@@pbabiesinspace6112 no actually i used the big mace only with lots of that green plasma projectile spell that locks onto him. i did mostly jump attacks. I also used that big spell where you have this ghost follow you around as an extra dps help. Still tough but i got him down.
4:22 that sequence is ABSOLUTELY POETIC. Love how all the memories of Eviterno's underlings came in for a last desperate move. This single sequence is the greatest moment in Blasphemous for me.
I cant' imagine something else than Weil summoning the Eight Judges' souls in Zero 4's ending, coincidentally, Eviterno looks like Weil with his broken helmet.
Honestly that was the moment I personally wanted to throttle the devs. "Hey I know this was already a nightmare and a total endurance test of phase after phase against an enemy that would make the super bosses in most other games weep but here's a brief intermission so you we can fuck you up using all the previous boss's most annoying moves in sequence."
I wouldn't say that the boss sucks but the fact that you have to fight the easy introduction phase before the real fight is completely pointless in my opinion, it simply makes it much harder to learn for nothing. I can understand why they would do this, it's present in lots of big games like hollow knight, sekiro, eldenring but I still absolutely despise this decision. This is also why "worldless" is one of my favorite games: some bosses are difficult but you can retry in seconds, which makes it much less painful.
When Eviretno pulls Crisanta's sword he says her line "my penance is far over" and the music composition is starts using Crisanta's theme motive. It's beautifull.

Very impressive! What is even more impressive is that you had the patience to sit through the cutscenes and first part of the fight for however many times it took you to master it. I'm not being sarcastic here, I wasn't able to do it even though I loved the fight itself and the game as a whole.

Lowkey I think he cheated he completes three hits preemptively knowing which moves sequence is about to start and doesn't for the other ones. The safe bet would just be to two hit and then wait to react since the buffer system is terrible in this game but he somehow doesn't but always manage to only two hit when he needs to dodge. It looks shady...
This is probably my 5/4th favourite boss fight of all time once you get the rhythm down the fight just flows like butter and your not even thinking your just reacting its so fucking good
I missed the part where I get the rhythm down... I just don't understand anything and waste hours of sleep by getting bullied by an old man with the power of anime. I have beaten lots of hard bosses in my life such as the infamouses pure vessel and nightmare kind Grimm that I can now defeat easily with no charms, but this boss... I feel like I'm never going to make it and won't even manage to have fun in defeat, this time... I don't like giving up, and I know that I won't be able to get it out of my head if I do, which is also why I looked this video up, but I feel like, this time, I stumbled upon a challenge that is far above my abilities.
Honestly i despise that this boss requires you to replay first phase every time you do the fight. Its easy as hell but adds like 2-3 minutes to each encounter. If i'm at best surviving like 10-15 seconds on the second phase because i cant read the enemy attacks at all, adding this arbitrary time waster just to get another 10-15 seconds to try to see whats even happening on screen is incredibly annoying. Like phase 1 on its own is a fun lil warmup and phase 2 on its own is a great intense encounter with a lot to learn that tests your knowledge of the game. One after the other however really just feels like kicking me when I'm down. Too much time between phase 2 fights for real pattern recognition to kick in
I agree -- that first phase gets pretty tedious after a while and you need to do it almost perfectly so that you have a full complement of bile flasks when he goes into Phase II.

And frustrating. Second phase is a pain in the ass. I kept sliding thru and finally beat him. Jumping did me no justice. Can’t hit him more than once or twice without getting punished
Just use the time prayer. Hit him till the fervor is enough and use it again. It literally makes the entire fight in both forms AND the last fight so they literally cannot move. If you’re having trouble.

There's a lot of commit in the game, if you're getting knocked around like a pinball and parrying his attacks, you don't get a single chance to act, making him seem far more overwhelming than he actually is.
his first phase is very predictable, you need to understand his 3 or 4 combos and how the boss connects them. once i understood that his attacks are actually quite limited, i went from dying within the first 15 seconds to getting him to 30% health.
@@Doublejhohonestly parrying is the only way I found the first half of the second phase even remotely doable. He just gets stuck in a loop of his 3 easy to manage attacks. It's the second half of his second phase where things become a mess

Try watching Skull the hero slayer's final boss especially the latest update of the game. Some Eviterno movement are similar to Skull's final boss. My opinion that boss is one the best final boss in 2D action.
I have a great cheese tactic with ruego: stand in one corner and just block and jump until his moves become more elaborate: then run from corner to corner and wait for a good blocking sequence. The blocking has to come with the automatic counterattack. That's how i beat him.
my favorite bosses from both games would have to be crisanta and eviterno bc of how many times to you have to die to even catch a glimpse of their second phase
Compared to Eviterno, Crisanta's phase 1 is harder. She adds things to her phase 2, that make it a harder version of phase 1. Eviterno completely switches his moves

Took me around 12 tries to finally beat this guy. Idk wtf soulsborne fans are talking about when they say how great it feels to finally beat a tough boss whos been giving you so much trouble. Game would've been more enjoyable had i beat this guy in the first few tries rather than the 12th.
I don't know how y'all are struggling this bad, I beat him in 3 tries, just slide, It hard counters almost all his moves, every move has a specific way to dodge it, but they can all be dodged rather easily. beating a hard boss gives a sense of satisfaction like no other

After Pontiff from DS3 I gave an obeth: not to suffer any more. So just use R2 + square for Sarmiento and Centella without any stop, just feeling the rhythm and you will win without learning all those algorithms. Eviterno is not hard, just annoying because of 2 parts and his speed. But here is the solution.
What an insanely idiotic decision process with this entire boss fight. They must have phoned this one in to their foreign VA's to do completely. What a stupid way for them to make everyone hate their worthless game.

Such a challenging and enjoyable boss fight. The best in Blasphemous 2. Reminds me of the Pure Vessel fight in difficulty from Hollow Knight.
