer a chance to build up or something like that. Or win without building a single Chariot or some restrictions

    • @Pain007Productions
      @Pain007Productions 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@IntuneVitaDoctrina I like that idea, could be interesting. One idea as I play similar to yourself (attack early with numerous chariots), would be to do a no chariot run. So you can either use calvarys or catapults early. Might push you to get chivalry earllier for knights. Which would possibly give the ai time to develop their forces. I could be wrong though.
      But I guess the only way to shake it up is to give yourself stipulations. No chariot could do that. Maybe no diplomats also which could make it tricky.
      Civ 1 is my personal favourite, but you could try Civ 2 as that is an enjoyable game too. I wouldn't suggest any further Civ though as they get too unnecessarily complicated, well at least for me lol.

    • @IntuneVitaDoctrina
      @IntuneVitaDoctrina  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      no diplomats would make it difficult, love those :) agree about civ3 and later, great games but start to be too much :) maybe play a game with some restrictions, makes the game longer for sure :)

      @@IntuneVitaDoctrina Civ3 is good until you have like 50 cities to manage, which slows the game down a lot. Haven't played 4 or 5, but tried 6 out and was a bit overwhelmed by it. Simplicity of 1 & 2 is more my style. You should experiment with restrictions and see what makes it more of a challenge.

    I´m more on a civ 2 player. I don´t know if this is true for Civ 1. but in civ 2 the resources and up in a pattern that alows every city to have 4 resources, the cities will not be at optimal range, but decently close. This give really powerful city early on specially when the size is 4.
    Also the pattern make it so you can figure out what grassland is resources, so you can make it to a forest and "extract" it.
    A part from that there is two resource stacks. if i remember correctly the Buffalo can be turned in to a Pheasant, and the wheat can be turned in to silk, vice versa. This way any city can be optimized for trade, sheelds and food depending on what you like (well more so when you got engineers later)

    • @IntuneVitaDoctrina

      more than 25 years since I played Civ2, liked it, but harder to setup now and play than Civ1, gotta try it out again.
      Yeah the pattern might be the same but no Buffalo/What in Civ1 what I can tell of the old graphic :)

      @@IntuneVitaDoctrina yea. But i do think it works simuarly with a fix resource position. So if the size is corect it should be able to reach 4 resources with each city. And of cause also kbow whete the resources is hiden in the grass lands.

      The England challenge will be done for sure! China is difficult but easier than England so not sure I do that one as the Earth Map is a bit boring knowing the map in advance, but the England is my next! :) someone called it the EEE7 challenge, Earth/Emperor/England/7Civilizations :)
