Enya was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Donegal, Ireland. Enya studied classical music at college under private tuition. On leaving college she was asked by Producer Nicky Ryan to join her siblings in their family band. She did so for a short time, but found it too restrictive musically, and so in 1982 she joined Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan in a creative and business partnership. Enya's first commission was to write a score for Sir David Puttnam for his film "The Frog Prince". Then, the triumvirate secured the soundtrack to the BBC documentary series 'The Celts'. Enya was then signed by Warner Music and all three by EMI Music Publishing. The first album of this contract was "Watermark" with the hit single "Orinoco Flow". This was followed by "Shepherd Moons", "The Memory of Trees", "Paint the Sky With Stars", "A Day Without Rain" which produced the single, "Only Time".

Yes totally agree with you here. I love when Enya crafts some really powerful dark and ominous songs like Tempus Vernum or the shamanistic energy avalanche of The River Sings. That brooding atmosphere only Enya can create.

Missy Glitter Vlogs yes, it was 1988 when I first saw her on a video on tv in an hotel in Amsterdam, Orinoco Flow. Then we went to Ireland on a tour and the Tour Guide played her in the coach, it was beautiful, and they were so,proud of her. She started recording in her garden shed. She was late with a band called Clannad, then went it alone.

I've been listening to her since the old days of The Celts, Watermark, etc. She inspired my own music career & learning the Irish language. I remember my father through these songs. He left me and my mother at holy Christmas night, last year. Respected Madame Enya's awesome melodies bring back those moments and feelings of that night. We're Indian and Hindu religion, but it's very strange that after few days at his funeral night my mother dreams him wearing a snow white dress and a white crown of flower on his head. He was speechless, just shaking me and my mother's hands, and vanished forever. Christmas is a touchy memory to us.

Oíche Chiúin (Silent Night) - Silent Night was my Grandmother's favourite hymn. When she passed away at Christmas many years ago we played this hymn at her service. To this day I can not listen to this song in any language without tears of memory of an Angel on earth who is now an Angel in Heaven. This is the most beautiful version ever. Thank you.
