Good sound and an adequate realistic feel from the instrument, despite being digital. Nice song and performance. I got inspired to pick that song up as well.

Thanks ! I agree about the digital pianos. They're surprisingly good in sound and touch. Ofcourse they're only an imitation of acoustic pianos and can never be quite as good as the real thing though.

    Love it ! Great playing.
May I ask you a question? I'm currently considering purchasing this instrument. I know it will last me many, many years, sounds amazing, and I trust Yamaha's action and pedaling. I just have one question.
    1. Do you find it difficult to play at the back of the keys? When you attempt to play a key further back, is it difficult?
    2. Is it difficult to play softly?
    3. How do the key tops feel? The synthetic ivory?

      Thanks !
      To answer your questions:
Playing at the back of the keys feels effortless. The keys feel pretty evenly balanced from front to back.
Playing softly is easy, and it is also possible to adjust the key sensitivity to your personal liking. The contrast between the sound volume and properties are surprisingly big between playing soft and playing loud.
The key tops feel good. I have never tried real ivory key tops though so I cannot compare to those. I suppose that the key tops are synthetic now days on pretty much every piano ?
Overall i've been very happy with the touch of CLP-575. The touch doesn't feel clumsy and doesn't feel too light. The difference in touch between CLP-545 and CLP-575 is not really that noticeable though. So if you're going to play with headphones alot and therefore don't need the bass speaker of CLP-575, CLP-545 might be the right choice as it is quite a bit cheaper.

Tuure Tomminen Ahhh. I could not have received a better answer. After reading the specs, this worried me. "Pretty balanced" should suffice. I believe after building up better finger strength, it will not be noticeable whatsoever according to what you have told me.
So playing softly is quite easy then.. Good to know.
Hmm. I will take your word on the fact that the keys feel good. All pianos? Most recent digitals for sure, as for acoustics, I am not positive.
Still, I believe I could stretch for the 575. Even if it is not noticeable now, I believe it may become irritating either. Sections of the 545s keybed are weighted the same, not every individual key. That would become noticeable to me eventually and begin to irritate me haha.
Not clumsy and not too light.. I have been told that Yamaha has a decently heavy keybed, which is not a bad thing. Thanks to their keybed, I have read about people saying after playing their 575, they were able to go straight to their acoustic grand with no issue. So that's awesome.
Oh and one more question.. What settings can you do to the sound? I know that you can change the key touch to your comfort, but what can you do to the sound of let's say.. the standard CFX voice?

Steven Toth Hi, Sorry for a bit late answer. The sound you hear in this video is actually the unmodified CFX-grandpiano sample. Modifying the sound does have a big effect on the sound. For example, I think the Bösendorfer sample sounds a bit dull. When I change the brightness of the sound, add a little reverb and lighten the touch a bit, I think the sample sounds very rich and bright while still maintaining the softness of the bösendorfer.
All in all, The possibilities are endless and the sound can be modified heavily. I should note though that the basic samples are very good and most of the times I don't find the need to modify the sample through sound options.

Tuure Tomminen Thank you. I was in need of hearing from someone who owned the piano themselves. I'm currently deciding between the Kawai CA65 and this Yamaha CLP575. The thing is, I'm not sure which is closest to a real acoustic grand...

Both are very good instruments and in the end what matters most is your personal liking. I'd suggest you to try both models and choose the one that you enjoy playing more :)

wow you played really nice.do you have any negative thoughts about clp 575? im a new player, ive been thinking to buy this piano but i still have some questions.another option is buying clp 465gp but im not sure if its much better or not for generally as well.

Thanks a bunch! I've been very happy with my CLP-575. Sounds are great, especially with headphones, the key action is responsive and heavy enough and CLP-575 looks great. The two-way speaker system makes a big difference compared to previous model (CLP-545). Any specific negative thoughts haven't popped up since I knew what i was buying. Of course the speakers could always be better and the touch could always be improved. The next model (CLP-585) costs a lot more though and that's why I settled with CLP-575. If you want a good quality compared to the price, I wouldn't recommend 465GP necessarily since the "grand piano" feature costs pretty much. I think you can even get the CLP-585 for the same price as 465GP ?

Tuure yeah probably but prices are always going top and down in my country and there is no straight balance between old and new models, for instance yesterday i went a music shop and they told me clp 480 costs 2.000$ but before 2 days ago it was 4.000$ so they want to get rid of their old models.im kinda into clp 480 since prices have went down a 50%.i want to ask you one last question, did you use any audio software to change the sound of this vid? is this the original sound?

    • @Tump3
      @Tump3  10 ปีที่แล้ว

53clanthee Yeah that's true. I would've gone an older model too but when I bought the CLP-575 the prices of 400 series hadn't dropped at all. This is actually the original unmodified sound I recorded straight to an USB memory. In future I will buy an USB interface to make the sound better. Also in this video I could've set the volume levels a bit higher since at the moment they're a little too low. Im still experimenting with my new instrument :)

Tuure Tomminen i thought there must be some trick about sound :) i'm suprised, nowadays they make really good digital pianos.thanks for the conversation.

    Hello!
Played very nicely! I like the way you make the melody clear so it doesnt get lost among the short notes in between. This theme gives the performer a lot of freedom regardning the tempo and dynamics. I have some comments here, but its my personal opinion. I think the first few measures, when the main theme is indroduced should be played more legato. You re doing the hand staccato in the left hand, which in my opinion doesnt fit here very much. You play it also a little bit "square", I think it would be great to give a little bit more time here, little hestitation, but not too expressive yet. Then, you should maybe experiment with dynamics a little bit more. The climax of the piece is in the middle part, when you play the chords in the right hand and arpeggios in the left. The last part I think should be played more quietly, kind of fading away.. Im not criticizing, no offence, I would put some more emphasis on the dynamics, try to think where the music goes. I understand that in this kind of pieces it s extremely tempting to just let it go and let the emotions guide your action, which is completely fine, but since I dont see you having to much technical problems, you can bring it to much, much higher level, without too much effort. Regarding the technique: when you play the arpeggios in the left hand in the middle part, I see that your knuckles collapse a little bit, and your palm becomes flat in its middle part, im not sure if youre experiencing any stiffness, but pay attention to that if it doesnt impair your flexibility. ;) good luck! Have you played Satie? If you like Tiersen, you would like the decadence of fin de sickle as well... Upload more videos, there is not much on you tube regarding the new clavinova series, im actually thinking of buying this model, upgrading my old digital... Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the feedback ! You have very good points. Now that I listen to it, the beginning could really be more legato and the dynamics could be improved. When I recorded this, I played it rather carefully to hit the right notes (this is the first try by the way). So That partly explains the lack of dynamics. I actually noticed the collapsed knuckles myself when watching myself play and that certainly increases the stiffness. I'm actually a self taught as a pianist so I'm pretty certain that there are quite an amount of flaws in my techinque. My backround from years of playing guitar and flute have helped me a bunch though. I will upload more stuff soon and try some Satie too :)
