The Tallest Man on Earth playing an old American song in one of the oldest parts of Sydney, the Rocks - in a single take for Shoot the Player (www.shoottheplayer.com).
His guitar is tuned to Cadd4 (CGCFCE). I don't know what the chords he uses are called but they tab out to: 0x4200 505400 200120 002020 He throws this chord into the chorus: 020001. Just watch the video to see which chords he uses when and get a sense of picking, timing etc. Enjoy.
4 Years since the last comment? I think it’s time for another :). Great song, just now found it in 2018. It’s hard to find good music now when everyone listens to rap or pop. Just some good old folk music is good for me :)... Also, i didn’t know he smoked until now and I wondering if he still does, anyone know?
I saw him play this song about 2 feet from my face in a crowd of about 60 people in an old church turned intimate music venue. Was lucky enough to get a ticket in a city where a thousand could have sold.
It is sad to be parted from those that we love, Strange faces we see every day, Each heart string of mine is broken in time, When I think of those dear ones at home, Goodbye dear old stepstone, good bye to my home, god bless those I leave with a sigh, I'll cherish fond memories when I'm far away, to roam o'er this wide world alone & so I stood on my doorstep one evening in mourn, & the wind whispered by with a howl, The fields may be widening but I will be gone, To roam o'er this wide world alone, Goodbye dear old stepstone, goodbye to my home, god bless those I leave with a sigh, Oh! I'll cherish fond memories when I'm far away, to roam o'er this wide world alone, & so I stood at my school when my school time was over, & I wished for the time to go by, & now it has passed & I stand here tonight, To bid this old stepstone goodbye, Goodbye dear old stepstone, goodbye to my home, god bless those I leave with a sigh, OH! I'll cherish fond memories when I'm far away, to roam o'er this wide world alone. I love you 💜💙💚💛🧡❤ ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Holy cow. This was 5 years ago. How had I not heard of him then?! Anyways, for all who're wondering about the tuning, it is CGCFCE. Someone please tab this out!
It's great. He is just another pearl in a string of great songwriters/performers. It's the time, environments, and influences that gives sound the songs that he writes. Can't compare him to anything except his last album.
Tuning: CGCFCE The chords in order, for the intro: 0x4200 0x5400 0x7600 0x5400 500450 0x4200 0x5400 200120 002020 005040 (It looks like a lot, but the first 8 chords apart from 500450, you're just sliding one shape up and down the neck).
@CharlieS9227 I completely respect your opinion, but Thousand Ways is insanely beautifully written. As a non-native english speaker, I have to listen to his songs hundreds of times before I discover what's behind them... Guess I should get into bob dylan some more? ;]
Hey, would anyone with expereinece on tabbing try to tab this beautiful version of this old song? This song is a perfect match for a good campfire atmosphere. (Especiellay when performed by Kristian Matsson)
I sure did like this! I just uploaded this song (my version) - Woody Guthrie has it on his Asch Recordings CD, Vol. 2, no. 12. Different words than this - a bit, anyway. God bless, Charlie (Bo. Charles Pratt)
He's totally not using open Gm tuning in this song. I've tried. The Cadd4 above is really close. I been able to work out some of the chords in that tuning already.
oh... I'm a big fan of The Tallest Man on Earth... just talking about the way fonts are used... the way you film... and it's just a question... no hate :)
psst...you should get each individual artist to write out the opening credits for their own video...in their own hand writing... it would undoubtedly be awesome. and unique. ahem. yep.
I know it's common to compare him to Dylan - but i like him far better...all apologies but I like his voice, style, lyrics far better than Dylan's - I couldn't ever embrace Bob Dylan's music completely - but this - i dunno feels flawless and easy - Dylan had the tension of the Vietnam war and protests as a backdrop so his music really arose from the times - but this feels even more timeless somehow-
@lkjhgfdsa954 I Can't speak for STP, but why over complicate things by trying some innovative new thing that could totally suck. These, and Blogotheques, vids are simple and rather intimate, and it works wonderfully for both
2022 and this is still boss level
2022 and still jamming since 2013
Keep coming back to this.
It's so good!

his voice is pure love
I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BASCOM RECORDING OF THIS AND I THINK I JUST DIED OF HAPPINESS ALL OVER MYSELF
Always, always a joy to hear. Again, and and again, and....
I saw him play this song about 2 feet from my face in a crowd of about 60 people in an old church turned intimate music venue. Was lucky enough to get a ticket in a city where a thousand could have sold.
They couldn´t make it more raw beautiful than this.
Just a simple shot becoming so perfect

One guy, a 200 pound guitar, and a fuck load of soul.
This is music.
200 lbs?! wtf how much do you think a guitar weighs?
This is very simple. I'll tab out a version on Ultimate Guitar Tabs and put it up here!
That would be major awesome, buddy!
that would be greatly appreciated, man.
+John Miles please tab this! my guitar skills aren't good enough yet for me to tab out songs.
+napoli92fra you're a hero.
He's playing in Glasgow in like 2 days, and I can't go =(
So gutted!
That restaurant he passes at 1.57 does really good pizza...
I love the bit at the start, reminds me of Dewey from Malcom in the Middle. "Yesterday, I got to pet a Koala...and feed a Kangaroo!"
A mighty man!:-)
@CharlieS9227 I completely respect your opinion, but Thousand Ways is insanely beautifully written.
As a non-native english speaker, I have to listen to his songs hundreds of times before I discover what's behind them...
Guess I should get into bob dylan some more? ;]
awesome man! how come i only just found this guy?
he smokes and still got a heavenly voice
He is such a good musician. Reminds me of a modern day bob Dylan.
"And yesterday, I got to pet a koala and feed a kangaroo.... yeah." Like it's no big deal! This man is just so cool.
Damn, I've always wanted to pet a koala. :/
Great song, as usual.
I couldn't agree with you more.
I LOVE U
Fucking boss
I want a small walking show to myself too :( Im so jealous!

@CharlieS9227 completely agree

Charles Pratt)
makes me think of Emil Lager FIRE ESCAPE

Does anybody have an idea of which tuning he is using?

Does anyone know how to find tabs for this song? write a reply to me plz
@jonnykid555 haha, skill!
@lkjhgfdsa954 ... because the credit fonts are what really made the whole thing, right?
He's totally not using open Gm tuning in this song. I've tried. The Cadd4 above is really close. I been able to work out some of the chords in that tuning already.
oh... I'm a big fan of The Tallest Man on Earth... just talking about the way fonts are used... the way you film... and it's just a question... no hate :)
I was amazed too see only 1 dislike!!
Can anyone tell me how his guitar is tuned?
anyone know where we can find tabs for this?
When you think that this guy is now in his 40s or his late 30s 🤔
40s & getting better each year.
Sounds like Cadd4 (CGCFCE).
@jamesg200311 I would also like to do that man! It's amazing stuff here
Anyone know what kind of guitar that is?
psst...you should get each individual artist to write out the opening credits for their own video...in their own hand writing...
it would undoubtedly be awesome. and unique.
ahem. yep.

Personally, I think its a generation thing. But thats just me, since I too have never understood Bob, and loved Tallest
how can he sing, play guitar and walk around?! I can't eat while watching tv without putting a forkful off food in my ear...
aaaaw
@StrongHeartLives Ditto.
Lederhosen?

@lkjhgfdsa954 I Can't speak for STP, but why over complicate things by trying some innovative new thing that could totally suck. These, and Blogotheques, vids are simple and rather intimate, and it works wonderfully for both
